This is my favourite of Miyazaki's films and I feel that the trailer does not do justice to this masterpiece. Who agrees with me?
Sari HD me. I feel like the trailers for the other films were much more theatrical. But i suppose its different since Miyazaki didn't make this film with Ghibli. Even then, Nausicaa deserved a better trailer, especially since its my favorite film.
100% agree. But I think trailers were just different back then.
I actually kinda like the trailer! Love it actually. In terms of capturing the entire scope of the film no, but capturing the childlike magic and imagination of Miyazaki maybe. I enjoy it more as a product of its time
Ghibli is gone now since his retirement he made this studio and I seen his son, made only one film.
My fav is Howl's moving castle!!
Nausicaa is one of my favourite Miyazaki films.
Definitly is most underated and my favorite movie from his talent.
It's suck that he's not as popular as any Pixar/Disney movie here.
Arthaslepeureux DEFINITELY, not his most underrated. But I enjoyed the manga a whole lot more.
***** Yes. The manga is...full of so much awesome.
I really hated how they used the fire demon in the film. He was so cool in the manga (yes, I know they made the movie before the manga was finished, but still...).
+eclipsesonic You certainly are the most fervent of ghibli fanatics. I've seen your comments across the vast majority of Ghibli movie trailers on RUclips.
manga is like 3x better tho. it's not rushed imo this one feels so compressed still a great anime nonetheless (disney who?)
It's a really amazing animation for 1984.
Sure is! But hey have you ever seen akira (1988) the animation in that movie is spectacular!
+kakashi101able Yeah, I watched it, too. It has an awesome animation, but I prefer the manga. It has more stuff than the movie.
+Arrowdance Funny you should mention that on this vid, since Nausicaa also has a manga with a lot more going on than in the movie. Check it out if you can.
The year wouldn't make any difference, seeing as it's all hand-drawn!
It's just put together with the computer, which really wouldn't have any effect on the art quality. Or do you mean it's impressive because most of the stuff at the time was crap?
Audrey McKnight
Yes a year has to do with a lot! Like CGI of the 90s. Toys story was amazing for it's time and still today!
"A thousand years have passed since the collapse of industrialized civilization. A toxic jungle now spreads, threatening the survival of the last of the human race"
That opening always send chills down my spine...
it’s literally the future if we don’t get our shit together. not that industrial civilization should be saved, but parts can be salvaged for the good of all, especially keeping hospitals powered with solar panels and windmills (while everyone else lives relatively electricity-free). but we must stop extractive economies. Indigenous peoples around the world have been telling us all along, not in the same way but in a similar spirit.
@@тито-к9в Nice dream... But indigenous small scale societies don't have the man power to create and maintain the production of advanced machines like solar panels or wind farms. considering the world would need a ceaseless supply of these items as solar degrades to be useless after ten years, and wind between fifteen and twenty. Plus you'd also need the satellite industries of heavy plant production and materials plus their satellite industries such as refining. A solar panel is the tip of a massive pyramid of industries.
@gabriellockhart i meant that we would use all the solar that has already been produced, and then rely on wind and (non-dam) hydro for the necessities in hospitals. there is literally no other solution. harnessing electricity as we know it only exists because of a society built on extraction and exploitation, one that has deforested almost the entire planet and continues to eat mountains and drain lakes. you’re right in that solar power requires as much destruction and violence that fossil fuels do, but crucially they do not alter the climate at nearly the same rate, and that’s what we need to focus on mitigating first. the mass extinction event industrial society is causing right now cannot go on.
@@тито-к9в Nope because they'd eventually all degrade and wear out and with no means of producing more we would literally end our species. You see we've gone way past the tipping point to go in reverse. The only way now is forwards, the only chance of survival of our species is to become multi planet species, we need to leave earth and start mining and consuming the asteroid belt. For the survival of our species we need to ditch solar and wind because both of these things are not remotely sustainable and will do considerably more damage then coal or gas. because of these technologies reliance on rare earth materials. The key word being rare. we'll have to strip mine africa and south america. which is stupid and dangerous. our only path forward is nuclear fission and water batteries and low carbon natural gas with next generation thorium reactors. with the hope of that in the next few years we can crack nuclear fusion generators and that piece of tech will essentially remove our need for gas, solar and wind. a wasteless system of generating electricity with no danger of melt down.
