    The GH5 is so fully featured that an updated model isn't much of a concern. But when it does come out I agree with the higher frame rate recording option and external RAW. As far as Speed Boosting goes, I'll opt for a Panasonic FF model instead adding a Speed Booster to an MFT camera in the future.

  • @MichaelGerrard

    If they stick with 20-something megapixels, it has to be a new sensor with increased low light and dynamic range capabilities. But I do not rule out more megapixels because they could give us some clever pixel binning tech that you could use if you wanted to, depending on whether you needed high ISO or not.
    Something important to consider is that M43 is not just for video, it is for stills too! The tech they put in the GH line, I want to get some of that in a new GX model!
    I believe M43 can continue to bring advantages over larger sensor/mount formats. Pany and OM-DS have to make compact, light, yet powerful gear, at a reasonable price!

    The thing that many people want, now that we know it can be done, is a global shutter. Failing that, fast read-out will do for now. But a global shutter will mean that we no longer need a physical shutter, making the camera arguably more reliable.

    • @JordanLeeVideo
      @JordanLeeVideo  3 года назад

      Definitely! I'd be very surprised if they did this, considering their EVA and (I might be wrong here but) some of their cine cameras don't have a global shutter. Even if they did, would Panasonic bring a global shutter into their mirrorless cameras, at the risk of losing sales for the cine range?

    • @Biosynchro
      @Biosynchro 3 года назад

      @@JordanLeeVideo The bean counters and pinheads might not want to go there, but if Panasonic are smart they will not hold back. Sony's A1 has featured that the FX9 doesn't, and they don't care.

    I think I would want a dual native ISO of 800 and 12500 would be a perfect combination to address the low light weakness of m43.
    I agree with staying at 6k and making it really good.
    Better dynamic range, improved color science, dual native ISO, IBIS, 4k 120fps 422 10bit, 240fps 422 10bit FHD, and hopefully but not expecting a new and reliable AF system.

    • @JordanLeeVideo
      @JordanLeeVideo  3 года назад

      Dual native would be nice! Even if it was on par with the Eva which I believe is 800 and 4000, would be lovely. I'm pretty sure the S1 has an unofficial dual native of 640 and 4000 and comes in so handy! (although I think the upcoming firmware confirms this with the option of choosing your native ISO)

      @JordanLeeVideo  3 года назад

      Are you currently a Lumix user? If so, then yes it will most likely definitely be worth the wait if the body is all you'll be upgrading. I'm not personally expecting AF to match what we see with Canons Dual Pixel AF or even Sony cameras, mostly due to Panasonic resisting the change to PD-AF, but I'm sure they'll state that it's 'improved' - to what extent, I'm not sure what to expect.

    • @geelongvideoguy5840
      @geelongvideoguy5840 3 года назад

      @@JordanLeeVideo yeah i have a pair of GH4s and a GH5 plus about 8 pro lenses, The AF doesn't need to be perfect but significantly improved for me to fork out for a GH6. the reason Panasonic doesn't have phase detection AF is because they are reliant on Sony to supply their sensors and Sony won't supply phase detection sensor technology to Panasonic, hence they are locked in to DBDFAF. The info was leaked by a tech guy in a chat forum and he described the relationship b/w Panasonic and Sony as complicated. Panasonic are aware of the situation and are trying to make alternative technologies replicate the brilliant Sony AF.

    The advantages of MFT are quickly slipping away, unfortunately, as everyone is aware. They will need to keep up and deliver 90% of FF but at 2/3 the price and size/weight, or really provide something outstanding that isn't offered by FF but at a similar price.

    • @JordanLeeVideo
      @JordanLeeVideo  3 года назад

      I do agree. The 10-25 f/1.7 might have extended the usage of M43 lenses for a while longer, as most people I know use full frame EF glass on their GH5's, and in doing so remove one of the main advantages of a M43 system - the lens size. I'm confident that they'll set another standard when it comes to recording specs, just like the GH5 announcement. Definitely keeping my eyes peeled on the 43rumors page!

  • @alantuttphotography
    @alantuttphotography 3 года назад

    As far as I'm concerned, if they could improve the dynamic range another stop (to 14 or so), include the full VLOG, implement a dual-ISO sensor (400/6400 ideally) with 6k/60, 4k/120, 1080p/240, (without pixel binning, line skipping, or crops) and the AF system from the new S5, that would be everything they need to justify a $2500 (US) price tag. Oh, and keep the excellent IBIS from the GH5.

    • @JordanLeeVideo

  • @chrisklugh
    @chrisklugh 3 года назад +1

    How do you say we should get excited now for something that might hopefully come out?
    In any case, the GH lineup always comes out with some 'wow factor'. They don't upgrade a spec or two and let the marketing department sell it. They will make a camera that will have all the FF boys wet their wishes. Everything mentioned, or could be speculated on, I doubt by itself would be enough. It might be another year way before they start hinting at a GH6. Could be 2 years before one comes out.

      I guess it's just a way to hook people into the video in that case then 🤷‍♂️😂

    • @JordanLeeVideo

      I personally find 'cinematic' too subjective nowadays tbh. Stick a Canon Nifty Fifty on an Alexa, or an Ultra Prime on a GH5 along with filters, add some lighting and perhaps a cheeky bit of haze, and I reckon it wouldn't be a whitewash to the Arri. It's about what you do with the bodies that achieves a desired cinematic look 🙂

    GH5 has a 20MP sensor, not 16 as mentioned in the video. Every point you mention is rather obvious. What the GH6 needs more than anything, in addition to the obvious better low light and autofocus, is better firmware. Firmware that allows users to have separate settings for photos and video (it's a hybrid after all and some people do both photo and video on the same shoot). Firmware that allows users to autofocus before starting a slowmo recording. Firmware that improves the horrible interface for doing a rack focus (it should use 1 interface rather that the current 4). And finally, the headphone jack should be positioned in a place that doesn't get in the way of the LCD screen when flipped out.
    The production quality of your video is nice, but the quality of information falls flat in comparison by sticking to all too obvious talking points.

    • @JordanLeeVideo
      @JordanLeeVideo  3 года назад +1

      Yeah, my friend told me straight away about the 20mp sensor, apologies for the inaccuracy! Not sure where 16 came from!
      I appreciate your opinion, and you're right, and those things you mentioned would really help users for video especially - I'm sure Panasonic would be considering those things taken from plenty of user feedback. The risk with these types of videos are that they are my personal expectations, rather than an explanation of any rumours, or speculating some crazy features - Even the menton of potential of 6K in the video has received backlash elsewhere on other socials. Therefore I've purposely kept my expectations low, and personally don't think they need to improve too many things (whilst I'm sure they will), being someone who'd rather be expecting less and receiving more, once the cameras is announced.
