Speedrunning Super Mario Bros 3 on NES. This is the warpless category. I used to run this like 6 or 7 years ago so I have a bit of experience with the run. My goal is to at least beat my old PB of 53m55s.

ETA: Holy crap, I didn't know there was more than one Hammer Bros suit in the game! I thought I had played this inside and out as a kid, but to think I missed stuff. That's so wild.
For me this is the best Super Mario game ever.

The past around 42:00 is why I couldn't speedrun, I'd be getting so tilted that I'd keep screwing up then have to restart. :P
Just beat this game for the first time ever yesterday
Crazy how difficult the stage design is in sm3 compared to the first two and super Mario world. And yet the boss fights in sm3 are somehow just ridiculously easy

I played SMB3 when I was a kid but I genuinely don't remember that the music would skip notes, or sounds, when doing other things. I assume it's related to the audio channels and the hardware and so on. But my memory of the game in my brain depicts everything working in unison without any issues. Then again I haven't played SMB3 in possibly over 20 years at this point. It was an amazing game back then, still would be today I'm sure.
So the reason it cuts out the music when playing sound effects is because the nes only had 4 sound channels so sometimes when more than 4 sound files are trying to play at once it’ll cut out some others. So yes it does have to do with the sound channels :3

Such an amazing game I forget, sometimes said it was still on the OG NES. It me too almost seems like a super Nintendo game

How much do you practice? I imagine you just watch a run and you’re a master.
I remember that fateful day when me mum came home from work carrying a very large bag... inside was the bundled SMB3 NES and my brother and I were jumping about like puppies and I was actually 16 and every waking moment was spent for many months on the SMB cartridges, one SMB1 we ran round it many times to see how much harder each time got then later the SNES came out with the holy SMW and the later All-Stars which was to date just about the best cartridge Nintendo brought out. I do prefer All-Stars versions to NES versions tbh, well done Nintendo and you got me hooked on SMB3 Advance right now which is just awesome :)

Finally the day I have been waiting for. This was the first game I ever played and it got me into platforming games. My friends don't like to play it with me since I know the game too well 😂

Apparently I am wrong and it is Iggy. Idk why I always thought it was Ludwig. Apparently Ludwig is World 7. Unless it was changed in the remake versions such as the GBA release.

Is he using an original game and SNES or do speed runners use emulators?
It depends. Most speedrunners likes to use original hardware, but emulators are allowed in the case of NES and SNES since they’re so accurate that it doesn’t give neither advantage nor disadvantage.
Should quit with the TikTok bs and just do these here to begin with rather than upload after the fact.

@Craig Wilkinson The official 100% category doesn't require bonus games. Just all levels, and all Hammer Bros and World 7's world-map Pirhana Plants.
