- Neil Young and Crazy Horse performs "Don't Cry No Tears" live at Farm Aid 2001: Concert for America in Noblesville, Indiana on September 29, 2001. Get this concert on DVD at: FarmAid.org/200...
Held just 18 days after the September 11 attacks, the sold-out Farm Aid: Concert for America honored family farmers as a resource for the nation-strong farmers for a strong America.
Willie Nelson, Neil Young and John Mellencamp founded Farm Aid in 1985 and serve on the board of directors. The three agreed that family farmers were in dire need of assistance and decided to plan a concert for America.
Dave Matthews joined Farm Aid's Board of Directors in 2001 to help further Farm Aid's mission of keeping family farmers on their land.

One of the earliest songs Neil wrote.
Appears as “I Wonder” in his archives.
Earlier that same year, Paris, my first Neil Young concert, they opened with this one. I have not been quite the same since that day.

John Cougar liked this song so much he turned it into Hurts So Good. Not mad, I'm glad he did.
This has to be the best performace ever
He was born to rock, but here his is an "Opry" star
Stick out to those big corporations bloody FRCs. Words of truth right there. Good on Neill Young for not bowing down or being bought out. That's true camaraderie n lover for our fellow man/woman. A lost trait that is ruining our world.
Thanks for posting, I loved this song anyway and then Del Amitri did a cover of it in '92 and I love it even more.
✨

Love this song!
This Farm Aid was pulled off within weeks after 9/11. I sold my primo seat to subsidize a Ray Davies show in a small room the next night.

Clancy 49, "a drunken binge in Mexico"? If you know Neil like you said you do, you would know that this song was written back in his 'Toronto' day's originally called 'I wonder' or something. He kept it on the side and re-wrote it then released it as 'Don't Cry No Tears' for the Zuma record ..... I doubt if he ever got drunk in Mexico, LOL!
Smell the horse !!
(and we want Poncho back...)
don't cry no tears around me..

Best friend the farmer ever had? I doubt it. Nice song though.
Too slow... makes it sound sluggish. 1976 versions are much better..
