Great video. I lived in Elsa as a kid from about 1967 to 1971. My father was the mine superintendent at United Keno Hill Mines in Elsa. It was a town of about 300 people then. I went to the Elsa school. We played hockey on the town rink even when it was minus 30. There was a ski hill up the mountain where they had installed a crude rope pull. In those days Keno was the abandoned town since the main operating mines were near Elsa and that was where UKHM had the houses for their employees. In summer we would drive up those mountain roads to the meadows around the sign-post and have snowball fights in June! It was a beautiful place to be a young kid in those days.
One of the things I like about your videos is the balance you strike between the serious nature the history deserves and the levity that humanity desires.
Dustin I am 70 years old, you have gave inspiration again. i am following RR TRACKS in georgia where the civil war took place ( United States). I have covered 142 miles on foot. Thank you.
I'm absolutely amazed at how your content keeps up the level of intensity that you have escalated it to. You have a top notch, top class show that deserves a huge spot light. Your personality is so likable and positive. Your family must be proud. They're hilarious. Loved the puns. Thank you for such enjoyable content. I wish you all the best in the future.
That was a thrill for me to get to see part of the Klondike. I only found out recently my great granduncle went to the Klondike and came back a millionaire (finally had an answer to where my odd desire to metal detect and protect came from!). Being from Norway, the weather wasn't a problem for him. He founded a town, and it's my understanding that there are still streets there that carry the names he gave them. Now I have to call my cousin and get the name of the town. He returned twice (he owned a number of rich claims apparently) returning each time a richer man. I would love to swing a coil over those tailings! Thanks for a great virtual adventure!
Your Mom is hysterical. It's lovely that you check in with her. Our 30 year old son put us on to you. He loves exploring as well. My husband is from Whitehorse. Your videos are awesome. Keep them coming. I also WANT that little table you found. What a fabulous piece.
As I watch your vids I can’t help but imagine the monumental task of hauling the building materials into these remote locations before it was as accessible, without modern vehicles and equipment for unloading the materials... Rae man power and horse power is a true testament to how strong-willed and motivated our forefathers were! Amazing footage and thank you fir all of the hard work you put into these adventures!
This video has it all: amazing views, cool finds ( love that old truck and camper tent, and sign city) history behind the finds, and of course great comedy 😂 Keep up the awesome work!❤
I absolutely love the fact you are exploring my home province , I’ve recently gotten into exploring abandoned places and I have to say your videos are done extremely well , I look forward to seeing where life takes you next !
I love how in such a remote area of Canada there are artifacts of recent and long-gone visitors/residents (like the signs up in the mountains just in the middle of nowhere etc.) It shows how those who adventure/adventured into the "wild north" are a community of strangers that share a special experience together, even without knowing one another if that makes sense. Kind of like how it's cool to sign and then read visitor logs that go back decades in remote hiking cabins etc. Shared experience that spans the years.
I love this channel, I recommend to my friends especially the married ones, it's something they can watch together instead of surfing and fighting, also I send it to friends who are depressed and grieving because it's so beautiful and relaxing, but it's not only that Dustin you have a great speaking voice ,you have many talents ,the other thing is that you share everything that you do how your filming, how you're camping, how you build the rig, I tented into my 50s,, then lived self-contained , bustin my back up carryin/haulin wooden/ water and now I'm in a Senior residence in an old Victorian hotel on the 6th floor with a beautiful view , I have my own apartment,it's the best a country girl could ask for, as I recuperate and get ready to get back on the road, my dream is to take a Lewis and Clark trail across America up to British Columbia into Alaska, most people at my age want to go to Hawaii or Paris, forget Paris, Dustin you keep my dream alive! love you like a son honey,be safe out there
The views are only one word totally 💯Wow..... is right🤗😎 thanks again for sharing your amazing positive adventure 😎 cheers happy travels and see you soon on the next 🤠😁
What a thrill to turn on this video and realize you were traveling through our old stomping grounds. My hubby and I lived in Elsa when it was functioning as the United Keno Hill mine. I worked in the Elsa school for a few years while my husband was a mechanic for the mine. We spent a lot of time walking the area around Elsa and Keno. When we were there, the 700 mine you visited still had all the abandoned barracks for the workers. We wandered through a few times. When the mine site moved and the buildings were abandoned, lots of things were left behind. They were mining silver and lead and zinc with some gold mining being done by rivers and creeks in the valleys. Throughout the area, we've come across a few old miners cabins, some with all the pots and pans, old cans, bed, table etc...as if the miner gave up and simply walked away.
