Aww, thanks, Tracy! :) Being a mom, you can't help but capture those kids in the shot! LOL As they've gotten older, sometimes I just have to invite them to be a part of it, otherwise the project (and video!) won't get done! LOL
I love how that dresser turned out. I wish it were here, I have the perfect spot for it 😀. The designs on the front are one word: gorgeous. I enjoy your creativity and your sense of humor Serrena!!
You are amazing ! I especially enjoy that you include your children in your projects . You are teaching them a lesson that will go with them their entire lives ! You are a precious mother ! My parents started a family in their 30 'S and my father would train the kids how to sell build stuff....my father could do anything ! He bought cars rebuilt them and painted them and sold them right there on the corner in El Paso tx where I grew up . He was amazing just like you. Well I was the baby of the family and when he picked up a hugh truck load of watermelon s and cantaloupe he trained my brother and sister how to sell door to door in English and Spanish . ..I always wanted to go but because I was the baby I was left behind . He built these little stools with them so they could see the basics of how things were built . But when it came time for me I was yet left out again . My brother grew up and became a great sales man with Nabisco . But there was one thing that always bugged me was this. He bought a nice piece of property with land a a nice house . I had moved away from Texas when I married this clown well anyway when I moved back I stayed with them for a while in their grand house they always bragged . What kinda drove me crazy was every door knob in the house was loose or broken . He never even tried to fix any of them I mean anything in the house . ..nothing my daddy spent time with him to show him how to care for things and I got left out of that entirely . Oh well I have taken care of things when needed and I didn't have my daddy show me I figured it out myself . And I the old lady who is 66 is still trying to get things done . When you did the makeover of you pantry you mentioned something to pretreatment the wood before you stain the wood . Well my precious daughter and I live in a small duplex and I came up with a plan to put up shelves so I would have a place for pretty stuff portraits and stuff . So I have shelves in the living room bedroom and kitchen . Now I can decorate with out taking up floor space I do not have . Now I can't say they are very level but when I throw up some greenery flowers pictures I don't think anyone would notice that much . I will stain the wood when I can get to it but I will watch your pantry show before I start . I'm in the middle of making a chandelier for my daughter's room. I saw this diy and I am copying it but I have discovered that diys aren't always the cheapest way to get something . Hahahahaha ! Thank you for your inspiration ! You are wonderful !
Hey there Elizabeth! I love hearing about how your dad taught your family how to sell and built. What a hardworking man! You should have been able to go along and learn too. Thankfully, today we have RUclips! 😁 You have just reminded me of how important it is to teach my children what I know. I allow them to help when they can, but I need to get them to be more hands on, for sure. Thanks for making me understand this. And I hope your shelf staining goes well! You sound very proud of them, crooked or not. 😉
I stumbled upon this video while I was searching for ways to fix up a dresser that I have from my parents. It has been in my family for eons but it needs to be painted and spruced up, it is sturdy, the hardware is perfect, fits a ton of clothing, it's just that the outside of the thing looks its age and does not match my decor or style. The dresser itself as far as the finish looks like the one in this video before it was done. I never heard of this type of paint before, I don't really get to do this kind of thing often. I was worried about my lack of work space, but I like that I won't need to move the thing out of the house to work on it. Glad I found this, gonna look into it! Definitely Subscribed though!
Thank you so much for posting. I'm a single mother of 2 girls and my youngest has never had new furniture...this will help me to give her something "new" and beautiful!!!
I have looked everywhere for what I really want. THIS! This right here. Your stenciling is what I've been looking for. I just didn't know how to get that design. Thanks so much for this video. It was gorgeous.
Wow, I’m so glad you changed your mind and went with Linen on the drawer fronts, the contrast is subtle and with the stencil it turned out just beautiful.
I was like ok it's cute. But when you put that stencil on I was WOW. Ok where can I get a large stencils? Please help I have an old piece I have been waiting to refinish. Now I know what I want to do with it. Thanks for sharing. I love it.
I was so happy to come across your video. I have a dresser that I want to paint, but had no way of bringing it downstairs to the outside. Discovering Beyond Paint is a blessing. I ordered it in Soft Gray. Then I saw your video using the soft gray on a French provincial dresser. That’s the style of my dresser. Perfect!!! Thanks for your videos.
If you were doing this today, would you use the same paint brand? I love the "no prep" and being able to do this in the house aspects of this DIY. Love the bloopers at the end. This has been helpful for yet another project, 2 nearly free pieces of overstocked hotel furniture in the living room that I bought with the intention of painting. So glad I found this video. Donna D.
+lovefragrantlily Thank you! LOL. Glad you enjoyed the video! Would you do me a huge favor?? I've just been selected as a finalist for the Home + Garden 2016 Trendsetter award! This is HUGE! Would you please vote for me? You can vote daily! I would appreciate it! Vote here: thriftdiving.com/vote Thank you!!!
Wow..... Fabulous !! I've seen that design so many times on dresser re-dos and thought is would be very difficult, but you made it look so easy. Thanks...
That looked great!.....I fell in love with a stenciled chester drawer in the movie 2 can play That Game......it was in Vivica Fox room......it looked like it was stenciled in gold.....I've been wanting to re-create a similar design every since.....this so inspiring ....that I am going to try it.......Thanks for sharing!
That looks so pretty. Looks like you covered the drawers in a nice high end fabric. Quick tip: put a magnet (or two) in the bag with your dresser’s hardware. That way if you have a spill fewer pieces will scatter.
You are such an inspiration, and do such amazing work. You have inspired me to start my own furniture painting business, as well as a RUclips channel. Thank you so much!!!
This reclaim paint looks amazing. I had not heard of it. I'm going to check it out. Chalk paint works amazing too. I painted my old laminate dresser with it and the results were great. It does not bleed through and does not require prepping. I make my own chalk paint using Calcium carbonate and latex paint.
Girrrl! Like woman! I so wish I could borrow yoU! You are Goooood! Why can I have someone like you in my life 😭 but thanks so much for showing us your talent! I appreciate yoU 😊😘❤️💕💞
@ yiReaLis O. , Her Mother is a *VERY* lucky woman having that girl as a daughter. That Girl is *soooo* bloody good & clever.I don't think even she realises how talented she truly is.
I just came across your videos and I have to say you are very pleasant to listen to as well as inspiring. When I watch your videos I think to myself "she and I would make good friends." Haha anyway, I appreciate what you do. Thank you!
Awesome Job.. I have 2 pieces that I have moved twice and don't want to part with,, you gave me the perfect idea to really keep them.. Not particularly the colors ,,, but your choice was Top Notch.. Thanks for the Video,, Great Click on Right Here..
I hope you know that is Mahogany wood you're painting over!.. I have my mothers bedroom set "2 dressers" from 1940's and they are mahogany wood and look almost exactly like the style of dresser you are painting. Back in the 60's she painted them white and when I got them, I stripped the white and refinished them, they are beautiful and you can see the wood grain!
Looks great!. I paint goodwill IKEA furniture. I always use a paint + primer. Never thought about painting the inside of the drawers. Thanks for sharing.
Yeah, stencils are awesome! You might like this blog post I did on using stencils. Might give you some good ideas! thriftdiving.com/how-to-use-stencils/
That looks lovely. And I would love to have that stencil. Very nice. At first I thought you had used wallpaper. Stencil looks much nicer. I think I would have painted the handles too tho. Nice one!
I always use undercoat paint because it's formulated to cover better than using multiple coats of top paint. A good foundation is very important where you are going from dark to light. Good job! 😂🙏🙏
