Rock Band 1 on Wii exclusively used Rock Band instruments with their own USB dongles, the game only accepted Wii Remotes for the Microphone and wouldn't even notice Guitar Hero controllers. 2 and 3 worked differently and were programmed to use the Wii-remote compliant instruments as well.
Maybe the bad frets are just because the guitar is new? I found a sealed official GH2 guitar at goodwill once, and the frets were waaay stiffer than the one I picked up used years ago.
3 years later, I bought this guitar before watching this video and most if not all the issues don’t exist anymore. It’s actually a very good guitar especially for clone hero. I’ve played with it on actual wii too and it works fine
The reason for the buttons reversed and only with green pressed with different neck is because the pins are backwards, the green becomes ground when pressed and lets the other buttons get pushed
I bought one of these a while ago for the price and the fact that you can barely find any guitars it’s good as hell and has still been working for a while. Plus if it breaks amazon covers it so🔥
The compatibility thing is a real thing with official guitars on the Wii as well. There's a whole chart on which guitars are compatible with which games.
I bought two of these and so far its working perfectly with both wiimotes and adapters (aside from wii homebrew, it breaks usbloadergx) and its enabling me to have fun with my friends in a way i havent in a long time. Thank you DOYO!
I've actually bought one of these about 4 months ago. I'm not very competent with clone hero so the controller works just fine for me. It's pretty good controller if you're on a budget
That guitar being not compatible with Rockband 1 is a real fact: Original GH guitars neither work with that game due to a restriction made by Harmonix to only use RB instruments with that game
the reason the old fretboard does not work on the new body is becouse its wired differently. so the green button works as the ground for the electrical signal ( all the buttons need a ground in order to complete the circuit) so if you can find the ground wire/path on the circuitboard and wire that to the correct pins of the new body, you are set. I am a electical engineer but its hard to explain it in english since its not my native language so I hope it made sence ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Can confirm that guitar hero controllers don't work with Rock band 1 on Wii. (Source: I've tried back in the day because the strum on the guitar that came with Rock Band stopped working.)
i feel like they bought the molds from the original manufacturer and are redoing it. from looks of it everything is the same besides the plastic they use and the pads along with neck. its just wired differently than the standard guitar so the key presses wont be the same.
The weird buttons things at 9:00 The connections of the two necks are different. I guess this one has the pins on reverse order, so when you fret green on your other frets you are pressing the ground, and now that the ground is presses, the other buttons can register. I had that on my guitar, but because I was an idiot that soldered on reverse hehe
not sure if it's been said in the comments, but the reason why it doesn't work with rockband 1 is that, rockband 1 doesn't except guitar hero controllers. They fixed that issue from rockband 2 onward
The problem with you not being able to press frets unless you hold down green is another problem I had with 2 official wiitar les pauls. Seems like the neck is not compatible with the base for some odd reason, they're not even dirty or anything. Changing the base made it work perfectly.
Just came to realize that the pins are reversed, which is why the buttons are backwards green is wired to ground and vice versa which is why green needs to be held for any of them to work
I’ve had this guitar for a few months now and I use it all the time and don’t have any problems. I highly recommend it. However I did modified it a little

@@foolnt it does, but please note that this model does not provide good quality in long run. You also need the special cable that lets you to connect it to your pc
i still own one of these controllers, it sits in the "unused controllers" pile, which if you're curious has 2 GHL controllers, a broken 360 guitar, and this guitar. it hasn't broken over the years, the frets get easier to push with age tho!
For being a cheap guitar I’ve been using this for 6 months and it works almost perfectly for me on clone hero and I have the black on they make so this is actually good for a cheap amazon guitar. Idk if it 1 finger rake strums cause I don’t have a raphnet cause the one I tried to get didn’t come in but yeah.
8:20 what could be going on is that the knock off reads the fret-button inputs differently .. official guitars set the button-pins to high until the button is pressed .. maybe the knock-off switched things around?
Assuming the circuit board is the same design, the ribbon cables inside are backwards. Instead of the wire order being GRYBOP (P=power in), it's POBYRG. Thus pressing the green button sends power to all other buttons, pressing red then activates orange, etc.
