I would love to see more building on camera. building is like 80% of this game. Love the videos. I think the tutorials are nice for new players but for people who have played, the building content will be more entertaining.
Smoke dissipates as it moves, either up or sideways. In a small area, it builds up enough to put the fire out or cause you damage. As long as you let it rise 4 meters, this should not be a problem. Your ceiling is high enough that even with all those fires going, the smoke has enough area to just dissipate without the need for a chimney.
The building episodes are great! However I would really like to see more of the actual, you know... building parts of it. It can even fit into the tutorial mode as you can show people how you map out how big to make the build, and more of the creative process. Skipping or speeding up the really repetitive parts are fine, but then we can see you use new building pieces as you get them.
All your aesthetic building things were all new to me and so awesome. So yeah, would love to see either quick/short building tutorials or longer full build vids. Whichever you feel like doing.
Would love to see the build videos. You could do a "base progression" series as you have 3 separate buildings in this base, each one unique. Base builds are always appreciated as its sometimes challenging to create new buildings for those of us who have played a while so new ideas are always much appreciated.
Happy Birthday, Kysen. Now do work. As for your question, I like to hear the thought processes as they happen during a build. The plan, then the change in plans. The terrain modifications and workarounds. There are some nice, HUGE, builds out there. But how did they come to be. What were the problems that had to be solved that weren't anticipated. I thought of a build into the side of a steep hill/mountain. I've always wanted (IRL) a subterranean home. Doesn't work in H&H. So... Change of plans. But it's the process that's fun. Just killed Moder, so will take some time from hunting/gathering, and will build.
Your building videos are my favorite! I definitely want more! And I would love to see half of the building process I have seen enough tutorial videos of , unless something new comes out of course...but watching new builds never gets old to me and is a constant inspiration! You are my favorite Valheim RUclipsr. I love the builds and ideas, love the commentary, like the accent, and love the Dad jokes! I always stay to the end just for those! Keep making awesome videos! Cheers!
When you get boars again try making a pen with a roof. For the longest time I had 2 star boars and once I got the drake raid they went right for the pen and slaughtered them before I even had a chance to get out of my building. I nearly tossed the pc out the window at that point lol. The roof will protect them from their attack. So any more I make enclosed pens, especially for 2 star animals.
I've watched a fair few of your videos and I had to share. Smoke cannot ventilate out of an area smaller than 2x2. It will, however, dissipate after lingering in an area for about a minute. I learned that you can dodge-roll out of holding a cart, thanks for that. I also learned that you can adjust the minimap with the . and , buttons. Good videos!
@@Kysen Thanks for the response! :) I'd guess that running all your channels keeps you pretty busy. I love Valheim so much and I've been really impressed with your content. Let me know if you ever needed another viking bro to fill out the party.
Yes please to any and all building videos! The roof crosses (I believe they're called) make pretty and sturdy fences for animal pens, so far mine have been holding up - so far. >.> lol Tyfs! Hope you had a wonderful birthday! 🧁
Loved watching this vid on my lunch break! Wouldn't have been able to watch a full build vid the same way though. That being said, maybe a combination of time lapse and step by step might be a happy medium? Or if you're okay doing these vids like this quick overview one in your Let's Play series and then linking to a build step by step that sounds like more views all around (but also more editing, oof!) I love just seeing the design and trying my own twist, just from this 12 minute video I found so many new techniques I hadn't thought of--the x's as lattice walls, the slats in the roof structure to forego a chimney, the uncooked food on the stands for aesthetic. Just lovely. Found you originally looking for no spoiler versions of basics (like sailing and swamp survival) and now you're my favorite Valheim resource :) Keep it up man!
I watch other RUclips personalities just because they build. There are so many good ideas out there and I think we would like your input as well. Love your videos. Keep up the great work. Valheim is so much more than I thought it would be...I'm hooked!
I'd enjoy watching you build more. You could show us a timelapse or explain a bit then finish parts of the building that take longer without needing explanation. I think a guide about structural integrity and decorations would be nice, as you seem to have some talent for the latter.
There is a good video on youtube on how the smoke works. It basically needs a 2x2 hole to vent otherwise it doesn't. The reason why it works in your building is because the smoke particles despawn after a certain amount of time so in your case they accumulate in the attic and despawn there.
Would love to see some of those stone walls around the boars for 3.0 LOL. Put a workbench in there too so you don't have mobs spawning in there. You could add some building to your videos. A few minutes on how or why you placed the things that you did during the building process would be fantastic.
I enjoy the videos and the length 20-30 min is good. It would like to see a little more building. You can skip weather/gathering/events to save time. Happy belated birthday and keep up the excellent content!
