I just did this to my own GTi this evening over here. I would definitely have had a lot of issues if not for watching this video and a few others but it seems that brute force is the only way to do it even though it feels so wrong lol. My leds were only barely lighting up and the car failed a safety check before Christmas because of it. I got a smoked black one on eBay which blends in well with my black car as an added bonus. Cheers for the video man 👍
Thanks for the video. I also have bought a new third brake light from China. They say it is LED so I'm assuming it is brighter and faster than the original. Can you confirm? Otherwise my factory one is working fine and I will not bother replacing it. Thanks
I'll be doing this very soon. ECS had a nice light for about $70, not as cheap as your light overnight from China, but hey. EDIT: Have you had any problems with it since? Idk how well it seals back up after you put the new light in.
@@f1memes342 Yep! The midwest. Btw, installed the light, it's been working great! Though I was slightly worried since I could not get the screws back in, the retaining clip seems to be all the thing needs to stay in just fine. I also found that the reason my last light failed is because of water damage. There was a lot of water in there, I think it's because our spoilers collect water between the spoiler plastic and the top of the roof...
se cambia asy como el video pero tiene que haber otra manera creo que soltando el plastico del la parte interior del maletero asy se pude soltar los dos tornillos del interior de la luz central

Weird how VW thought this was the best way to replace this light. Good job though, thanks for clearing this up for us all 🙏💯
Yes only way to do it
Its not the only way...you can open fifth door, take the plastic trim off and then take brake light without braking it.
I didn’t know that
It looks same as on mine passat b6 variant r-line 2010, what do you think mate ?
Cheap made