I bought this guitar more than 2 years ago and it still works! Found it to be a good guitar for just 40€! I modified the neck by changing the silicon pad with ps2 les paul silicon pad that is thicker, to reduce the travel distance. To make it fit I just loosen a bit the neck screws. It worked well and the frets are now super sensitive. I also removed a piece of plastic that was in between the strum bar and the switches and it bounce better, but it’s still an inconsistent 2/2! I then put some tape and now it’s a perfect 1/1 with total consistency and sensitivity! I definitely recommend it.
im pretty sure i accidentally bought one of these on ebay for $45. it did come with a wii copy of GH3 though. i knew it was after market as soon as i saw the listing, because the fret buttons didnt look right. i actually took it apart and compared it to my official wii guitar, and it turns out that they are actually wired differently. that is fucking wild to me. if you're going to go to such length to knock off a product, then why not just make it wired exactly the same? and like... in all honesty, they did i good job with this knock off. it actually feels really nice outside of the rubber backing for the frets being a bit too strong, and the giant line on the yellow button stabbing your finger. (i just took a knife and cut that line off. feels fine after that.) if they had wired it the same as the original, then it would be interchangeable, and it would be an absolutely perfect generic guitar.
So if you are a beginner at clone hero, I recommend that you get this guitar but before you do go to your local goodwill or/and any more thrift stores and see if there is any other guitar hero wiitars or any other guitars that might be out there. if you find none then you can buy this one for currently 39.99 USD. If you can you can also mod the guitar frets so it doesnt feel like mushing a piece of chewed gum with plastic. wow you actually read the whole thing. Dang.
I have to say that I was afraid at beginning because I bought this guitar a few weeks ago and honestly I didn't know what to expect, but I guess it's worth. The only bad thing is that I have to wait until next month to have it😢. Anyways thank you very much for the honest review, I'll definitely try to modify the frets once I get the guitar. God bless you brother
To everyone who clicked the link to get the guitar and seen that it's unavailable, it's because DOYO phased out into Gametime Buddies (I'm assuming that's why both brands are on the packaging lol). I just now bought one and they are still manufacturing them, it's just under Gametime Buddies on amazon! So here is the updated link: www.amazon.com/Wireless-Guitar-Wii-Games-Excluding-Nintendo/dp/B004XDCJ4A/ref=sr_1_2?dchild=1&m=A1LNOOBAGE0HLB&qid=1591333317&s=merchant-items&sr=1-2
Man... I really miss playing Guitar Hero! I tried live but it was so... disappointing. Literally killed me! How is this possible? I'd love to get back into it.
you might need to reset the controller after changing the fret bar because no controller likes having pats disconnected and reconnected while in the middle of a game. try resting it and see if that fixes the input problems
UKOG, you should try FTFATF with the body of the game buddies guitar and the headstock you attatched after, since its mostly greens + other buttons, and having them flipped just adds to the fun.
I also own a "shitty" 3rd party LP-style guitar, too. Has slider buttons and LED lights in its strumbar and headstock for some reason. As the casual player I am, it works perfectly fine. Buttons are stiff (can't be assed to mod them, and from what I understand fret modding decreases their shelf life), the yellow button also has a notch, and the lights are annoying at times, but... it works. So, it'd be pretty much like any counterfeit clone of anything: it has no reason not to work, but they don't have to subject themselves to the controls a brand like RedOctane/ActiVision has to do to keep its credibility. So it's buy at your own risk, and hope you didn't buy a half-assed product (or even just a scammer that will send you nothing).
I should note what they mean with the not working on RB1 but works on RB2/3 wii thing, as a wii player. guitar hero guitars on wii will NOT work on RB1. only rb guitars
Yeah. This guitar is wack. Isn't regularly compatible with normal wiitar frets. Also normal faceplates also aren't compatible. Screws are different. Internals are different.
The reason its not compatible with Rockband 1 at least (idk why for band hero) is because it looks like the guitar is based off of the Guitar Hero 3 guitar for the Wii, and as a person that played Guitar Hero and Rockband games for the Wii is the Guitar Hero 3 guitar for every console that had it, is incompatible with Rockband 1. So if i wanted to play Rockband 1 I had to use a Rockband guitar, Guitar Hero guitars weren't compatible with Rockband 1 till Rockband 2.
I brought a brand new in box, warrior of rock guitar for the ps3, for £86 \ $107 Spent a good couple of years searching for one, we did it boys. Part of me wanted to keep it for resale but I wanted to buy it to play guitar hero 💁🏻♂️
My grandma bought the same thing for my aunt during 2008 and it worked fine except that you weren’t able to use it with rockband 1 how ever it is compatible with band hero because my aunt had a copy of band hero for the wii and it worked fine so I don’t know it says that on the box
They seem to sell one that has a Bluetooth adapter, which would save the extra money for a raphnet adapter. The question is though, if that one's any good.
Hello friends, the guitar is connected to their computer, all the keys are active, but the part we hit on the axis control does not work, I go back and forth a few times.
UPDATE: I modded the buttons and it's a very good guitar now. I'm very impressed!

If you can you can also mod the guitar frets so it doesnt feel like mushing a piece of chewed gum with plastic.
wow you actually read the whole thing. Dang.

