Great review! I have had mine for about 3 years now. I have to force myself to use my Ludwig Supraphonic (seriously) over Big Black since I paid nearly 2x the money for it. I actually kept all the stock parts including heads and snare wires on the drum. It gets compliments each time I use it. It is also very pleasing to the eyes. Also, I recently purchased the 8x14 Ludwig Supralite. It is also a great sounding inexpensive snare drum.
I immediately thought the same. Maybe it's also what your boy is playing that accentuates that. It kinda sounds like he wants to be hitting an agro snare.
Good video man...sound is very very good and I usually don't like how people record their drumkit. Useless saying that I like this snare (especially low tuning).
Very choked out snare I feel bad that your not experiencing the full potential of this snare and probably others , work on snare tuning and it will make a world of difference in sound.
As an added bonus, I feel your definition of "high" is actually low-mid tuning. It still has plenty more to go. I'm sure the additional tightening on bottom will help that. Otherwise, good video. I would have never had the balls at your age to get in front of a camera and give my review on anything at all!
You can improve your vids by 1) instead of shooting YOU while describing the drum, you should focus on the drum itself---the shell/rims/throw/strainer/heads--as you describe each part. 2) No one wants to hear cymbals, bass drum, rock time....just focus on what you are presenting.
High tuning was amazing
For the love of god tune the snare side head up, it sounds like a cardboard box!
I never paid that much attention to the snare side head until a few months ago. What a difference it makes when you tune it up high.
The cardboard box sound is weird but it can fit in some songs.

Sounds great tuned high IMO.
Good job .I have a world max 6.5 x14 black nickel brass with tube lugs just like the pork pie. I love it and saved a ton of money. It's great sounding
That's awesome! It's waaaay better than it has any business being. Lol
yeah this drum sounds best in higher tunings

Yeah, there's definitely a lot I could've done better. Snare sounds far better now. Haha

Prefer the LUDWIG BLACK MAGIC.
would you do MATRA by Bring Me The Horizon
Loosen the snares a bit. It's choking. Great review though.
