LOVE This - You can really smell the Horse!! Remember, Neil is 67 yrs Young (Born 11/12/45) - To be a relevant band making great music after 45 years is nothing short of LIVING LEGENDS!!!
Just saw them in Brooklyn on Monday night. Spectacular. And this was the highlight of the night. Moments before he started this song, my friend yelled in my ear "He is the last breath of Woodstock."
I was at that show too; I was actually there to see Patti and wasn't very familiar with Neil's work, but he won me that night! What a great performer, so full of energy. And this song was my favourite :)
First heard this epic song at Outside Lands in San Francisco (festival) I don't even think the album had been released yet. The people who were excited to hear Cinnamon Girl were like WTF is this, while I just stood there revelling in the brilliance of this song. I think one of the best "first impressions" of a song I've ever had, like, is this new, is this old and I don't know it well? Just so classic NY and Crazy Horse. Then they played like 5 min of feedback and i'm like oh wow (as people filed out), this is awesome.
I can imagine some teens in the crowd wondering who the geezers on stage are, then wondering why their ears are bleeding and their fists are pumping in the air.
Twenty years this is gonna be as big as Powderfinger ,Cowgirl, Cortez , Down by the River , Pocahontas , Thrasher , Heart of Gold , Hurricane , Ohio , Last Dance , well lets just say that it's popularity will be progressive , like a disease only it will be therapeutic to your soul .
I remember at the concert in Windsor, tripping, eyes closed, blissed out to the Giant's gigantic stomps of distortion. I opened my eyes and people were streaming out. I turned to my wife and asked what was going on. "They're leaving" she explained with curt desire. It didn't work out between us.
about 16 minutes in the giant starts walking! the gig I was at (Glasgow, Scotland) people around me were wondering what was going on at this point - I loved it! compare this sonic attack with the next song they played, There's a Hole in the Sky which is such a clean, easy folk/country song. The play off of the two songs against each other was brilliant

Happy B Day Neil, btw, 11/12. I love this guy's output from all eras. The TRUE Neil Fans are not fickle and appreciate him for what he is, an artist who follows the muse. I thought Living War was too political, but I fully respect what he was trying to say with it. Also, for the guy who says this song is too long. You obviously don't get it. Its not about the number of songs he plays in a set but whay they say of him, and what they say to all of us. Remember from his Year of the Horse album, "It's All One Song!!!"

Little sequence fuckup at 10:27 but I love Neil's reaction looking at Sampedro! These guys have SO much fun playing together at it shows! Long live Neil
ALLBEARSRULE - thank you for Neils MSG video - video pairs up WELL with same MSGarden FLACs of same event (better audience sound / w minor audiogap adjustment). You - have - the - goods my friend !
well, I actually have almost the entire show between me and my friend - and I have 2 sources of flacs - DPA4060 and Schoeps mk4 from dime. I was desperately searching for someone to take on this editing project - and was willing to send all the raw footage for it. Is this on the agenda? send me a PM! i would love for this to happen. and if you are on dime - a PM there is certainly easier to locate and respond to than the one here on YT.
Tried to have for long and strain We were riding on a desert wind We were pulling in the spiritual Riding on the desert wind We could see it in the distance Getting closer every minute We saw the lights and spiritual shining Getting closer every minute Then we skipped the rails, and we started to fail And we folded you, and it's not enough Think about how close we came I wanna walk like a giant on the land I wanna walk like a giant on the land Whenever I see the big fire coming, Coming to burn down all my ideas I try to hold down to my thinking, and remember how it feels When I'm looking right in your eyes And hearing your happy laugh When I'm seeing your blue eyes shining And hear your happy laugh So the moment came, and the big sky rained and And a pool of fire served in my desire When I think about how good it feels I wanna walk like a giant on the land I wanna walk like a giant on the land
Shit. Poncho, Billy and Anthony are the best, Neil Obviously. Truly the best backing band there ever was. I understand Billy had a stroke. Eff, that breaks my heart. Care and luck folks.
A thunderstorm inside the Madison Square Garden!!!?! Are you for real? This was all part of the song, it's the Giant Walking on the land! The wind was created by huge fans on the stage side and the sound bites at the end are extracts from the Woodstock soundtrack. It was a wink at the Rust Never Sleeps Tour in the late seventies where he used the same soundtrack. I saw the exact same show 4 days before at the Montreal Bell Center and he did exactly the same thing!
Neil is a musical genius and artist....but I saw this same show in another town and Neil played MAYBE 11 songs in total. Agreed, this man does NOT need to answer to ANYONE as far as his abilities and his version of putting on a production....He has earned it!.....but C'MON Neil....Your musical catalog is HUGE and you chose to kill 24 minutes of a show by distortion. At least you played Powderfinger and Cinnamon Girl.....that was all you could fit in after Walk Like A Giant...... *shrugs*
powderfinger2712 You are right. Neil plays what he feels, when he feels and the way he feels. And he just cant do it another way. ( that is what he calls "play the clown" , and he is bad at this game) That is why he is so big. Always new and different. It is a gift he shares with us.
I am a huge Neil Young Fan but this song is way too long live. Huge time waster for a show. Then he ends up playing like only 12-14 song setlists. He is great but I hate when he pulls this crap!
LOVE This - You can really smell the Horse!! Remember, Neil is 67 yrs Young (Born 11/12/45) - To be a relevant band making great music after 45 years is nothing short of LIVING LEGENDS!!!
Smell that horse, it lives in a Rusted out garage.
Just saw them in Brooklyn on Monday night. Spectacular. And this was the highlight of the night. Moments before he started this song, my friend yelled in my ear "He is the last breath of Woodstock."
"those helicopter days" as Neil later wrote.
legendary performance on Jimi's birthday. Glad i got to share it with my dad
Art does not get more real than Neil.
Complete commitment.
John, the artist makes the pass...
But his art remains in history....
Yes...

