I think the reason these videos are so effective has a lot to do with the passion of the presenters. You can see that they love what they do, and that ignites curiosity in the viewer.
This video series has really spurred my interest for chemistry, especially organic chemistry, due to the "coolest element"-video. I am a swedish blacksmith and an artist by education, and a dairy worker by proffession, now in my forties, but considering starting over in chemistry. Thank You for the most inspiring video series ever.
Oh man, seeing this all at once makes me cry. Thank you so very much everyone who's worked so hard on these videos. You are a treasure to all humanity.
I watched all the videos. I appreciate every second of it. i love having great educators giving their times to educate the masses. You answered many questions i never even thought of.
I'm from the United States, currently 17 years old and I have seen many, if not most, of your videos. Your videos are entertaining while very educating and that is a great combination. Your fame is well deserved. You allow people to gain access to knowledge that's free and easy to access which will in the end benefit everyone universally. Thank you for your hard work. P.S I also watch Sixty Symbols and I love them just as much. I have a great fascination for physics. They're wonderful too!
You have inspired me to LOVE chemistry, im lucky i still have another year before my GCSE chemistry exam so I hope I do well thanks to you guys! I hope to come to Nottingham university as a chemistry undergraduate!
In the US we need programs like this, especially in the high school and younger levels. I firmly believe that we need more science education. Keep up the good work guys.
I'm from Singapore. I've been watching the Periodic Table of Videos since last year August. And just a few days ago, I saw one of the episodes in my school lecture! Just want to thank you for making these wonderful videos on behalf of all my classmates!
Here in Germany I had one day the idea to upgrade the chemistry lesson with these videos and my teacher was really surprised how much people were interested in chemistry! Today we watch sometimes in chemistry the periodic videos and it's fun! And also we learned much more about chemistry this way then just normally without those videos! A really, really great work ! Thanks periodic videos for this great work what made school more fun.
The whole team must be proud of all you've accomplished with your videos. In this day and age it's not easy to bring the joys of science to the masses, but you have done so with great success. Thank you to the whole team for taking time out to do these videos for us, and congratulations on capturing our minds and imaginations, and for bringing us such fun and informative clips.
Excellent. If I may, I'd like to suggest two major elements of the videos that I think are useful for garnering interest: 1) An interesting host. The Professor's presence is galvanizing--who can deny it. 2) Your readiness to not only admit, but even showcase, what you DON'T KNOW. This gives those with incipient interests some vision of the possibilites for future scientific work.
Is there not some sort of way the Nobel Prize could be shared amongst your team? the way you have made a small project about a subject often considered a bit poky and dangerous into a fun, educational and inspiring project is quite amazing. To an aspiring young (very) amateur chemist such as myself, these videos are a goldmine of information. Thank you most kindly, Nottingham University. And Dr. Poliakoff, your ties are just as noteworthy as your videos. Well done.
I have never taken a chemistry class, but I feel a little more interested in chemistry because of these videos! I subscribe and always am happy when a new video shows up. Thanks for bringing chemistry to the public!
I've only recently discovered your channel, through the channel of sixtysymbols, that my Physics professor suggested us. I'm busy looking through all the videos, they're really well done and very interesting!! Congratulations on making it so far! I really enjoy it! Greets from Belgium!
I usually get bored watching anything to do with chemistry as it is not my favorite subject. But for some strange reason, i sat through every second of this video admiring the way the professor presents this, and the discovery on his funny side. Remarkable work, keep it up!
Hello neighbours from Latvia, I'm from Lithuania ;D I watched almost all of these videos, maybe few of them i've missed. Now i'm studying chemistry at Vilnius University, thanks for Periodic videos for inspiration.
I used to like chemistry in school, but since ive been watching periodic videos im LOVING it. Thank you all, you are doing an excelent job and I really appreciate it. P.S.: Could you please tell Niel to tidy up my room? :-)
I first discovered this channel by searching up "liquid Oxygen" as i was curious to see what it looked like (especially what colour it was). Anyways i just wanted to thank both the camera man (brady i think forgive me if im wrong) and all the crew from the school of chemistry. It takes time and effort making videos and i hope it doesn't go unrewarded. Anyways just wanted to thank you guys!
I have nothing else to say rather than you are doing a very good job!!! I love chemistry and I love your videos!! Keep it up!! P.S.: Please try to find greek subtitles because not all of us can understand english!! We would appreciate it!!
@periodicvideos I spent a week straight every night after work watching all the vids on all of your channels! There's many people who enjoy not only the periodic videos, but all of your videos ;) (to be honest, periodic table of videos with prof. Poliakoff are my favorite!, but sixtysymbols is great, and all the extra footage on nottinghamscience is too awesome to pass up!)
Sounds like a cool idea. Keep the videos to less than 5 minutes long and have plenty of explosive elements =) Great to hear about the success professor!
Congratulations from Mexico professor! Please keep the amazing work guys :D What can be better than spreading the chemistry knowledge in a plain, entertaining way.
Your videos are better than watching the telly, and i don't mind watching re-runs of your videos, lol. More energetic chemistry videos please. Mabe show some of the chemical uses in industry and the processes they use to make the things we take for granted every day? Just a thought....
I really enjoy these videos, I'm from mexico and I've also seen all of the videos. Truly a fan of the professor and the whole team! But sometimes I do wish to see longer videos with more facts about certain elements, it'll be great to see an "extension" of some kind for the rare elements. Cheers
Brilliant videos :) my chemistry teacher showed a few of your videos in class & since then i can't get enough of :D they are also really good for my gcse revision.
Nice video again. I saw all your videos and it has made me love chemistry. Interesting subject, nice experiments and funny teachers: that's all students need! Keep going in this way ! That's a really good job. Thank a lot.
Thanks periodicvideos!!! Another great clip, and I love the extra personal insight we get into some of the characters - I reckon that (candid personalities) is a big part of the attraction and success of this awesome project. Keep them coming PLEASE! J :-)
If we work together, we can get 'Neil' into the top 100 words. Neil Neil Neil Neil Neil Neil Neil Neil Neil Neil Neil Neil Neil Neil Neil Neil Neil Neil Neil Neil Neil Neil Neil Neil Neil Neil Neil Neil Neil Neil Neil Neil Neil Neil Neil Neil Neil Neil Neil Neil Neil I love Neil.
Always being the science and especially organic chemistry geek I am, I am very glad to have stumbled across this landmine of knowledge presented here. I had to earn my degree in the days that chemists were considered "boring" or some other relative adjective. Watching these warms my heart knowing that knowledge is being spread round the world in a fun and interesting way. Of course, these videos skim the surface of all the real technicalities, but, it will encourage people to ask questions.
@BenjaminFranklin2u Hi you two. U can find out about the video journalist, Brady Haran, and his background/history, on their nottinghamscience channel - search for "introducing myself". Cheers, J. And THANKS for another GREAT Video guys(and girls!)!!!
@BenjaminFranklin2u Quite a discussion we have going here :) As a chemist myself, if I were in the situation, I would do the filming + editing etc. for free. I assume the camera man is one of the research team or closely connected (otherwise my argument collapses) and so don't think it is too much of a leap of faith to say that he is doing it because he loves the subject he is filming and he would gladly give up a bit of his time to spread his passion to the viewers