It would be to see more building but more of the funny things that happen while building. Like falling from high places without food and dieing or even just the parts where half of it falls down when you think you had it right lol
I really enjoy seeing the building aspect of this game and I think it would be super cool to see more of that on cam. I have also had a great time watching your streams which showcase a combination of building and tutorials. You have an awesome sense of humor and I absolutely look forward to watching more of your content thank you so much.
@@Kysen Thanks for replying Kysen. I'm new to the Kysen community but I've been playing Valheim since launch. It's a fantastic game and I really enjoy watching your content on it. It always makes me laugh. I'm keeping up with the guide series but I wanted to ask what order I should go in for watching your older Valheim content?
@@natedeming5869 Well welcome along! :) Glad you like the vids. As for the order, it largely depends on what stage you're at and what you enjoy watching. I have a lot of tutorials on my channel that are for specific things such as sailing, sea serpents, biomes, bosses etc. The Valheim Guide is a mix of tutorial and let's play style and then I also do quick tips videos so yeah whatever you like most really :)
@@Kysen Thanks so much for the info Kysen. I actually just started on your first Valheim live vid and its very entertaining. I think I'll just go in the order you made them in. I'm always happy to learn more about the game and your vids have really changed my approach to the game so thank you. Do you know when your going to be lives streaming again?
I'd be fine with you adding some building to your videos. It would be especially helpful to newer players who are looking for that guidance. I kept losing my boars to events until I finally put the palisade walls around them. It was worth it in the long run especially when I had 1 and 2 star boars that took me awhile to get. I think the chimney and smoke is effected by the height of the ceilings as well as venting. If your ceilings are high enough the smoke collects up there and then dissipates. The pretty ends on your cookhouse aren't actually venting smoke. There would have to be a full (I think 2 mtr) space between any beams or cross pieces. I could be wrong since I haven't fully for scienced it, but that seems to be what has worked in my own builds.
I for one enjoy the 3-4 hour streams. Not being in an area where I can join multiplayer servers I enjoy having you on playback while I build, play and develop my map. A short 10-15min video on what you have and how things work is fun to watch every now and then, but the longer videos is good while playing.
I like building. Even if the build section is 2x or 5x, then show some details on harder stuff. But final build videos are great. Anything to get everyone’s creative building brain juices flowing.
I know I'm late to the comments, but I'd love to see the building on camera. Maybe even tutorials on how to build certain buildings and why you make the decisions you make and why not make other decisions, etc. It may help out a newb, like me, when deciding on how to build my homestead up.
You could always time lapse building. Definatly build a more fortified pig farm. Later you will need a roof over them as well or the drake raids will wipe them out as well.
Seeing the building process itself is not really interesting, but i really liked how you showed us around, and explained what you had build, your thoughts on the process, and why you would need it, instead of watching a timelapse for example. In this video you go in to detail about how you decorated your kitchen, and how the layout of crafting stations and storage was planned to be efficient, easy to use and nice to look at at the same time - I really liked that :)
I set up on the elder spawn. Built a 3 story wood building encompassing the entire footprint of it. The only problem is Draigr coming out of the swamp a few hundred meters away.
Building tips/designs would be nice. I ended up making a half stone/wood monstrosity that eats a lot of my FPS, all the terraforming for farms, terraforming into a large hill and outer wall probably doesn't help that either. Spacing of the two middle hearths worked to give good but incomplete coverage for warmth to maintain the rested stat everywhere inside at all times. Not sure how to enclose the dock to prevent mobs from just swimming around and walking up the dock steps, maybe I should have had an inner wall for the docks. Mobs CAN spawn in the terraformed and built areas within the walls because of spotty spawn protection, planning to place wards all over as decorative pieces anyway, they stop spawns like workbenches and also are supposed to reduce damage mobs do to structures. I'd say the main things preventing me from building the base exactly as I wanted were 2x1 and 1x1 stone building pieces randomly breaking despite having green support rating (arches, small stone blocks just above foundation, even a 4x2 wall segment on the outer wall despite being yellow/orange support). Wall segments most frequently break near doorways or by pillars, supporting them with corewood beams reduces but doesn't stop them spontaneously breaking. The second problem was lack of iron to make wood-iron beams to make the building all stone since I needed it for equipment.
Love the Vid's!!! Love to see some building videos. Might be hard as if you go to step by step it be boring yet if its all time lapse you lose out on the thought progress.
Smoke only seems to exit through a full 2x2 opening but if you have enough volume in the attic it will just dissipate on its own before it accumulates too much.
Oh you didn't do a live coverage of this building. I love to see this design. I new to this and it great to see your creative moments you construct like you did in your previous live coverage.
