Just wanted to add that this is a super informational video, you explained it to the tee, as you were talking about all of your add ons I Amazon them all and brought them for cheap. You explained it so well brother word for word it seemed I was in your garage and you were talking directly to me. Good deal and thanks. I have a Colman '17 and all of this will work.
Fellow Louisianan here. Man that was a great video. Sold me on the fishing canoe idea. Everybody and there momma has a kayak here in Monroe, so I’ll be the odd one out with a canoe lol
This is the most thought out setup I’ve seen. Just looked and a store near me has one available. Might have to go shopping tonight. Thanks for such an informative video.
This is the best RUclips video I've seen in awhile. You managed to pack it full of great info while being super concise. Fantastic set up and I'm huge fan of how everything has a place intentionally...I just picked up a 146 and I'll be using so many of your awesome tips! Thank you for sharing!
Very informative. I'm considering a Saranac myself. Either the 14' or the old 15' square back I see currently for sale. All of the very good prices in my opinion. Thank you for sharing.
Loved the video. I’ve got a similar trolley and hate it! Recently I bought a new cinch strap that really helps. But that trolley is not great. I wish you luck fishing, great set up, hope to rig up my canoe similarly.
Awesome video and ideas. I have one question, after removing the middle seat does bottom of the canoe bulge up from losing the support seat. I just bought this same model and after one trip i want to remove the seat as well.
Yes. I’ve had intentions of adding an update. It definitely bowed a bit making the front and back sit a little lower in the water. I’ve actually had to put the seat back in for now until I can come up with a proper bracing design. Got a few ideas in mind. Thinking something along the lines of a couple ribs that run across the floor and up the side walls. I let you know how it works out.
@@JodyMathews-C.L.U.C. Hi. I've been thinking about removing the centre seat in my 146 for quite awhile. Your findings about the canoe bowing in the middle. I'm keen to see what you come up with to add reinforcement, and still gain the extra storage under the plank of timber (wood). I like some of your modifications, although I see the shark teeth on the front much the same as painting a seal on the bottom of a boat! Hahaha! Also, is the original seat held in place by screws or a bolt through the gunnel? Thanks for the tour of your canoe, mate.
Very cool set up! Nothing better than a well organized boat! Love that fishing rod pliers set up. What type of screws did you use to drill into the railing? Did you use “wood” screws or just drill a hole and use a screw and bolt? Thx mate
I have the same canoe. Want to replace the middle seat with a thwart like you did so I can solo paddle on my knees. Has replacing that middle seat caused any problems with the hull flexing too much?

Good job brother you've gave me a lot of great ideas 💡
Just saw this I am in Lake Charles my son and I like canoe fishing lots of good ideas here would love to see more content from you
We have same canoe, we live not far from Pineville. We never see anyone fishing out of canoe. Lol Nice to see someone else doing the same.
Amazing, my wife and I just bought ourselves the same boat! Think I may have to copy you!
Smartly done . Clean uncluttered setup. Good going .

You can’t go wrong with the square back. They are more stable.
Great content. Thanks for sharing.
Great ideas thanks for sharing
Love the mods!
Awesome video, thank you for the ideas

Nice setup. I was thinking about getting this model myself pretty soon. Looks like it's got a lot of opportunities for modifications. Good video
Really good ideas!
Great Video very good ideas. Thank you so much.
Great video. Thank you.
Bonjour de Nouvelle Orleans voisine . Bon travail .
So Nice…top
Very nice bro
how is the white side support for the plywood anchor wall you made attached? Impressive rig! thx
I cut a couple blocks from a 2x4, painted them white, and mounted them through the side walls with stainless steel screws.
Very nice video. Thanks for sharing. I am curious how you transport your canoe with the items you have attached to your gunwale?
Very nice. I like the set up. I may switch my center storage to mimic yours. Do you recall the measurements you used for the center wood plank?
Don’t remember the specific measurement. Just measure what ya got prior to seat removal and match it.
Any chance you have links for the items you showed here that you could toss in the description?
Academy Sporting Goods had everything I have installed. All off the same isle in fact.

Can you list the rod holder information? Looking for one for our Old Town Saranac.
Academy Sporting Goods. Cheap, easy add-on.

Stainless steel all the way!

What did you use to drill the holes in the canoe without it splintering and not leaking?
It’s all plastic so splintering wasn’t an issue. And all the holes drilled were above the water line so no concerns for leaking.
Standard drill bit followed by stainless steel screws with marine adhesive on screw head backing.
Have you had a problems with the bottom flexing and/or oil-canning, losing it's shape?
YES! Bowed like crazy. I ended up going back and adding a a couple ribs to the bottom in the middle where I removed the seat to stop the bowing.
Good idea but you are weakening the boats integrity to strength
