Hi Veena, I tried this cake today without the alcohol. I have been making the kerala plum cake the past 4-5 years, after soaking fruits and nuts in rum for mote than a month at least. And found that this cake has really turned out way better than i expected. I thought the rum was the real taste of the cake. But as mentioned, this is instant and tastes no less than the cake with rum. Thank you sooo much for sharing this recipe.

Followed the same recipe and got loads of compliments. I didn’t use cake Jeera and rum.. also soaked the dry fruits for 12 hours instead of 10 mins. Hence instead of rum substituted with same amount of orange juice. Also instead of tutty frooty, used dates.. Sugar was substituted with light brown sugar. 1 cup of light brown sugar was very sweet indeed. Hence as she mentioned we can have 3/4 th cup as well. I liked the sweetness though... this is a real good recipe!!!
