  • www.shoreexcursionsgroup.com/... We booked our excursion to swim, jump, and slide down the Damajagua Waterfalls in the Dominican Republic. We did this excursion on Feb 11, 2020. We booked it through Shore Excursions Group. I'm glad we did because my friends booked it through our cruise ship, Carnival, and weren't allowed to do the jumps. The water was so clear and the jumps were so fun. The highest jump is 25 feet in the air. There are also amazing rock slides that you get to slide down. This video shows the highlights of this excursion. We would definitely do it again and highly recommend it!

    I just attended this excursion last week (August 2023) while on Carnival Mardi Gras for $142. This was absolutely soooo much fun! I was with a group of about 60 people. We rode Dune Buggies first and shopped at their tourist centers. Then we started with the Waterfalls hike. I was only able to walk a part of the mountain waterfall hike due to problems with my foot and ankle... and the HEAT of the DR overwhelmed me for a while!! 😓 So one of the wonderful guides took 3 of us ladies around via a different, flatter route to the last Waterfall. The 3 of us were at least 45 minutes ahead of the rest of our group, so we 3 only experienced the final Waterfall. There are about 6 or 7 waterfalls. Ziplining is also a part. However, our wait was beside the beautiful blue water in a cavern. Not ONE mosquito bit us and the guides were so kind. We met up with everyone else and hiked back together. You walk over stones and through streams returning. You WILL get soaking wet and very dirty! It is a VERY high altitude (mountains). Lockers, swim shoes, and Water bottles were provided, but not very cold. I wore my own sneakers for walking, wading, and climbing. Consider buying special cameras for water and plastic holders for cell phones. This makes a memory of a lifetime for your family. Be sure to tip the guys that stay with you ALL day. The DR has poverty and they appreciate it. 🏞🏝💙

    Went on this excursion back in 2005, its absolutely stunning. Back then there wasn't all the wooden platforms to jump from. The guides that took us there literally threw us up waterfall after waterfall. Eventually reaching a point where we had to come back down. Jumping off rock faces and sliding down natural slides back to the main pool at the bottom. I would recommend this trip to anyone, it is amazing

    This looks like a lot of fun. How deep is the water during some of the jumps? I have a younger sibling that wants to do this excursion with us but they're not a great swimmer. Are the life jackets enough to make up for a weak swimmer or is there other assistance available that you know of?

    • @JordanOutside

      HI Andrew, I am 6 feet tall and I didn't touch the bottom on the high jumps. There are a few sections where we swam through because it was deep, but with the life jacket on it was pretty easy. Even with the life jacket on, you will still go all the way underwater on a lot of the jumps. If your younger sibling is ok going underwater that would help a lot. Hope this helps 😀

I would recommend knowing how to swim for this excursion, but you will be wearing a life vest, so on the taller jumps you will you all the way underwater and then come back up because of the life vest. This might be pretty scary if you don't know how to swim. You don't need to be a great swimmer, but the basics of just doggy paddling would be enough. Yes, you do need to bring your own water shoes. You will be hiking up to the falls in those water shoes, so I recommend something comfortable. My wife and I both wore close toed water shoes (Keens) and they did great. I hope this helps. 😀

After we were in the water for a minute or two it didn't feel cold anymore. The water is pretty clear when undisturbed, but when people walk through it they are stirring up the sand on the bottom which can make it hard to see through. So I would say it is clean, but because of the sand at the bottom it can look a little murky. While swimming you can see anything close to you, but not far in the water. I hope that helps. Did you book thru carnival? I’m thinking maybe booking thru the actual company it’s listed as $700 Dominican pesos so $12USD as opposed to the $96 carnival is charging.

    Thank you!

    • @JordanOutside

      Hi Yurika, no our tour did not include lunch. Every tour has at least 2 guides. Usually one at the front and one at the back. The guides are always making sure you don't do anything dangerous. • @JordanOutside
      @JordanOutside  2 года назад +1

      Hi Anand, there are places where it is deep and you can't touch, but you are wearing a life jacket so you do float. I personally would not do this excursion not knowing how to swim. Jumping off a 25 foot platform and going under the water (even with the life jacket on) would be too much for me if I didn't know how to swim. So technically yes you could do it, but I wouldn't recommend it. Hope that helps 😀