And you're also forgotting the benefits of global warming. which means our plants will grow more and thus we'll get more calories per acre of land, a second benefit would be larger cattle. the earth is simply returning to how it was before the last ice age, warm and wet, Pursuing a reversal of carbon could destroy the eco system by creating a mass die off of plants that require CO2 to survive. Our technology is more then enough to protect us from the so called increase in temperature and increased storms..
This movie is incredible but I recommend you all read the Nausicaa manga. The art is amazing and it's Miyazaki's life's work!
The manga is too good
I had an existential crisis after the Manga I swear.
And would I do it again - yes, yes and yes.
I am heavily influenced by the Magna and the film adaptation I am very heavily influenced by the films of Hayao Miyazaki
Where can I read it?
@@lerunya17 Samee, it hits so hard, every single time i finish it, and i at least read this fullmanga 2 times a year
ugh, i'm so happy when people watch nausicaa. whenever people mention their favorite hayao miyazaki films, almost nobody's ever heard of nausicaa.... :( it's my most favorite film that shaped my childhood and i live by it!
Hey, well, for what it's worth, my super awesome college professor told me this film was her favorite! These films aren't usually my cup of tea, but I'm here checking it out because I trust it must be great if she's into it, haha.
Nausicaa is one of the first Ghibli movies I’ve ever seen and it’s my absolute favorite
I just watched it at the cinema :) Quite a good turnout too.
Nausicaa is my favorite Hayao Miyazaki films ever
@@vanitybenevolent Since its pre-ghibli, im super biased to say that its the best ghibli film, before ghibli even existed hahah it really shaped the way man.
Nausicaa is like the bridge between nature and humans!
Even if it's not their highest rated one, to me Studio Ghibli struck gold on their first film. Nausicca and thr Valley of the Wind is a beauitful story about cooperating with nature and I will love it to the end of time.
Love miyazaki's "nature and spirit" main subject, never gets boring and he explore it through so much interesting ideas
Sorry Disney but Studio Ghibli create Heroins that you can't. No no no no, Frozen is just a yuri-sister musical.
You made my night thank you a lot specially after watching for the first time 'the grave of fireflies'
haha Your welcome. But it's the true for me, Disney used to be so good until the PC taked the place of nice drawers hands.
I agree with you I personnally prefer watching animation movies rather than real films because of the art and Studio Ghibli always use that kind of water color stuff that looks so beautiful!
+Kirielle Lilas yaaaaass the scenery in Mononoke was so breathtakingly amazing! with so much detail you could count the amount of hair from the Forest Spirit! And in Spirited Away the sea shone as if you stood next to it!
I love Mononoke Hime is long but so amazing and San is my second favorite heroin (after of Nausicaä) and the first movie that I watched was Spirited Away i still love it. Nausicaä was the "first" after of so much time i didn't watched a studio ghibli movie and now is one my favorite movies of all time.
Mayasaki's gold.
I've never been an anime person but i've been watching Mayasaki films the last 3 weeks and i shit you not they're all good.
So far; Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle, Kiki's Delivery Service and now Nausicaa Valley of the Wind. They're all good.
trvth1s nausica is older than the others you named
Turd Ferg I've seen more since i posted this, including Mayasaki first film
kakashi101able give em to me. Right now i ran out of movies, now i'm watching a series called attack on titan and its great.
Yea dude he's basically a god. And btw its Miyazaki :) Hayao Miyazaki.
+trvth1s
Watch Akira, Ninja Scroll, Fist of the North Star, Vampire Hunter D Bloodlust,Metropolis etc.animes
This movie is fucking beautiful to the point of perfection. I've always been the guy to be mad if the MC didn't get some kind of retribution or revenge on the people who wronged them and this movie just didn't give me that feeling. I'm fine with the peace they had and that's amazing for me.
That isn't the point of the movie. Nausicaa just wants peace, and revenge only takes you farther away from that.
There are no true villains in the movie, only misguided people.
I don't care how outdated this movie is... everyone who loves anime should see it. Great message and music!
Old =/ Outdated
It's a special movie.
VanHalen/StyxFan1992 It is older fs, but I wouldn’t call it outdated; if anything it’s frighteningly more relevant, now.
it's more relevant than ever, how is it outdated
@@bellagarrison7588
it's not outdated, it's timeless classic
I like the 80's style anime then the new anime now
Well it's good that you can like things in order
LMAO
What about Wolf Children or Summer Wars or Vampire Hunter D Bloodlust?
you and me both.
clever.
This movie is way beyond its time.
This trailer doesn't do the movie enough justice.
