Pretty bullshit rule tbh. In 99 at least. Skyway is specifically supposed to be a come back mechanic to give a second chance to those that fell behind. The rank out mechanic is way obsolete with that mindset, you give racers a reason to keep racing and hope for a high place despite a bad start, but then you leave in a mechanic that kicks them out of the whole race/gp over a bad start? Pretty counter productive.
@@AshkarBehek0 it's not always a bad start, it could be because everyone who was behind passes you in Skyway and you get Ranked Out. The rule was BS on the SNES 32 years ago, but the point is that you need to be fast in order to be around, and you don't get the joy of being overlapped in races.
It would be a really missed oppotunity if they don't add Ace Cup/League from BS Grand Prix 2. The five tracks from that league are: Mute City IV, Big Blue II, Sand Storm, Silence II and Sand Storm II.
I love the love this game is getting and I'm almost allowing myself to hope it'll lead to a new standalone F-Zero game launching with whatever Switch 2 ends up being actually called. That being said, I am going to hear the little "spin attack not ready yet" noise in my sleep tonight.
I have to hand it to Ryu. Despite all odds against a lot of higher level players, he still manages to be victorious! Fire Field looks pretty awesome in this game! I wonder what more Nintendo will do with F-Zero 99 now (if anything)?
There's supposedly some remixed courses coming. Someone found a file in the 1.1.0 update that has an overhead view of a course named "Death Wind 1 Remix".
@Sherf... I'd love that too, but I don't know how likely that is. Before the 1.1.0 update, there was supposedly placeholder data for a course named "Forest" (the same name as the series of Forest courses from the lost batch of Sattelaview courses). It has been removed in the 1.1.0 update, however.

Excellent work on this. Am glad to see F-Zero 99 content return. It's just as stressful as I remember. I don't think the rank out system changed. Pretty sure we ranked out if we took too long to catch up from the get-go. I could be misremembering, but I don't recall seeing an update for that. Was just the first time it happened to you in that way.

Guess he never wondered why the game kept warning him that the bottom was about to rank out throughout the race and then the number magically getting lower the next race. Or wondered why there were always only 20 left for the final race of a grand prix (or maybe he for some reason thought always exactly 79 players kill themselves by the time the final race starts).
Honestly, I think ranking out is much worse than crashing out. The former is basically the game telling you that (Sonic voice) "You're too SloOoOoOow!"
Love the F-Zero videos! I like the Classic mode and that they’re updating the game too keep it interesting❤ some new tracks and perhaps 2 more cars would be sick tho (White Cat & Black Bull would be the obvious probably but maybe Little Wyvern could be a cool Starfox reference or someone more obscure from F-Zero X potentially). Also A F-Zero X remake or a version like this game would be the dream for me!
36:05 Actually, the skyway is programmed to never drop you into a pit. If your skyway runs out while you're over a pit, it won't drop you until you're on safe ground again. So it's actually optimal to time your skyway so it runs out over a pit, because then you get extra skyway time.

Grand Prix deathwind is where it's the biggest danger. Everybody who makes it that far is pretty good and the map is easy so hanging back for skyway is dangerous. One missed boost pad or people passing you on skyway when you think you're safe can end it all.

I've been playing this game for about 1.5 months now and I am skill rank S17 but I'm honestly so tired of the blatant cheating from the bot cpus. You can easily tell that they are a bot if they have the default color for that vehicle and their player card has the default blank background, usually with little or no badges. Furthermore, maybe you have noticed this as well, that the bots are on a 'timer' for lack of better words, to complete the course in a given amount of time. Because of this, oftentimes when I bump a bot, even if I full speed grind them into a wall with a spin attack, 9 times out of 10 they will lag teleport around then appear on my opposite side then lag teleport ahead of me. The reason I know they are bots is if you look closely at the muffler of the vehicle whenever they do this, THEY DON'T EVEN USE A BOOST. Even when I am using the Fire Stingray (best top speed) and I'm at full speed and I bump into a Blue Falcon bot, they somehow race ahead of me and by that point I can't afford to boost because of stingray's poor recovery and durability then they cheat me out of a win. At my level of S17 skill, there are very very few players in an average game that are on my level so the rivals are 3/4 bots most of the time. I know this because it will be the same player's name of a real player that follows me to every gamemode I select. I enter a Grandprix? They are there and beat me by 2 seconds. I then go to team battle? They are there on the enemy team and beat me. I enter F-Zero 99 mode? They are there and beat me. I've played random different modes back to back to back with 0 time in between matches outside of loading and have the same 'players' follow me for up to 10 races in a row. It's not a coincidence and it makes me want to quit this shit game.
When are you going to finally retire mario maker and start being a real gamer. I guess mario maker people are so popular they have taken the internet hostage cuz that game is complete dog crap yet my favorite creators are slaves to the game
Real gamers actually get paid for playing games and they don't need to prove anything to anyone. And it's not like Ryu only plays SSM he can play whatever he wants outside of RUclips. You need to understand what is a job though.

As an S20 player, that first King League attempt was inspirational. You even got a fantastic use of the skyway in Fire Field! Congrats!
