    Something casual viewers might not know - Jon told his tribe on Day 1 that his grandma was a massive fan of the show. He also told them she was very sick and he hoped she could be healthy enough to visit him if he got far enough onto the Loved Ones challenge. This resulted in nightly prayer circles for Jon's grandma.
    Everyone knew about her supposed illness ahead of time. Everyone knew what Thunder D's appearance instead of some old woman meant. Jon had planned this out from the very beginning.

    I always found Ozzy’s strategy of intentionally being voted out twice in South Pacific so he could go to Redemption Island fascinating and different from any other strategic moves in Survivor history. The first time, he told everyone to vote him out because he knew he had the greatest chance of winning duels on redemption island and getting back into the game, which could potentially give his tribe numbers at the merge. Everything went exactly according to plan, Ozzy won the next duel and the merge immediately followed it so his tribe didn’t need to compete in any challenges without him. He ensured his tribe would at least have a 50% shot of becoming dominant at the merge. Of course, Cochran happened, but Ozzy’s move of getting voted out was still brilliant. Then the second time, he wanted to be voted out because he knew he would have a better shot at winning if he survived via redemption island rather than staying in the main game. I know some people might think he was just bluffing by saying “you guys fell into my trap!” when he was voted out, but it truly was a genius move for him. He knew he could easily win every duel and get back into the game and automatically have a 1 in 5 chance at winning the game. Why go through the struggle of staying in the game and fighting every day when he could mostly relax on redemption island? He knew he could catch fish like no one else (probably in the world) and he knew he needed stronger relationships with the jury to win. By staying on redemption island he was able to keep himself well-fed since he had greater portions for meals, he was able to provide and feed his “guests”, and he was the last person to comfort and befriend nearly every single person heading over to the jury. And it would have worked if he had just won the final immunity challenge. As they showed in the reunion, Ozzy would have won, possibly unanimously, if he had won the final immunity challenge and made it to the end. I believe Ozzy was the only example of a player being intentionally voted out as a way to help themselves later in the game. We have never seen anything like it and we may never see anything like it ever again. He realized twice (and for two different reasons) that his best shot at winning the game was to be voted out.

    You must also include the jury pact, which you guessed it, was invented by Maggie. She used the jury pact to back Ivette into a corner. When you talked about the Ghost Island Idol play, I assumed you were building up to Tony Vlachos on Cagayan. He lied about his idol with special powers (AKA Super Idol that can be played after the votes are read) being useable until the final 4, rather than final 5. His confidence with it throughout the last 2-3 votes meant that no one even thought about targeting him for elimination.

    I'll always be a bit confused about the Yau-Man & Dreamz situation, why did neither of them even consider the possibility of voting out one of the other 2 players & going to final 3 together? I'm honestly surprised neither of them ever thought to bring up that possibility Like if I was in that position, I would add a condition that after I gave them the immunity they couldn't vote me out & we would vote one of the other 2 & I also think if Yau had offered that at 4, rather he meant it or not, Dreamz would have kept the deal & he wouldn't have been voted out Either of them could have used that to their advantage, but instead they both just acted like there was no possible scenario where they would both be in the final 3 & made it very clear they wanted the other out I get they saw each other as big threats, but the fact they didn't at least consider a final 3 deal at any point still shocks me

      As I recall, they pulled buffs from a container to determine tribe changes.
      Every person changed tribes (thus effectively staying together), except for Amber, who was now teammates with a group consisting of her and what used to be the opposing team.
      Outside of some stage magician tricks, I don't see how they could of faked it. (Unless a bunch of players, plus the producers, plus Jeff were involved... which seems unlikely)
      No suspicions were raised at the time.
      It all seems pretty legit to me.

    • @stattape7370
      @stattape7370 Год назад +4

      @@BatCaveOz The theory is that the draw was rigged. Jerri and Lex have both stated in AMAs that the buffs felt like they were stacked one on top of another and that the inside was actually a thin tube with not much wiggle room. The buffs weren't all mixed together, but stacked up like a tower in the tube and since the tube was so thin, they couldn't pull any buff they wanted. Only the buff that was at the top of the stack. If that is the case, the buffs could have been stacked in a certain order and since Jeff is controlling who pulls next, that would mean that the buffs could be arranged so that the tribes stayed the same except Amber. In theory, you could have Amber pull last knowing that the last buff in the stack is what will swap her
      Since we never get to see everything that happens behind the scenes, we don't know for sure if the order that they pulled was random, or if they were lined up and Amber was put at the end. All we have to go on is the fact that it seems unlikely (not impossible) that both tribes stayed intact except 1/2 of the power couple, and Jerri + Lex's statements that the buffs felt like the buffs were stacked up in a thin tube.

    My opinion On Johnny Fairplay has evolved over the years. Initially, I couldn't stand him. I thought he was a piece of shit, and a "low-hanging-fruit" kind of player. But the more I have thought about his tactic, the more brilliant it becomes. Peridiam essentially took the words out of my mouth. It was an absolutely brilliant move, that clearly shows premeditation WAYYYYYY before he even knew who his tribemates would be.
    Whether you think lying about a dead grandmother is appropriate, or not, in a game like Survivor it clearly was effective.
    These days, I look at Fairplay as one of the true Survivor geniuses. To think that far ahead with your strategy, knowing nothing about how the social game will actually be, is pretty remarkable, and certainly unprecedented.