Tess Crelli still better then warriors of the wind
Yeah I'm seeing this for the first time and it just doesnt look like it has enough story structure. It looks like a collection of random ass weirdness.
To be fair on the trailer, the movie is quite a sprawling epic and pretty difficult to summarize.
I love that the trailer makes it look like it's a cutesy movie about the bravery of a young princess that loves nature and wants to protect everyone yayyyy, when in reality it's so much darker, so much sadder, and so much deeper. This movie is awesome
this is one of the most creative and beautiful movies Studio Ghibli has made. A truly beautiful film.
Rarely have i seen so much righteous beardage and badass moustachery comitted to one single film.
Heroic princess messiah leads the way in an ode to true compassion and male fascial hair.
don't let yupa take off his hat or else his hair will give you night terrors
@@L00PdeL00P His voice will calm you. It is Patrick Stewart's voice after all.
Patrick stewart in nausicaa is a top tier cast
* Self correction *
FACIAL hair.
There probably was the odd character who had hairy fascia. But that was not what I was getting at.
@@SayHelloToMyLittleSchwing
SPS Voice makes everything better.
Heck... he played a Colombian Mob boss and not only made it credible. He was actually kind of charming.
*The movie portrayed the future* if people won't care about the world they live in.
same with like half of miyazaki film haha
Nah man, they moment we developed the capability to navigate the outer space effeciently, we leave this crumbling rock we called earth and we rape some other worlds. To be honest, i'm looking forward to it.
Well it might since our planet is fuck be at least it not a mad Max future that would horrible
Dude if this is what the future looked like then I think I’d be pretty happy
wrg
Best female character in any movie EVER!!!!!
She's very pretty, one of my favourite Studio Ghibli characters.
The end of this movie had me all fucked up. Suddenly I had a new take on life and everything was all beautiful and shit.
+Pretty Gurl Rock
Cheap drugs.
When I finished watching this movie I wanted to move to a rainforest and forget about the rest of humanity.
I haven't watch this movie though. Is it nice?
i agree the movie was good but the ending was so fucked up -_-
Who else is watching this movie during the covid-19 pandemic and feels defeated but also hopeful?
You're not alone, quarantine feels melancholic, but the most important is that it will end sooner or later.
I watched it yesterday
I will watch it today so excited
"Princess, put on your mask!"
This movie is an absolute masterpiece. Nausicaa is a true hero and one of the greatest fictional characters ever written.
40 year later still a classic
In my opinion, the BEST Ghibli film, but I can't explain why.
I love this movie so much it's very underappreciated and it sends a very important message
My gran, who I lived with a lot as a child, used to rent this out of our local library every other week so I could watch it before going to bed. I’m not even a huge anime fan, but something about Nausicaa has really vibed with me my whole life.
It's 2020 and Nausicaa is still the GOAT of Anime movies!
(Akira comes in close 2nd)
What about Ninja Scroll?
I just watched the movie for the first time and it was FUCKING good
Nope...
DkGamerzHD omg i just watched it too its amazing
I loved it. It was the best movie since Fantasia 2000 to me.
I would not compare this movie with disney or other franchise's work..This movie is a masterpiece with a moral value which is rare in today's films.
1984・・ナウシカ、マクロス、うる星やつら2。すごい年だった。
少年ケニアもです。
I liked the movie, but for some reason I thought she was not wearing any pants for the first 20 minutes until i realised the pants are just plain white xD
I'm watching it now and I was like wtf😂
Ahahah me too
Same lol
Cheezeburglar it’s just censored. She really isn’t wearing any pants
I came here looking for an explanation for that
The movie is almost 40 years old? Studio Ghibli is timeless!
in my opinion its one of the best made Miyazaki films. I just wached it and it was so good. Even at the end i cried not because it was sad but just because of how kind lovig and good nausica was ... damn i cried like for an hour
p.s i usually never crie when im waching a movie but Hayao Miyazaki can easily make that happen😢😭😭😭
For me this is the best SG film,
Everyone else can battle for the 2nd spot.
I recently had the pleasure of seeing this movie on the big screen when my local theater was hosting classic movies.
I'd already seen it before, but it is nothing short of absolutely breathtaking in an actual movie theater. I greatly envy the people who see ghibli films when they first came out
Even in 2020 this is still one of my favorite Anime movies ever.
This probably became my favorite anime movie
I found it, i finally found it.
It took me 6 years trying to remember what this movie was about but i finally found it.
Thank you, whoever you are for posting this trailer ❤
This is my favorite studio Ghibli
The trailer can't even express what a masterpiece this movie was.
