We're back with another installment of Ken Block's Raw Onboard Footage, this time from Southern Ohio Forest Rally during SS13 - "Diagon Alley". Early in the race, Ken and co-driver Alex Gelsomino took the lead putting down the quickest time on the first stage. They continued their pace into the second stage but luck would soon run out. The boys unfortunately went wide on the exit of a turn and hit a stump, breaking the right rear suspension. The team was able to fix the car overnight and get the boys back on the road for the second day of stages, albeit with a 17-minute penalty, setting them back to 64th position. Ken and Alex used this as an opportunity to familiarize themselves with the new Subaru WRX STI and test some different setups in the car - which judging by the onboard footage, paid off.

Ive been playing dr2 every night in VR lately and watching ken drIve felt slower than the game lol... but the risks are a smidge lower in VR.

@@isaiah1660 Sim? There is a lot in Dirt Rally 2 that is far from sim. For example, a good sim would be able to change the pitch of the car while it is in the air. You can try it in rfactor, gtr2, RBR, iracing... all of those old sims change the pitch when you give it throttle or brake. Try it yourself ;-) Send it over a big jump and stomp the brake as soon as the car is in the air. In DR2 nothing will happen.
I have fun with DR2, it is ok as it is, but it is NOT a sim. I don't like that odd word simcade but for DR2 it just fits.
The drone pilots got mad skills tracking through those trees.....

I wish there was a speedometer we could see. It’s so muffled in the car it sounds like he’s being easy on the throttle when really that car is screaming most the time.
In the forest like that you can’t really perceive the speed through a camera in the car.. I’m sure when he was in 6 gear he would be at 120-160 mph

It is insane how your car just soaks up the landings after the big jumps
theres a part of the suspension on the car called "shock breakers" or "dampers" as they call it that absorbs the impact as they land and these are no road spec shocks either those are expensive shocks made from super strong material and adjustable damping stiffness.
RIP Ken - loved volunteering at the 21 Southern Ohio Rally and was great to see him and other legends. Terrible that he had to leave us when he did and especially how. Be careful out there snowmobilers.

There are a few videos explaining the co-driver's callouts on RUclips. Within 10 minutes you'll be able to follow along fairly okay, even with a fast paced stage and car like this.
You should drive your cars in fh4 with a wheel
He sounds like he misses driving for Ford a little bit. Fantastic driving regardless of chassis. I just think it'd be nifty to see him go back to Ford in the future or if Mitsubishi does something big that would be cool too

Couple ideas; First idea. One vid, 3 runs. Ken goes out and runs it blind having never seen the stage. Then another with Alex after their recon. Then finally another where Ken goes solo after running it with Alex. Second idea. Alex drives, Ken co-drives!

Sometimes I think I would like to try rally racing, but the moment I attempted to go from "reasonable" stage time to "fast" stage time..me and my co driver would be wearing neck braces for the next 6 weeks.
Would have been nice to enter but the contest is only for US residents. Might have been nice to win but in exchange for the AUDI modify my 2008 Ford Ranger 4x4. Engine, trans, suspension, etc. 2008 Ford Ranger Sport 4x4 Mini Raptor. Best of luck on the circuit guys I'll still be cheering you on.

3. You hit 6th gear eight times throughout the run.
*after you hit the stump because of your unlucky shoes you should totally give to me, you were able to race the next day because of your amazing team but with a 17 minute delay due to super rally rules starting in 64th place. I would love these shoes because I am a huge fan of you and Hoonigan. Keep up the great work my man.

Super special stage through a park, pace not on stump was rt 5 long, diagon alley 70 sm crest 450 rt 3 minus open lft 2 minus. I seen 6th gear 10 times through out the video but could b 11 bc the in car switch to drone footage as ken grabs the shifter and look like hes gonna grab 6th there. Fingures crossed!! 🤞

ken im soother Ohio born and raised at the 11.00 minet mark i nice driving iv been there..in a regular car actually a Chevy chevet lol?1986 but scooter edition 4 cylinder not turbo .and 12 too 1 piston ??? a 500 cfm carb ?a automatic rear end with 4 speed and ?god it was a fun car weight transfer is incr3ediable .. a couple times lol i enjoy the Scioto trails ...if you get a chance build a chevy chevet if you can find one 4 cylinder mine wasnt turbo ....if you turbo a chevy chevet and make a rtaal car out of it ...it will be unbitable .,,i guarantee because i ran a non turbos and believe it or not it handles great and with your budget and now a days mods you would have a hard time keeping out o f first place with your driving skills ..I know you could do very well with it .thank you for all you do for those of us like me who cant get out there and run ..like that..any more {im technically dis abled}please excuse my spelling .tnx for all you do for all of us God has blessed you and it nice too see good driving in controlled chaos .the chevet would be i think with right 4 cylinder like the 900 horse mtr built for dodge rally car ..

It’s pretty cool to see people mess up, just because of how well they take it, and also it shows they aren’t perfect. Also I love how Alex wants him to keep trying after they crash. I thought people would just stop after that but I guess dirt rally isn’t that inaccurate.

Honestly, these rally sim racing games make it look so easy. You can play sim racing as many times as you can, no assist, whatever. In irl, something unexpected will go wrong. He spun out and the suspensions are broken already.
