Third loss of year for Mac on a very slow clay. Hard to play for him. Tie was famous for problems in US team. No conversation between Ashe, Connors and McEnroe. How to build a team in that case ? Connors never played Davis Cup again, McEnroe came back only in 87, Ashe left in 85. Meanwhile the Swedish were totally united.