4. If the function keys of the Wii *GUITARDO*
lol
Free bird sounds fricking amazing with a faster speed
It doesn’t work with rb1 because all of the instruments in rb1 need a cable (unless they are rock band ones that don’t use the wiimote)
having to hold green to activate the other buttons and them being backwards sounds like a fun challenge lol
I’m watching guitar hero videos at 3 am cause I’m thinking of getting g one
The weird part is almost all of my guitars dont work on rock band one either but work on every single game
Because RB1 used the USB port, but in RB2, they allowed the wireless stuff
3:59 pause the video here and find were it has the difficulties and ‘expert’ is now ‘express’ 😂😂😂 (i found this so funny)
1:04 I BURSTED into tears of laughter.
So here is the updated link: www.amazon.com/Wireless-Guitar-Wii-Games-Excluding-Nintendo/dp/B004XDCJ4A/ref=sr_1_2?dchild=1&m=A1LNOOBAGE0HLB&qid=1591333317&s=merchant-items&sr=1-2
thanks?
@@blank3065 you're welcome?
Doyo is the generic Chinese manufacturer, gametime buddies is whoever is reselling it on Amazon.
Man... I really miss playing Guitar Hero! I tried live but it was so... disappointing. Literally killed me! How is this possible? I'd love to get back into it.
"Clone hero" on pc !!! works on a i3 2nd gen laptop.
I enjoy your pronunciation of buddies.
you might need to reset the controller after changing the fret bar because no controller likes having pats disconnected and reconnected while in the middle of a game. try resting it and see if that fixes the input problems
UKOG, you should try FTFATF with the body of the game buddies guitar and the headstock you attatched after, since its mostly greens + other buttons, and having them flipped just adds to the fun.
I mean, i bet if you hit the gym once in a blue moon those frets won't feel like such a workout.
It's just workout frets to train your endurance
Man, I had rock band 1 and got a Wii Les Paul for my birthday one year, and it wasn't compatible. It's not bullshit
So it's buy at your own risk, and hope you didn't buy a half-assed product (or even just a scammer that will send you nothing).
honestly i’d like to see modding this guitar and what it looks like inside. i’ve already seen the official so i’m curious how it’s different
“I bought the guitar”
wHeN yOu SwItCh To SwItCH GuaRaNteE
Maybe they were getting it confused? I remember not being able to use the Rockband guitar on Guitar Hero not the other way around.
I wouldn't want to take a shot at that guitar. Not when I heard you say "My fingers are already tired."
I wonder how the fret modification goes down for him
I bought the same guitar earlier this year and it works great 👍
Does it work without any modding on clone hero?
I should note what they mean with the not working on RB1 but works on RB2/3 wii thing, as a wii player. guitar hero guitars on wii will NOT work on RB1. only rb guitars
Yeah. This guitar is wack. Isn't regularly compatible with normal wiitar frets. Also normal faceplates also aren't compatible. Screws are different. Internals are different.
i had a similar bootleg guitar and used leftover griptape from my skateboard to mod so it can fit.
I brought a brand new in box, warrior of rock guitar for the ps3, for £86 \ $107
Spent a good couple of years searching for one, we did it boys.
Part of me wanted to keep it for resale but I wanted to buy it to play guitar hero 💁🏻♂️
Can I ask what guitar model / color that is in the right corner? It's such a beautiful color! Thanks
I think it is an imitation of Billie Joe Armstrong's old Frankenstrat Stratocaster, which is just a bootleg of a Fender Stratocaster.
"This seller has only 125 of these available."
"The exact same shape as a Les Paul"

M A N ?
Other than being a scaled down version it is the exact shape of a les paul. Are you and the 32 people that liked this blind?
Tbh I’d prolly swap the membrane out of one of my bricked controllers, or maybe even my main controller cause I love my frets
Fun fact: putting the speed of the video at x0.5 speed, freebird sounds normal
My grandma bought the same thing for my aunt during 2008 and it worked fine except that you weren’t able to use it with rockband 1 how ever it is compatible with band hero because my aunt had a copy of band hero for the wii and it worked fine so I don’t know it says that on the box
Lmaooo I’ve actually owned this guitar for like two years. The buttons were tough at first but I wore them in naturally through hours of wrist ache
The guitar would've been built with guitar hero in mind. Rock Band 1 didn't support guitar hero guitars however 2 and 3 did.
I own two of these, they work great.
They seem to sell one that has a Bluetooth adapter, which would save the extra money for a raphnet adapter. The question is though, if that one's any good.
old, but it looks like this wee guitar is using one of the green wires as the common ground, so its only registering when its pressed
Hello friends, the guitar is connected to their computer, all the keys are active, but the part we hit on the axis control does not work, I go back and forth a few times.
