- The Constitutional Court hands down its judgment on the IEC's appeal against the Electoral court order on former President Jacob Zuma's candidacy.
The apex court heard arguments earlier this month on the correct interpretation of Section 47(1)(E) of the Constitution - which governs who qualifies for membership of the National Assembly.

I think this must not be ignored that the justice system was violeted when former president Jacob Zuma was not taken in prison having followed the correct procedure of the law( which is going trial and appear in Court to exercise his rights but no the brutality and intimidation was applied again in so called Democracy)

Mpofu has consistently attempted to manipulate the courts to bend the application of the law regarding Zuma's appeals. He persistently abuses court processes, asserting that Zuma's eligibility to stand should be based on the sentence served rather than the sentence imposed. While some may feel aggrieved by this outcome, the majority will likely welcome the clear determination that Zuma is not eligible to stand for election.
It was going to be tough for concourt to overturned thier previous ruling. So anyone who thought of different out come it was just a dream.
No surprises, we all knew the outcome to this before hand considering the history of this matter. So no surprises, but on the bright side of things I'm glad that Zuma will not lose his presidential benefits as a former head of state. MK also a winner because Zuma is on the ballot paper.

That was expected, but still the question of separation of powers,is important, it's not for the constitutional court and IEC to decide that,i suspect Zuma knew that and his legal team that he is not going to parliament only because the sentence is of emotions and they have to protect their image in the concourt.
We now have precedents and case laws justifying for an overreach of power from *TWO* chapter 9 institution and the judiciary. They've literally stripped the executive of it's powers and privileges, one such power is to pardon, to remitt or parole as prescribed.
The judiciary has an unprecedented amount of power now, esp the ConCourt.
Constitutional court is there to resolve disputes which escalated from other courts that's why it's the highest court in the land ,yes they can't initially decide on issues but only on escalated issues

I could have (and did) tell everyone that this will be the outcome. It's the law - Its the constitution that we are so proud of. So don't get angry if it's against your own illegal corrupt actions. Because the law prescribes the Consitutional Court as the court of final determination. A lower court (Electoral Court) can't overrule the ruling of a superior court (Constitutional Court). Thembeka Nqcukaitobi shows Dali Mpofu flames again.

The decision of the EC was unnecessary... How could seasoned judges reason that a remission reduces or overrides a court sentence while remission is simply a release of a convict from the incarceration after a certain period of time?