When you paved the area between the buildings, the mushrooms seemed undisturbed. If you harvest them now, will they continue to grow back out of the paved ground? I like building videos, but mostly to see WHAT people are doing. Not so much HOW to do it, unless it’s an Update feature or something especially clever. Thanks!!! Oh, and speeded up - the building videos are best when they’re part narrated and part speeded up.
Wondered if you were going to try and revisit the Greydwarf Farm? It looks like digging a pit and trapping 3 spawns no longer halts spawning of new monsters. I dug a pit and caught 3 - still spawning. Dug a bigger pit and ended up with 4 Brutes, 4 Shaman and 8 or 10 greydwarves..... love to hear your take on this.
Yeah I will make one at some point during this series. Should be an interesting challenge because I know they aren't as easy as they used to be. I'll probably make it later in the series though
I've had issues trying to add wood to my fires, maybe with the hearth that isn't so bad but I've had to delete a cooking station refuel the fire and then add it back, I might just change back to my preference of just three because then adding wood is much easier or get to the hearth again :)
You're not the only one with some bad luck with boars. Every time I get a 1star (haven't seen a 2star since the update) when I try to move them to my breeder I get an event... I have a couple currently breeding a ways away from my base so I can have as many spares as possible when I try again -.-
that chimney will not make the fire rainproof! Maybe if you added the items on both sides you could argue that it is then rainproof and I might agree but I would need to test and see because I tried that with my little 3 by 4 shacks at the start and it turned NOT to actually be rainproof but it did let the smoke out so I did not die in the house.
Yes definitely want to have flower beds when I have more turnips, I need the ones I have atm to grow my farm and use for food :) Behind the bed is just empty space rn
My biggest problem is building the roof If i make the building to big the foundation for the roof would be weak So i just spaming the iron to make it strong and it cost me so much iron Do you have any suggestion?
Vids like these are great. Most of your vids I pick to watch are 40 minutes or less. Any longer than that and I would lose interest LoL But, I mainly watch your How-To. Doin' a fine job with the instructionals and the content.
That isn't how smoke works. How do you not know that? Smoke in Valheim will not vent with less than a significant opening, like 2 meter by 2 meter, or somewhat smaller. This is well documented here by others. Those slats vent no smoke. What is happening is that as long as you have enough space, the smoke will simply dissipate and despawn. Again, how do you not know this. For example, you can build a chimney, build it about 3 or 4 full walls high, and then fully cap it off. And what you will see is the fire never gets smoked out, and the smoke simply disappears. Nice content, and great creativity. Just wanted to point out this well known aspect of smoke.
Raising boars is frustrating. I had 2 successful pens, rarely attacked. When I added a pig pen next to my main base, with kiln and smelter nearby, the raids began. A single troll killed all 20 boar. Rebuilt. The ground shook, 2 trolls killed the 12 boar. I built a stockade. Again. Raised a stone wall. The swamp stink came, boars were poisoned through the walls and blobs jumped into the pen. My boars reside in a porkitentiary now surrounded by a deep moat. 👍🏻 Best not to place boars near high value targets, like kilns, cooking stations or workbenchs.
Are your pens roofed and inside the perimeter walls of your base, right next to the perimeter? I do this to prevent damage from raids on my base. If the pets aren't visible to raid monsters, they don't get aggro. Instead they just stand outside the perimeter walls, as close as they can get to the pets. But because they can't see the pets, their aggro switches off and they remain in 'yellow dot' semi-aware state. I've sniped entire raid groups of Fulings, Draugr/Skellies and Greydwarves with my bow from a distance and they take no notice of me. As long as they can't see my pets, and my pets are closer to them than I am, their AI fixates on the pets and ignores everything else - including me.
No the slats on the sides serve no purpose, if you do not believe me I suggest you close them off just to test and see if all of a sudden you have smoke issues. I'm gonna guess not but what do I know, not much except FireSpark81 did a smoke test and showed how you can build without a chimney now I think I did not really understand it all so watch his video. I would guess that your 4 fires the "Hanging Brazier" will try and kill you if you let it :) If the slats work you should be able to see the smoke leaving the building. I will say me and rain and smoke do not always agree on how everything should work :)
Very nice kitchen build, I love the ventilation and beams around the house. Smoke will linger in your house and eventually decay after a certain time (or distance travelled), so apart from aesthetics your ventilation concept is useless, unfortunately. The game apparently does not consider anything but a 2m x 2m opening as such meaning chimneys and ventilation needs to have at least that size. Beams and other partial blocks will still block smoke from exiting a confined space. I hope they will fix this in the future.
