Thich Nhat Hanh, the revered Vietnamese Zen Buddhist monk, died on January 22, 2022, at the age of 95. A memorial ceremony was held at the Tu Hieu Pagoda in Vietnam the next day to pay tribute to the late monk. Born in 1926 in the Vietnamese city of Hue, Nhat Hanh was ordained at the age of 16. He introduced “mindfulness” and Zen Buddhism to the West and advocated for world peace through his anti-war activism. Nhat Hanh lived in exile in southern France for almost 40 years after he was banished for denouncing the Vietnam war. He returned to his home country in late 2018.

His books have literally changed my life and my entire being for the better. He believed that there is no death, only transition. Like a cloud that turns into rain and evaporates back into a cloud. This man was a real life Buddha. If you haven’t heard of him I highly recommend looking into his teachings if you have an interest in Buddhism or simply improving your mental/ emotional health.
He didn't believe , he passed on the teachings of Gauthama Buddha
Which book would you recommend?
I was about to order some of his books, shocked to hear this news so suddenly
Have you seen Buddha?
Jmm
“Breathing in, I calm body and mind. Breathing out, I smile. Dwelling in the present moment I know this is the only moment.”
His teachings have blessed and enlightened many going through hardship. Sad to see this is the last farewell. Rest in peace 🙏
Hello,
Can you recommend me a video of him preaching?
I wanna show it to my mum.
Cheers

Rest in peace? Don't Buddhist believe in Reincarnation?
@@lynnmichael857 It's just a nice thing to say.
@@lynnmichael857 reincarnation is for those who are unenlightened. Supposing he is enlightened and has achieved moshka, then he will be "resting in peace"
@@GameFuMaster Yes, that's what I said. No one would know
Even when Thay is not talking, you feel peace just in his presence. He heals the world by his being, not just his words.

I did 3 years upstate. My cousin sent me 2 of his books “The heart of the Buddha’s teachings” and Fear”. I love this man and his teachings. If it weren’t for him. I wouldn’t have learned mindfulness and the values of a compassionate human being. I most likely would’ve killed myself from ill mental health while incarcerated. All praise to the most high and may he rest in the land of bliss forever. I pray that he have achieved nirvana in this lifetime and transcended beyond the materialization of this world.

He’s the man that shares his blessing to the world. Rest In Peace Thich Nhat Hanh.
Don't know who he is but by how much he was loved he was definitely a very well respected monk. May he rest in peace and prayers to those who are mourning
in piece? dont you mean peace?
@@xxbeastxxakathebeast2095 probably auto correct xD
he is so famous and everyone knows him as the second Mahatma Gandhi

This really hits me hard. I’m an avid viewer of Reverend Hanh, listening to his teachings of mindfulness and restraint. You can tell he didn’t feel any suffering as he left, he simply slowly drifted away from this transitory world towards one that can only be experienced with awakened minds.
Hello,
Can you recommend me a video of him preaching?
I wanna show it to my mum.
Cheers

