Earthen wall (top with wood palisade if you want). Trench outside the wall. Double ring of trees outside the trench. Trolls will not be able to pass through your tree fence. Smaller creatures will be stopped by the wall and trench. Elevate your gate about halfway up your wall with stairs up and down. At the end of the exit stairway at the trench edge, place a one wood tile landing board. Jump the gap over the trench. Pulling a cart just lay boards across the gap and take them up after you are over. Creatures do not jump gaps. make a “T” shaped exit from your tree fence at your gate. Put a small line of trees at the top of the “T” so when you leave you can turn left or right as you leave your base. The space between the tree fence and the line of trees for the top of your “T” should be just big enough to fit a cart. This is too narrow for a troll. You “DO NOT” need to use stone and iron to build effective base defenses. Raising the earth is free. Tree seeds you will get while harvesting wood. Note that Deathsquitos have spawn points. They do patrol a short distance around these points. Build your plains base away from these spawn points and you will not have them bothering you in base. I always build on the shore or islands as you will need easy access to your boat.
I can always tell the builder players verses a survival players. The builder players make these cool bases that cost a fortune in game time in material harvesting. Many of them have nice looking structures that are not optimally functional. For example in this build, he walls in his cooking station so that you could only access it from the front so you can only put in one small rack that cooks “two” items at a time. The a amount of stone he uses is huge in harvesting time. You don’t see any stone formations nearby which means you have to haul all that stone to your build site. The iron work is pretty but here again the amount of time needed to collect and smelt that much iron is just not worth it for a survival player There is no path which would make pulling your heavily loaded cart to the build site. No piles of wood and stone nearby. He is creating materials on the fly with no weight limit. Nice job but not practical for survival players.
@@barrett5229 No I don’t. The survival players will have nice looking bases but you will see the primary goal is functionality first with aesthetics second. They spend the time to grind materials and set up roads or resource bases with docks to haul the materials back to base by boat or cart. I’ve seen some really nice looking survival bases but they don’t make the elaborate bases the builders make. Most of the builders I watch don’t even play the regular game much if at all. Just play the game the way you want. Both styles of play are fun. It is a great game.

The feeling you get from putting in that focused time, planning, and follow through is almost indescribable through words but this music expresses that feeling wholly and thoroughly. This is the first video I've watched of yours and subbed solely off this observation. Great stuff man.
10:45 I know a slightly cheekier way of securing the front door, build stacked gates in the hole, they work like a draw bridge, though you do have to open and close them all manually.
I tried those gates. They do work but are a pain in the ass to deal with constantly. Functional but not practical. Just make a landing board at your door and just jump the gap. Pulling a cart. Just bridge the gap with wood tiles and take them back up once you cross.
I don't know what that means but I find this video incredibly relaxing and profound. It expresses the many tiny tedious task it takes to make one whole great. Just beautiful. But can't just let structural support clip like that. 😉

Not impressive since it was build using creative mode, which is same as using cheats. Try doing that without any help of creative mod in a real survival stimulation on a normal difficulty, by the time you build this base, you'll be wiped out of the map.
If you even liked this amazing game you'd just play it and be absorbed by it. Unfortunately, instead, you use game dynamics and debugmode to build a base to keep you safe... why? Having to fight and survive is part of being a Viking on the road to proving you belong in Valhalla! This is why you must hide behind your walls in Valheim, as no Valkyries shall visit you on the battlefield. Only children and the dogs digging in Earth are impressed by your lazy ways. Odin is not.

Build on an island or under an elder boss platform to be 100% safe, anywhere else and flying events will break your stuff

the hordes are so easy to kill I can do it in my sleep why would you need an invincible base
