I think moving to Madrid was a mistake. At a club in the Bundesliga, French League or at a club like Ajax he would have time to develop while being under less pressure and getting more playing time. That's what Haaland and Bellingham did and they were uncontested starting players when they moved to City and Madrid.
As someone who is mixed Turkish and German, and who grew up in Germany and inherited the German's crazy love for football, I'd love to see Turkey become a nation consistenly good at football one day, like other big football nations. Turkey has a population that's big and talented enough, if only their love for football can be sparked in more young people. As such, players like Arda Güler and Turkey's recent good performance in the EURO makes me happy.