His name is Thích Nhất Hạnh. Buddhist name is Nhất Hạnh. Calling Hạnh only is rude and nonsense.
RIP to another legend our time, in spreading peace mentally and physically to the world.
Ive been reading his books since i was 16 and they have helped so much. Im 24 now and i still remember his own words as my own to live by. Rest in peace
His books led me to Buddhism and to having so much inner peace after so much struggle and suffering
My heart is heavy and goes out to all those who loved him
Thank you for your teachings, they healed my heart 🙏🏼
Huge respect to a person who's an advocate of peace and compassion. May he rest in peace
I start crying every time I see another video about him, even tho I know his soul is in the Loving Arms of Grace and He will be filled with Joy and Always with us.
- Blessings to All Vietnamese people and Families for the Beloved Master Thich Nhat Hanh -Thay.
For whatever reason I found myself on a big beautiful house for 6 months last year. In April 2021 someone introduced me to Thay and I began to follow his teachings in the morning and the evening. He brought me great consolation and peace. He was my go to person. Despite all that I have read about him still remaining with us in a transcended form I will miss him knowing that he was human like me
*My sincere condolences to master Hanh. A true global peace icon, who taught the world peace & non-war activism including the west.*
From India 🇮🇳
His guided meditation really helped me through trying times. So did his talks that were available on RUclips. May he Rest In Peace.
Thank you Thay, for teaching me to enjoy each moment, even a breath. 🙏🏻 Our world needs peace, mental health, and compassion. Healing is possible in every moment.
His legacy lives on and goes on. Just a couple of months ago, I began to read more about mindfulness and came across his talks. Wonderful experience!
An extraordinary life well lived! Thanks and rejoiceful for your irreplaceable contributions to bring peace, love, compassion and mindfulness of present moments to the world.
I'm in the midst of trying to learn mindfulness, and to know that is this person who made it widely known and is the one who probably allowed me to discover it, I give my greatest respects to Hanh.
Master Thay, I didn't get the pleasure. To which I'm sure is a great lose for me. Zen and mindfulness is the visitor that I need to knock and never leave. Your Peace Beyond Measure has been achieved. Maybe we will meet someday 🌺
Best wishes to the some of kindest people on Earth. RIP. My time is coming.... Enjoy Life while you can
I respect him as a great teacher. Love him and all his disciples from Laos..
Ultimately free from earthly bondages and achieve eternal peacefulness and supreme enlightenment!
Rest in Peace Thay 🙏 You were loved by many and your impact will live forever on. I hope you have found eternal peace. ❤
Blessings from sri lanka.may he attain nibbana.
Rev. Thich Nhat Hanh's teachings : No birth, no death, no immotality and no annihiliation will always be remembered.
I'm just now starting to read his books and listen to his talks. I wish I had started sooner when he was still alive. RIP master, thank you for everything you do. Your words live on forever.
Thank you for all the work you did and rest in peace.
This is so sad. I read some of his books. I know he is at Peace.🙏🏼
He was a humble loving human being.
I literally cried. RIP. I remember seeing him on Opera tv show where he talked about meeting up and befreind with MLK.
"Our true home is in this present moment.
To live in the present moment is a miracle.
The miracle is not to walk on water.
The miracle is to walk on the green Mother Earth in the present moment,
to appreciate the peace and beauty that are available now.
Peach is all around us--
in the world and in nature--
and within us--
in our bodies and our spirits."
~ Thich Nhat Hanh ~
I don’t know who this man was, but I’m half Vietnamese….my father is full Vietnamese and fought for the south long ago….I’ll be sure to show him this!
Maybe Your dad might not like him... this great monk is being judged for decades (even after his death... he still judged by many people, especially people whom lost their land to the north communist... ...) ... because he proved his theory... he wanted to stop the Vietnam war (while many soldiers from the south) fought for that and fell down... i feel unfair for this monk... he just love peace and wanted to spread it out...
May i recommend a book called Old Path White Clouds?
He has inspired me & many people to help find and spread love and peace. Read any of his books.

Farewell, beloved teacher. Thank you for your love, your light and your wisdom. Love and peace.....
I read his book this year at the beginning of Jan. The miracle of mindfulness. It was lovely
His book on miracle of mindfulness is impactful and full of wisdom, i respect him alot, he is a great man indeed.. Please can you recommend me to more of his books, thanks!
May the man rest in peace, he was a great age!
I'm at least glad he got to see his home country one last time before he died.
He isn’t gone he’s just with Buddha. I’m sure his spirit will continue to live on
I thought buddism monks when they die, people will build a tower, and his spirit will be kept in the tower.
How can he be with Buddha if buddha doesn't exist now ? Buddha got nirvana but this monk haven't got nirvana yet , pray that he get nirvana soon
@@logangreen759 he is zen monk. Which is buddism prominent in Korea, Japan, China and Vietnam.
@@logangreen759 zen monks are never about Buddha, but meditation. They are know as sitting monks literal translation.
A tower will be build on the location where they die and their spirit(Sarira) will continue to meditates in the towers.
@@logangreen759 there is no after life for monk, to became a monk one essentially give up their Sarira to the future humanity.
This is what the wratern countries needed .Meditation ,calmness And peace. Thanks to your great contribution.Rest in peace and our deepest condolences m

I remember reading the heart of buddhas teaching, very wise individual. May he Rest In Peace.

I remember seeing my mom watch the funeral on the tv. May he Rest In Peace
Thank you, South China Morning Post, for allowing me and others around the world to voice our freedom of speech. I am a new Buddhist and have my own personal religious beliefs. I was born and lives in the United States and love my Vietnamese, Japanese and Chinese etc... friends. Thick Nhat Hanh taught me a story of his first disciple, Brother Nhat Tri, during the Vietnam War. The lesion learned was that Buddhists should not take sides. That is that only through understanding and meditation that we stop suffering and understand each other. I wish politicians and diplomats would take his advice. I am praying for both Thick Nhat Hahn and Brother Nhat Tri that suffered and as Buddhist say did not die during the Vietnam war. The story is in "The Heart of the Buddha's Teaching 2015" Chapter 25. People in different countries are not so different. Please try to understand. Gassho, TL
May his soul permeate through all life to experience peace and tranquility