***** Nice to meet you Zoso!
Was für ein Meisterwerk von Superstar Neil Young ✌️ I Loved 💋💋
As a Scotsman living in Australia. He is a national treasure.
I cant think of anything better than having a pint with a Scotsman in Austrailia while listening to Crazy Horse records playing on the pub jukebox.
This will be a legendary Neil Young song. Like so many others!
I was at that show too; I was actually there to see Patti and wasn't very familiar with Neil's work, but he won me that night! What a great performer, so full of energy. And this song was my favourite :)

This is the REAL STUFF!!!! Amazing Performance - pure Magic!
i was there too....neil and the boys rocked the freakin house down....with a deep groove of pure heart and soul.....i loved it.....magic
I can imagine some teens in the crowd wondering who the geezers on stage are, then wondering why their ears are bleeding and their fists are pumping in the air.

This song for me is too short ...It could be played forever.
there never will be anybody like neil young. rock on
I remember at the concert in Windsor, tripping, eyes closed, blissed out to the Giant's gigantic stomps of distortion. I opened my eyes and people were streaming out. I turned to my wife and asked what was going on. "They're leaving" she explained with curt desire. It didn't work out between us.
Did they not know Neil shreds!?!? Hoping for a night of folk?
@@GettingHyphy just not prepared for the mighty Horse!
Iv seen it happen also what did they expect it was niel with the horse 🐎 people who were expecting harvest are the ones walking out
People were leaving a Neil show while in progress? In Canada? That's insane. Neil shows have been the best times of my life. Makes me sad.
And it breaks my heart to think how close we came...walk like a giant ...
Since were currently living in 1955 again, maybe its time for the 60's to reappear.
YOU MADE IT NEIL! YOU'RE A GIANT OF A HUMAN BEING! 💝
this is a work of art
Yeah this was amazing, seen this concert in Adelaide Australia in 2011, fn love Neil Young ❤️
SOOOOOO GOOOOD!....Thank you!!!
This song grew on me gradually...like some of his other songs, I didn't get it at first. My bad. Love this.

Good stuff. Like Ramada Inn was of his later classics 👍🏽
There is a song in the giant folklore, entitled Play like Neil Young
Walk like a Giant. Incredible guitarist. Lyricist
Elemental. Force of Nature in Sound. Ends in Silence. & Rain.
Art does not get more real than Neil.

