Thank you for explaining this the way you did. I told three doctors and two physical therapists that I have pain when standing up after being bent over for a short period of time, and facet syndrome was never mentioned. Months of PT did absolutely nothing. I finally requested an x-ray and it revealed degenerative facet arthrosis. These positions have been SO helpful in relieving pain after working on the yard all day. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!
Hi is degenerative facet arthrosis same as Facet Joint disease that's what showed up on mri I have two of them plus 3 herniated discs im not living life at age 29 😢
Thanks, I’m scheduled for 3 injections into my facets (lumbar/sac). Dr suspects some liquid buildup in the lower facet joints. These exercises make sense and I will begin regimen. PS: I’m 82, 6’1”, 190. Pretty much fitness guy most of my life. Within last 2- years, back, glute, back of leg accuse pain causing lassitude.
Thank you for these. I downloaded the PDF and subscribed! I needed some basic safe exercises to relieve my minor lower back pain. Too much time in front of a computer has created a few issues with my posture that I continue to work on. Thanks again!
Hi all, I had a medial brach chain nerve block procedure around 4 months ago. It's worked well to be fair, just wondering if there are any specific exercises, physio I could be doing to assist it? I can't seem to find anything specific to the procedure anywhere. Thanks

I'm the same age and I've had it for about 3 years. I finally got a new doctor who finally did an xray and prescribed a new med. He gave me meloxicam which has help with the pain. It doesn't totally get rid if it when I over do things like lifting or bending, but it make it bearable. Maybe Meloxicam could help you! I hope you find some relief!
Two weeks ago I injured myself at the gym. I went in the ER for intense pain & numbness, right superior sacrum to Pevic crest and a narrow band inferiorally. ER diagnosis was "sprain". I followed up with a Orthopedic visit. An MRI Pevis (att'n: sacroiliac joint- R/O avulsion) was ordered & showed severe lumbar facet arthrosis R>L. O.A. is not surprising since I've had 2 hips replacement due to O.A. I discovered flexation of my spine eased the deep pain and the exercises in this video do indeed help. But I'm still with skin numbness & pain. With some research & a background as a Radiographer, I suspect some nerve involvement (superior gluteal or cluneal)? Skin hurts to the touch & "burns". It really hurts. I'm still not sure how to proceed.
Much better, thank you. I saw a Physiatrist & was much improved after 3 months of regular Physical Therapy. I still regularly perform multiple stretching exercises & I am still weight training but avoiding certain non-supported exercises/movement. Numbness is gone & pain dramatically diminished. I'm still stiff in the AM & moderately hunched over until I loosen up. I will be 67 soon & pleased with where I am considering the severe O.A. affecting many joints. I'm going to have to say the cause was facet arthrosis & possible piriformis syndrome. - I wish you well and hope you find a method(s) to give you relief.
i think my issue is facet joints. Every morning i cannot stand straight up, it is suuuuuper sore and stiff. And it's just cronicly painful. I can also sometimes pull my leg down to pull my pelvis down, and hear/feel a huge pop which feels amazing. But when i let go it goes back to feeling compressed/pinched. Bending backwards kills, forwards brings relief. My issue is when i try to do core exercises, it kills lots of the time. The transverse core muscle that goes around the waist like a belt, as it tightens triggers pain. So getting the core to stabilize is almost impossible. I am stuck in an infinite loop of suck
yes this is me too. and pain in sides of torso muscles and hips and hip flexors. do you have anterior pelvic tilt as well? It aggravates and actually I think might cause my facet joint issues. is your pain worse after standing/walking? as far as core exercises, most hurt my lower back. I do planks, stomach vacuums, glute bridges with tight core, and the one where you're on your knees and you put one leg straight out behind you and the opposite arm straight out in front of you and hold.
I have multi-level moderate degenerative facet arthropathy as well as a tiny disc protrusion at the L5-SI level without significant nerve root impingement. Wouldn't back bending be good for me?
@@Jacob-hl3gt 39 and trying to figure it out. Been dealing with pain in the leg for about 10 months now. Been trying all kinds of stretches and exercises as of late. Have an appointment with a neurosurgeon soon. Don’t want to have surgery if I don’t have to
@@elusiveminds have you heard of IMs? I was doing that for my low back and it was the only thing I found to help. Chiropractor couldn't adjust me because I would just tighten up too much.
@@elusiveminds sorry to hear about the possibility of surgery. I've heard that should be the last resort. You sound too young for that. Mine has never healed in 16 years mand most will never heal completely. If you have chronic pain it likely will only get worse with age anyways. Mine started at age 21. I am 37 now. Yes, I'm 33 have degenerative facet joint disease and arthritis. I get flare ups when it's so bad I can't do anything. Physio I find generally doesn't help much, but I saw a very very good sports massagest and he was great. If you sit a lot like me Psoas stretches are great. A keto diet is also beneficial, it reduces body inflammation, which is essentially your, and my, problem, inflammation between your joints. For me currently I also exercise, not exercising I find it does get worse, but depending on what I do it can actually aggravate it more than help.
@@cornishreptiles In the same boat as you (similar age range too) and have a few questions for you: 1. Can you give some tips on what to look for regarding a proper sports massagist? 2. Which psoas stretches do you do? 3. Also, can you expand on what exercises you do that are beneficial and which ones to avoid? By the way, the keto diet seems like a good call (was going to go with the Mediterranean) but if you've had success with keto, I might try it out too.