Honestly, none of the Studio Ghibli movies even need a trailer
Just "made by Studio Ghibli" is enough because everyone knows, it is going to be mindblowing
up until hayao miyazaki retired
or everyone know its going to be a great film (except for that earwig witch because it was 3d that I wish would be forgotten)
Unless it is the 3d one
Professor recommended us to watch it to better understand the philosophy of gentleness
This is my favorite Studio Ghibli movie, and Ponyo. For the aesthetics of this film, Miyazaki was inspired by the art of Jean Giraud Moebius, one of my favorite artists.
Out of all the movies this is my favorite! It just touches my heart and never fails to make me cry ❤️
This is one of my favorite movies. Nausicaä is an inspiring character.
One of the best cartoon movie ever, I hope they can create more movies like this studio Ghibli!!
I absolutely love this movie. It's my favorite. Highly underrated Ghibli film.
Truly beautiful, epic, nostalgic and wonderful movie
Hayao Miyazaki is a great master! Works such as his anime can only be seen him. He and his anime are a treasure of generati
ons!
Me gustan todas las películas de Ghibli, pero está en especial me hizo reflexionar tanto del mundo, la vida y los humanos.
Es mi película favorita 💕.
I watched this movie probably in the mid 80s with my dad. I wanted to find it to show my son what it was, and it was the 2nd one that came up in my vague search for it. Who knew it had so many fans today! Thanks very much!
Do you watch the warriors of the wind dub.
I remember looking at this at a local family-owned VHS rental store in the early '90s and decided to check it out. This was the first of Miyazaki's films I saw and had no idea who he was. As years went by I have seen his other creations and became a fan.
I saw this on video 35 years ago at age 4 and one of my intros to anime
Ive been meaning to watch this for 20 years it feels, finally did and it was great.
My favourite movie of all time together with castle in the sky. The track "the legend of the wind" makes the other ghibli movies almost pale in comparison what an icon.
I really look up to Nausicaä. She is such a QUEEN!!
if you love Miyazaki’s work I recommend these movies to watch, castle in the sky, up on poppy hill, when the wind rises, whisper of the heart, grave of the fireflies, arrietty, ocean waves, porco rosso, when marine was there, the cat returns, ponyo,Totoro, spirited away, and many others!
Why I love Nausicaa as a character -
1. She represents the best of humanity but not in a dumb way like many movies do
2. She knows her limits and isn't flawless
3. She isn't full nonviolent. She knows when to resort to that
Pretty wholesome character ngl
This film is the best animated film i've ever seen in my life since Disney's Fantasia 2000.
Where to begin?
The Action...
The Peril...
The Voices...
My God!
As stupid as this sounds, this film should've won an Oscar… if Animated Films could’ve won Oscars in 1984…
Can't believe this movie is as old as me. Brings back the good ol' days.
The film that built Studio Ghibli.
I watched this anime movie in my history class.
What was the reaction of everyone in class?
And why picking this movie?
Idk. I can tell my classmates never watched animes. Only Asians on my class did.
+Arzoid HD So you imply those non asiatic mates disliked it? It's not a matter of having watched animes before, it's a matter of watching art with eyes unclouded by prejudice, in case there were mates who disliked it.
Antonio Augusto Its true mostly asians would already know and love it because its from asia after all. :)
wow that's great
I just watched this film for the first time, it’s an amazing piece of art
40th anniversary of Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind🥳🥳🥳🥳
Dude this movie's everything ( animation, theme, plot, drive etc) is just insane even now when I watch a disney movie and this, its spectacular to realize how a 37 yr old film( 1984 ) is better than a 20th century big budget movie.
facts
The most perfect movie, ever
I has been worshipping Nausicaa since I saw it. No special power and bring peace by sacrificing herself. Love her too much.
Still my hero
This film is a perfect example of a good "strong female character", not a "bad*ss" b*tch who treats men like something inferior, but a good hearted, kind, responsible, sensible woman who is able to sacrifice and let herself bend over others to achieve a greater cause.
I hope Hollywood, and americans would learn something from movies like this.
The Smiley One yes this we need more of this not this better than you based on gender but on HOW YOU ACT
Yeah fuck Disney and their horribly made characters for brainless people
Wow, this movie is 40 years old.
Disney who?

It's not from Disney

It is a disney production movie..
@@natacham4171 no they just publish it and do the english dub, the easy part
Nausicaa is the best Ghibli girl for me!!!❤️❤️❤️
0:21 I love this moment with the music, it's wonderful
Finally got to rewatch this since it was added to netflix.