NY is a humble giant .One day the story will be told .
Neil is authentic Rock !! .. True Rock !!

Thanks for the Neil video's. I was two people behind you.
One of best shows I've seen, though I always say that after a Neil Young concert.
Happy B Day Neil, btw, 11/12. I love this guy's output from all eras. The TRUE Neil Fans are not fickle and appreciate him for what he is, an artist who follows the muse. Wonderful concert in Oslo 7 August. Watch and listen to the artist. He has something so tell you!!!
Quite the opposite for me. I love listening these epic monster jams, and I love to play similar stuff on our rehearsals also. Long may you jam!
This song was ringing in my head as I walked like a Giant in Utah while elk hunting.. Neil Young will forever be a Giant
One word - AWESOME - end of
Wow what a performance...& I thought I was a pitch bend, feed back nut lol. Rock on Neil!
Take me back to the night we met.........1969 -72
Little sequence fuckup at 10:27 but I love Neil's reaction looking at Sampedro! These guys have SO much fun playing together at it shows! Long live Neil
I'm a bass player. Billy is one of my favorites. You can HAVE Marcus Miller and those other wenies- Billy is GOD.
Guitar on fire.
He just keeps churning them out , the never ending Neil young
Maestro
Such a pure raw distortion in a lot of his music. no one like him..
pure music no hype..human emotion
when ole Neil brings those "live rust" era giganto Fender stage props out of storage, shit's gonna get loud and crunchy.
ALLBEARSRULE - thank you for Neils MSG video - video pairs up WELL with same MSGarden FLACs of same event (better audience sound / w minor audiogap adjustment). You - have - the - goods my friend !

A good humanitarian, rock on!
Tried to have for long and strain
We were riding on a desert wind
We were pulling in the spiritual
Riding on the desert wind
We could see it in the distance
Getting closer every minute
We saw the lights and spiritual shining
Getting closer every minute
Then we skipped the rails, and we started to fail
And we folded you, and it's not enough
Think about how close we came
I wanna walk like a giant on the land
I wanna walk like a giant on the land
Whenever I see the big fire coming,
Coming to burn down all my ideas
I try to hold down to my thinking, and remember how it feels
When I'm looking right in your eyes
And hearing your happy laugh
When I'm seeing your blue eyes shining
And hear your happy laugh
So the moment came, and the big sky rained and
And a pool of fire served in my desire
When I think about how good it feels
I wanna walk like a giant on the land
I wanna walk like a giant on the land
Fantastico!
Unreal! Neil is up there with Jimi Hendrix and Jimmy Page!
And zimmy
epic ending.
Freakin' legend.
I used to walk like a giant
Shit. Poncho, Billy and Anthony are the best, Neil Obviously. Truly the best backing band there ever was. I understand Billy had a stroke. Eff, that breaks my heart. Care and luck folks.
I wanna catch him live and hear this
Relax sad the nightman, you can never leave
I'd be disappointed if I went to his show and he didn't play this.
Another epic ( I mean giant ) MSG moment
NEIL YOUNG
Walk like a Giant.
Who are the 12 idiots that gave this a thumbs down...go listen to Beyoncé
Bob Dylan says, " There is nobody like Neil Young."
Can we just accept that Neil Young is God and get it over with? Thank you.
Classic
The pope of the folk
King Lear during the storm on the heath!
What is Neil doing at around the 18th minute?
A Stoners jamb if there ever was one…. Enjoy the ride
Don’t know this was filled. But sound is actually not that bad.
fuck yes.
Shit - Full-fuckin'-on!!
insane
It sure is.
At 15:30 a thunderstorm erupts and the band rides it out until the end.
A thunderstorm inside the Madison Square Garden!!!?! Are you for real? This was all part of the song, it's the Giant Walking on the land! 25 min song??? wtf Wasting a good show!
I do not want to hear 25 minutes of banal songs at your concerts anymore.
Jimi Ange
How much time do you spend waiting in lines or in traffic? Turn on your radio for 3 min songs AND adds. Enjoy.
I am a huge Neil Young Fan but this song is way too long live. Huge time waster for a show. Then he ends up playing like only 12-14 song setlists. He is great but I hate when he pulls this crap!