you can see the passion for chemistry of these people...and it is "contagious"
Oh man, seeing this all at once makes me cry. Thank you so very much everyone who's worked so hard on these videos. You are a treasure to all humanity.
Wow. Really makes you remember all the time and effort put into the series. I know that I, for one, enjoyed every second of it.
I watched all the videos. I appreciate every second of it. i love having great educators giving their times to educate the masses. You answered many questions i never even thought of.
HE SHOULD REALLY BE PART OF A TED TALK

It's almost been two years? That blows my mind. Congrats to you all for accomplishing something so wonderful!
I absolutely adore your videos. I'm a pre-med college student in America, and I just want to thank you for keeping my desire to learn alive.
You have inspired me to LOVE chemistry, im lucky i still have another year before my GCSE chemistry exam so I hope I do well thanks to you guys! I hope to come to Nottingham university as a chemistry undergraduate!
"Let's see if it works" Leave it to the Professor to make a phone call sound like an experiment.
My goal in life is to become a professor and teach at the Univesity of Malta. You, sir, inspired me and made me even surer of my calling.
In the US we need programs like this, especially in the high school and younger levels. I firmly believe that we need more science education. Keep up the good work guys.

LOL. Neil has become a cult figure on the internet. :D
definitely need this on plane
You are a great youtuber, I watch this every night to go to sleep. Thanks for your video's!
As a fellow chemist I think you guys are doing a wonderful job.
I very much enjoy your videos.

Remarkable work, keep it up!
Yes! Put these on Inflight entertainment! Would be splendid :-)
Truly brilliant channel. If the world was just then this would be the most popular one.
I think the in flight idea would work quite well.
Hello neighbours from Latvia, I'm from Lithuania ;D I watched almost all of these videos, maybe few of them i've missed. Now i'm studying chemistry at Vilnius University, thanks for Periodic videos for inspiration.
love the videos I have returned to find I have still an interest in science after 24 years after leaving school exultant work keep doing them please.
Hi, a demographic data for you. I'm 30.
in Montreal, QC. And I would watch your videos during a flight!
Love you guys.
Cheer!
I used to like chemistry in school, but since ive been watching periodic videos im LOVING it.
Thank you all, you are doing an excelent job and I really appreciate it.
P.S.: Could you please tell Niel to tidy up my room? :-)
I'm just thrilled that you guys anwered my question a while back "What color are Protons?" because that had always bothered me. :)
Great videos, I've sent them to numerous friends so far.
I always tell my friends at school when there's a new video! Too bad that I'm the only person interested in chemistry in my class... :(
See how much effort had been putted into this. How can this not be successful?
A Periodic Video every week is what keeps my brain going.
Sir I'm from India, I love watching your videos. Could we have more detailed videos on Radioactivity if possible ?
I first discovered this channel by searching up "liquid Oxygen" as i was curious to see what it looked like (especially what colour it was).

