Fantastic concert. SentimentaI. Looking back and wondering if any of them actually realized how great this production was going to be. Peter Gabriel is around 43 years old in this concert. Paula Cole is (only) around 24 to 25 years old.
As a 42 year old man I can say, without any hubris, that I've seen some amazing live concerts. U2, Eric Clapton, Oasis, STP, David Gilmour, Roger Waters, Aerosmith, Sting, Rage, Pearl Jam, NIN Coldplay, Radiohead, Black Crows, Beck, I'm sure I'm missing some shows. I've also seen hundreds of live shows on RUclips. I think this Peter Gabriel concert is the best I've ever seen. Watching Peter execute his vision almost makes me cry. To think that one man has ideas like this in his head is a true blessing from God.
About this remastering: JCA, the London-based digital specialist, has announced that it has remastered Peter Gabriel: Secret World Live in HD for Eagle Rock Entertainment, the producer and distributor of music programing for DVD, Blu-Ray, TV and digital media, and Real World. York Tillyer, director of visual media at Peter Gabriel’s Real World, commented: “We wanted to bring Secret World Live up to the highest visual standards. Working with JCA enabled us to rebuild the film from the analogue source, not just significantly enhancing the image quality but revealing the full frame of the super 16 negative to best display the scope of this cinematic production.” Matt Bowman, commercial director at JCA, added: “The number of digital restoration commissions we are seeing is increasing sharply, with content owners keen to bring their libraries digitally up-to-date, maximising the assets they already possess. Classic footage, such as Peter Gabriel: Secret World Live, can be remastered for digital distribution and consumption in true High Definition. Improvements in film scanning and digital restoration techniques have effectively unlocked the commercial route to market, making vast amounts of film ideal for servicing and just waiting to be exploited by content owners and enjoyed by viewers.” Real World delivered the original 16mm negatives, which were shot across 12 cameras and two concerts. Using these, JCA created offline copies to conform the programme. Then an edit decision list (EDL) was created in Final Cut Pro (FCP). Next, a super 2k scan was performed on the required shots. The content was then restored and given grain treatments to sharpen the image. Once restored, our award-winning colourist, Ray King, graded the data (DPX) file sequence in line with Eagle Rock Entertainment and Real World’s specifications. I am so jealous!! Last time I saw him was back in 05 or 06 in Houston. It was an unbelievable performance! At one point he actually rolled out on the stage in a giant clear plastic hamster ball 😱 it was amazing! Later it started pouring down raining with lightning and thunder, nobody cared!! This man always has been and always will be a musical genius!! ❤ Him!!

Young people ask if the music of the 80s and 90s still holds up today.. This concert is proof positive, the talent leave you with unforgettable memories.
Watching Paula and Peter sing toward each other is like watching a play. Are they singing to each other? Are they "talking" past each other? Could they be two people in different places calling out to each other? Are the two players each hoping the other will reach out first to reconcile? For me, it's beautiful and heartbreakingly poignant.
I just found out this was Paula Cole’s big break, stepping in on short notice to replace Sinnead O’Connor. I grew up in the 90’s and missed Peter Gabriel but was there for Paula Cole. Really cool to see this and can’t imagine what she was feeling flying out to Germany for this.
I could watch this concert from now until the sun burns out. The energy and stage presence of everyone, especially Paula Cole is magnificent...of course Peter Gabriel is no slouch on stage either. I especially love the vibe when they do "In Your Eyes". They genuinely appear to be enjoying themselves....
I have seen this video multiple times. What I see is passion. I was born on the 70's, a child of the 80's and consider myself a lover of most music. This...this. is exceptional.
The crazy thing about this concert video is that the audio was taken from a different night. It took me years and years to realize. They're so locked in and have this so perfected that you barely notice.
Truly outstanding performance! And this is the only true copy. All the other ones I've seen on here tend to play the songs in a different. Because this is a perfect copy, you get to see how he starts in the phone booth, and every song the stage opens up a little more Peter Gabriel, legend!
The old are still the best.. I've seen Peter Gabriel live four or five times and was able to experience a singer who could blow away an entire hall with his voice alone. Amazing music of a genius singer songwriter and bandleader ! Apart from that, you have to take a look at his incredible band. Tony Levin has played in bands such as King Crimson and YES. Manu Katche is undoubtedly one of the best jazz drummers in the world. Steward Copeland founded "The Police". Is there more to be said ? All Progressive Rock at its best ❗

I won tickets off the radio station for this tour. I was a casual fan so my wife and I went to Arco Arena a few miles from our house to check it out. This show blew us away. All around one of the most professional, entertaining shows I have ever seen.

The way he doesn't just hog the whole stage and allowing the little people and the Old Guy to share the stge with him. We are all the richer for his largesse. Kidding aside, the then 50+ Mr. Levin does sing and dance throughout. =)
Seen Peter a few times in Toronto - Breathtaking for sure...Unable to pigeonhole him into any genre, Prog, Rock... he's his own invention, the genre of Peter Gabriel.. Nuff said. (other than just imagine what Genesis may have become if both Peter and Steve had stayed, or recombined... another conversation surrounding 5 musical masters)
I saw this show on July 7, 1993 in Philadelphia. 9th anniversary. What a treat!! Peter Gabriel is raw, polished, naked, emotional musical genius. Thank God for music that moves the soul 🎉❤
