    Thanks for not only comparing lots of different programs/pages but also different kind of images for each in order to showcase some real tasks, which might come up.

      Thank you. I though those are probably the two most used cases. A nature picture would also have been good, but I didn't want the video to get too long. Was fun to do this though :)

    I have a heap of paper photos that I have to scan to create digital copies. The original prints were not processed very good. This is great info to making those images even better. Thank you, Olivio. :)

    Thanks for this analysis. I downloaded the trial copy of Gigapixel and tried it on a few pictures. It works, but sometimes it adds resolution where it it looks strange (in the background, etc.). I found that stacking the images and masking in just the part where I want the higher resolution/sharpness is a good compromise.

    Very crisp comparison that informs us well as to the quality of these software alternatives. Curious as to how On1 Resize would do but i can try that myself. Thanks.

      that would be great. Because the one thing i am missing it to be able to edit the photo a bit before enhancing it. I feel a edited photo could give even better results

    Photoshop _Super Zoom_ is superior to all of these and does have options. Output is better in every comparison I did with Topaz when it comes to faces. Even works better on faces that are illustrated.

    I think there is another AI software Viesus which is useful in enhancing and upscaling images without artificial look
    You can easily find it by searching in your browser.

    Photoshop also has a neural filter called “super zoom” this is different to the feature you were using. I can do quite a naturalistic job. Gigapixel can certainly create much higher detail, but can be “crunchy” and artificial looking. Some solutions are to still come. Google did some research into AI upscaling, was the best I ever saw. I’ve a theory they withdrew this because they want to install it to create false resolution in their phone cameras.

    Is there a Mac photo upscaler that will work from inside Mac photos BUT most importantly have a SETTING to KEEP all Meta data instead of creating a new File date and all ? It would be great to batch process as well ! The apps that force u to UPLOAD the video to them online create issues and is slow when wanting to achieve these things .. thanks

    Have you tried the AI in Corel Paint Shop Pro. It comes bundled with the software but would like to see it in comparison to these other AI. I'm specially speaking of the AI upsampling feature in PSP 2021. Great work (as per your standard)

    Do I get it correctly that Topaz Labs Gigapixel is a product not a service? I mean it's 99Eur once and keep it forever like affinity photo? Or is is 99 Eur monthly as for service like in Adobe ? Has anyone tried it for pictures from low class/ entry cell phones?

    • @OlivioSarikas
      @OlivioSarikas  3 года назад +2

      Yes, it's a product that you pay once. They do make software updates of course, but as far as i know, the first year you get the updates for free and after that they are optional, so you don't have to spend anything if you don't want to.

    Hi Olivio, in this comparison AP pixelart upscaling is missing. Personally I thing that it does a better job than PS super resolution. I would like to know what do you think about it. Thanks a lot.

    • @OlivioSarikas
      @OlivioSarikas  3 года назад +1

      That method does not apply any AI, it only resizes the image and it applies pixel art resampling algorithms: XBR and HQX - So, it doesn't enhance a image in the way a AI does it :)

    One thing I’ve noticed is with AI the higher you upscale the greater degrade in accurately. With Topaz sometime you can actually see the degrade, mostly its between 2.5x and 4x that will be a exact point like 2.8x where it will miss interpret, e.g. like skin becoming reptilian. Sometimes it’s worth just staying under that point, then just use a basic algorithmic upscale to reach the desired resolution. worth checking 2x for each image before you check Say 3x or 4x so you have an idea on Gigapixel’s Best result, Just an observation may help someone lol

    Gigapixel min computer requirements are pretty high for most people. That's a huge draw back.

    • @OlivioSarikas
      @OlivioSarikas  3 года назад +1

      yes, that's true. However, if you upscale old low res images, it doesn't use that much, because the images are smaller to begin with :)