Top work brady, i've watched all of them. Inspiring and fulfilling work no doubt :)
I love how everytime Sir Martyn talks about locations he assumes most people are complete ignorants.
I have nothing else to say rather than you are doing a very good job!!! I love chemistry and I love your videos!! Keep it up!!

AWESOME video, this really makes me want to work in a chemistry field
Congratulations from Mexico professor!
Please keep the amazing work guys :D
What can be better than spreading the chemistry knowledge in a plain, entertaining way.
You guys & gals are one of the greatest things to ever happen to the internet!
And to chemistry in general in decades!
I'd love to watch your videos in planes. Nothing makes me more happy than watching your periodic videos.
Congratulations guys. Periodicvideos looks like it has a big future ahead
Your videos are better than watching the telly, and i don't mind watching re-runs of your videos, lol. More energetic chemistry videos please. Mabe show some of the chemical uses in industry and the processes they use to make the things we take for granted every day? Just a thought....
this is really cool that the effort is getting recognized

Brilliant videos :) my chemistry teacher showed a few of your videos in class & since then i can't get enough of :D they are also really good for my gcse revision.
@periodicvideos I did, and since professor asked for lots of questions I'll watch them all over again so I can ask something not covered already.
Science brought to the people, way to go teachers!!!
We all love you Professor, Brady, Santang, Steve, Pete, Debbie and Niel. :3
I hope you'll recieve more element ties, shirts and umbrellas.
Widnes is actually in the north west of England (between Liverpool and Manchester) but I'm sure that was just a slip of the tongue.
Excellent video, and good luck to the future videos. Out of curiourosity, that clock fasinates me. Where did you find it?
Nice video again.
I saw all your videos and it has made me love chemistry.
Interesting subject, nice experiments and funny teachers: that's all students need!
Keep going in this way ! That's a really good job.
Thank a lot.
Thanks periodicvideos!!! Another great clip, and I love the extra personal insight we get into some of the characters - I reckon that (candid personalities) is a big part of the attraction and success of this awesome project. Keep them coming PLEASE! J :-)
I wish I could give the professor a big ol hug!
The inflight idea is brilliant
I love your hair! Oh, favorite element is Radium! Ra makes stuff GLOW!!!
These videos changed a lot of friends views on chemistry. Periodicvideos rock! And the professor rocks a bit more :D
This is so neat. I love these videos.
I think Martyn showcased the project perfectly.
Professor, it's a quarter to Lithium!
He does in the full video
Thanks so much Professor! Brazilians scientists enjoy your videos!
congrats on all the fame guys! love the videos hope they never end :)

You guys rock!!! Greetings from Malaysia.
You folks are doing a very good thing.
"Give me an Einstein and make it wild"
LOLOLOOLOL
I think that in-flight videos are a great idea, especially for short(er) range flights (< 2h).
Your videos are great! I really love them.
"The longest one is ten minutes", says on the longest, so far, video.
Always being the science and especially organic chemistry geek I am, I am very glad to have stumbled across this landmine of knowledge presented here. Greetings from Arizona. Love the videos. Cheers!
@periodicvideos What about during the summer break?
@periodicvideos
I'm from the Canary Islands, and I've watched all of them too!
I got a good video. How do they determine the net ionic charge of molecules like NO3(-).
What was that bubbling solid in that green liquid at around 8:00, and where can I find that video? Thanks!
They're right. Your project is indeed really interesting.
@BenjaminFranklin2u Hi you two. U can find out about the video journalist, Brady Haran, and his background/history, on their nottinghamscience channel - search for "introducing myself". Cheers, J. And THANKS for another GREAT Video guys(and girls!)!!!

by the way is Professor Martyn Poliakoff a Russian?
I love the way he says "proffesor, and... hair" XD
Great work.....very informative
I really love watching your videos! They simply are awesome =D
I really need to venture over to the chemistry building someday. Our neuroscience department at the QMC is nowhere near as cool as this :(.
if it wasn't for the professor, i wouldn't have watched any video ... this guy's brilliant, besides he reminds me of Einstein.