The smoke moves up as a solid block of particles, as Sanya said. Yours works because there is enough distance from the fire for the smoke to go and linger in the rafters and refresh itself. If you had the roof too low, you would get smoke problems and the fire would extinguish itself for a few seconds every now and then (because the smoke particle block would get trapped too low and wait to expire). It doesn’t travel sideways and out of the vents like in the real world, unfortunately.
no your building is your own and so is mine. I do like the tid-bits were you show some possible interactions between materials and watching you build is ok but seeing the final product holds no interest to me at least. thumbs up by the way keep making great videos.
The explanation is fine and all but the building and grinding is the game, for some reason almost all RUclips game presenters seem to think that it is boring and when 90% of the game is cut because of it not to mention the episode is now 10min or less because of it. I like to watch and listen to what happens during regular gameplay not these cut scenes slap together. don't edit so much and just capture what happens, it can be more interesting, just remember that real things happening can be more fun than made up ones.
I would've loved to see more of these guide, tutorial and base building videos with this length of the video or even 30 minutes is also fine but these 1-3 hour streams is to much.
Maybe take another look at your sleeping space. Yes, I'm sure your comfort is great, but it would be cool to stop and see if you need all that stuff. Yes, I know many add stuff just because we can and because it looks better, and for you that is great, but now I come along and I add one thing and delete three and see that my comfort actually went up and I'm like why did Kysen have all that stuff in his room it makes no sense to this minimalist. Just a comment.

I wouldn't mind seeing the building processes.
You're not the only one with some bad luck with boars. Every time I get a 1star (haven't seen a 2star since the update) when I try to move them to my breeder I get an event... I have a couple currently breeding a ways away from my base so I can have as many spares as possible when I try again -.-
As someone getting the hang of the game now,I'm always looking for more info on building!
doesn't the pumpkin lanterns give additional comfort level?
And yes more building 😃
I thought so but apparently not!
Happy late birthday Kysen🤙🏼🤙🏼
I would like to see those other videos
that chimney will not make the fire rainproof! Maybe if you added the items on both sides you could argue that it is then rainproof and I might agree but I would need to test and see because I tried that with my little 3 by 4 shacks at the start and it turned NOT to actually be rainproof but it did let the smoke out so I did not die in the house.
I love building content! Did you consider planting some flower beds with the carrots and turnips?
What is behind the bed area?
Yes definitely want to have flower beds when I have more turnips, I need the ones I have atm to grow my farm and use for food :) Behind the bed is just empty space rn
The hight of the building makes the smaken disappear. There is a video on smoke in Valheim that explains it all.
Combined with the length the smoke can travel. Placing your hearths on one side of the building saves you :)
Yes please I would love see u build also to guide us how to build safe house from raids too. Best support to u ❤️❤️❤️🙏
My biggest problem is building the roof
If i make the building to big the foundation for the roof would be weak
So i just spaming the iron to make it strong and it cost me so much iron
Do you have any suggestion?
Core wood structures can be a cheaper alternative but it really depends on the build
New boar names: "Chris.P Bacon" and "Saul.T Bacon".
Yes building. I need ideas
welcome back! hope the birthday was everything you hoped it'd be 😎
and in all honesty i love all and any of your Valheim content
Thanks so much 🙂
Vids like these are great. Most of your vids I pick to watch are 40 minutes or less. Any longer than that and I would lose interest LoL But, I mainly watch your How-To. Doin' a fine job with the instructionals and the content.
Build vs/or tutorial? I like both so maybe do both.
Happy birthday!
I got fed up of sleeping on the floor so I just placed my bed on top of a table instead
i love your joke section!
At this stage... it's not worth having boars breeding anymore...
I would guess that your 4 fires the "Hanging Brazier" will try and kill you if you let it :)
If the slats work you should be able to see the smoke leaving the building. I will say me and rain and smoke do not always agree on how everything should work :)
Yes, show more on camera building.
Your footage is so smooth. I have a pretty decent GPU and great monitor and it never looks this good. Any idea why?
Make sure you're recording in 1080p at 60 FPS and that you render your video in both of those settings too
Very nice kitchen build, I love the ventilation and beams around the house.
Thanks for the feedback I appreciate it :) and thanks for the support :)
BRAY-Z'YER
I would've loved to see more of these guide, tutorial and base building videos with this length of the video or even 30 minutes is also fine but these 1-3 hour streams is to much.
Does architect have a building channel?
How do get the signs look like that, my sign dont have letters on
Liked, and left a comment to help you with the RUclips Algorithm...
I would like to see real builds for sure. Not rediculus builds that could never be accomplished without cheating :)
and more intresting sry for making it more than one messege
makes it faster
i honestly like it not on camera🎥❌