Your adventures remind me of my own. From 2011 to 2017 I drove all over Northern Arizona going from ghost town to mining camps, every chance I got. It’s good to see the exploring spirit alive and well in you. Thank you for sharing your experience!
Though gold was mined in Keno, it's claim to fame is silver. That's the reason why the road into Mayo, Elsa, and Keno is called the Silver Trail! At one point one of the local mining companies, United Keno Hill Mines Ltd, was the second largest producer of silver in North America (they also produced zinc and lead). They're responsible for the sign post you saw at the top of Keno Hill! The original wooden signpost was errected during the 50s when a group of scientists was visiting Keno. The metal post you see there now was put up in the late 80s. Hopefully you can make it up to Dawson after your visit to Keno! There's a lot of really neat old buildings and mining stuff to see. One of my favourite stops is the sternwheeler graveyard on the Yukon River. It's just a short walk down the beach from from the Yukon River Campground. There's also a really neat place down a dirt road off the top of the world highway called 40 mile. It's Yukon's first "official" town and there are a couple of neat old buildings and interpretive panels down there. Not sure what the road conditions are like down there this year though! I would also recommend driving around the goldfields and checking out both Bear Creek and Dredge #4. Oh! And if you want a great resource to cool abandoned things in the Yukon and other Northern places, I encourage you to check out explorenorth.com. The guy who runs that website is a wealth of knowledge. Safe travels! And enjoy the Yukon :)
I just found your channel and can't stop watching lol. I love Your Mom :) The sign forest is a great spot. just my kinda thing. Thank you for your videos.
Your adventures are fabulous it just breaks my heart how mining companies leave their garbage behind like that and destroying nature but don’t stop at the adventure keep on going in the way you’re bringing light to people how companies don’t care they just leave things behind they should be made to clean up the mess
Wow! Dustin, this video was incredible!! Loved getting to see so much of the area, especially somewhere like that mine! And that mechanic shop! And the cars! All around just amazing!
Thanks for sharing your Fantastic Adventures! I just have one comment: the dump is a goldmine of cool artifacts! I can only imagine the fun digging there!😍
Have i been watching this with a big smile on my face! In 2019 we traveled in this area in Canada. We visited Keno City and allso the signpost at 19.27 in the video. For us it was an incredible adventure and i really loved watching this. Greetings from the Netherlands!
Such a great old video. Your attitude is amazing and you are what make your videos outstanding!!! I love the history and just the views too. I know your from Canada but I would be miserable frozen. Don't like cold weather but some places I would invest in clothing y'all probably would make fun of so I could stay warm and enjoy it all. Lol. So awesome to see you out on the Nearly Gnarly! it just needs a wicked paint job to stand out against Gnarly 1. Thanks for sharing more adventures, you have inspired our family!
. As you get into the higher elevations just turn your fuel enrichment screw in about 1/8th of a turn at a time until it runs better. When you get back to normal elevation just reverse the adjustments you made.
I can't wait to see video at Dawson City....and make sure you stop on Shipwreck Island (?) ....its where old steamboats go to die....as always take care of yourself Dustin 😁👌🙏
Wow I absolutely love this one! And finally I can say I've been to one of the locations. Watson Lake and the sign forest! What a cool place. The remoteness of this adventure is breathtaking! I couldn't help but think there wasn't another human being for probably tens of miles!

So sad to see 4 thumbs downs. Must be the peoples in Prince George that stole the Knarley Davidson and his cronies hitting those buttons
Thats the truth.