Fucking amazing.
It was one of those vague "loose-thread" childhood memories that stick in the back of your head.
I was basically stumbling in the dark until I saw the trailer on netflix, as I didn't remember the name.
Finding it was very satisfying.
GG childhood.
They should make a live action version of this, it shouldn't be exactly the same, but similar. It has an awesome world, and some great ideas and characters.
nah let it stay as animation and preserve it. No remake or live action (sure it would be cool if that happens but for me the animation is incomparable for it to be live
action)

This is "¿Quién Es La Máscara?" Mexico Season 4 Co-Champion Pineapple AKA

The ending of this movie is some of the best and most powerful scenes in the entire history of all ANIMATED FILMS
Happy to say this is my first Miyazaki film, and i loved it
The trailer's summary is quite inaccurate - "harness the power of the Ohmus" and "spectacular romance"? None of that was in the film. Still much better than the Warriors of the Wind cover though.
The word "roman"(not romance) has a different meaning in Japanese.
It's more like "something that captures your feelings."
Funnily enough, even in English it's a fairly appropriate use of the term. Dictionary definition includes: "a quality of mystery, excitement, and remoteness from everyday life" and "a medieval tale dealing with a hero of chivalry, of the kind common in Romance languages." This describes Nausicaa-- and much of Miyazaki's work-- quite well. The trailer itself is not exactly faithful to the movie in general, I would agree.
“She is zandra “ when I heard that I died inside :”(
It might be in the manga
A film dated 90s doesn't stop me from watching it. There are actually so much good films/animations in the 90s that are way better than movies today.
Yeezy taught me
First Ghibli film in history!
Love those 1980s music.
On March 11 1984 Nausicaä Of The Valley Of The Wind was released in Japanese theaters and made $14.3 million on a budget of 180 million yen in the budget of $758,000 in US Dollars the film did help the creation of Studio Ghibli and it's themes of environmental and anti-war this movie hold up when it was released back in 1984.
Tomorrow is going to be the film's 40th anniversary
Happy 40th anniversary to Nausicaä.
Great film
I saw this movie just yesterday and I was seriously amazed 😃😃. Miyazaki definitely has amazing movies
I remember when the english dub came out and i told my stepdad about the movie. He then proceeded to bust the entire nausicaa manga collection from his old things. Still have them.
I watched this movie when I was 6 year old and it was my favorite..... After I became adult I tried to find this movie. Now I have finally found it😭😭 I am so happy!!!!
Im interested in this movie.. Is It for adults?
Just saw this film for the first time today and wow... i need more ghibli films
Imagine an RPG in universe of Nausica. That would be awesome!!!
In case you're thinking that you've heard this song before but in English; the song is "It's a memory" By Fred Faulke. Finding that out was the most relieving thing I've done all year.

This movie is nearly 40 years old by next year
Let's hope that next year they announce the continuation of this movie, adapting the remaining volumes of the manga.
Watched the movie and read the manga.Loved it so much❤
I was only 6 years old when my brother and I saw this movie; and it was a bastardized version. Finally, after 32 years I came across the full movie. I know it was re-dubbed in 2015. This movie is amazing! Hayao Miyazaki is my hero!
I saw it 33 years ago when i was 4 in it's bastardnized version and dug it but i didn't know it was a butchered version until i read in starlog in the late 80s but it had to due until 2004 when it got uncut
Best beautiful animation
For anyone that have seen Star Wars: The Force Awakens, you may notice that there are quite some similarities between the opening scenes of Nausicaa and Force Awakens. Especially between Rey and Nausicaa. So thank you J. J. Abrams for that!
Coool
Why is this amazing song not in the movie?
I need song name....
In the 80s, it became very fashionable to include light, breezy pop songs in anime films, regardless of the film's story or theme. To his credit, Miyazaki probably would not have been interested in this trend at all. Including it in the trailer for marketing seems a perfect compromise, as I agree it is a catchy tune.

I saw this in eighth grade back in early March of 2015. We had movie days every single Friday. There was a choice between this and My Neighbor Totoro both Ghibli movies to get the most votes. End up watching Nausicaa instead. And immediately I was instantly blown away by it.
Ghibli movies and music are the best
I remember Nausicaa of the valley of the wind it was a really good anime movie made by Miyazaki Hayao
I swear we need to hack like the Times Square building screens and put this movie on, it’s so painfully underrated
Great idea!
