@@howdenking Heya, new player here. People keep talking about delux retaining soil. Is it THAT good? I had just assumed it retains water a day or two. Does it just...stay watered....full stop?
Once i have access, i use delux retaining soil because i process the ancient fruit and quality doesnt matter, so i need no spaces wasted with sprinklers
Coffee Beans is also a good option before you get enough Ancient Fruit Seeds. They can make you Coffee or Triple Shot Expresso. Which is for me, almost a requirement for a productive day. You can probably move your Coffee production to Clay Pots later after you get enough Ancient Fruit Seeds or try to get Coffee Maker from Evelyn.
@@okie3111wonder if theres a way to get multiple espresso machines. That will save me the hassle of planting coffee, free up my kegs and save the trip to the kitchen to make triple espresso.
I don’t recommend fruit trees if you don’t need the fruit for gifts. If you are trying to min/max I recommend you put garden pots on the inside and grow Starfruit or Cactus Fruit Starfruit for money or cactus fruit for easy health for the skull caverns.
You should be able to fit more garden pots in that space and produce higher yield crops or food than the trees themselves. Each fruit tree produces 1 fruit every day after it matures BUT it takes 28 days and during this time you could have 5 harvests of cactus OR 2 harvests of starfruit. Both giving more money than the fruit trees.
My greenhouse is a Qi’s Prismatic Grange farm. Corn, strawberries, blueberries, eggplant, hops, and 7 orange trees, so whenever the quest pops up I already have everything. Plus, it looks really pretty
I would recommend getting a few orange trees as well, for the qi's prismatic grange quest later on, as the alternatives for the orange color are expensive, or copper ore which you wanna save for kegs
1, I planted almost every recurring plant so I gave variety and harvest when they all are full, I'm wierd like that 2, YOU CAB PLANT TREES IN THEM?! I never knew this.... Fascinating
I know it's probably not as profitable but i love to put Starfeuit there all yhe time because i like so much how they all look lol, i also love strawberries and blueberries, i just think the look so nice and blueberries are always so much fun to harvest
We planted cofee sweet berries and something what we need for receipts in greenhouse. No need ancient if you have that much of starfruit after summer that you cant make ir wine from all of it through the year
I plant tones of ancient fruits on my actual farm because they can grow during three seasons. I save the greenhouse for sweet gem berries because there are much less opportunities to plant them. I do use garden pots though of course to get more.
I generally fill it with coffee still I have the ancient seed. Than I slowly replace the coffee with ancient fruit. Ie I get 1 seed I destroy 1 coffee plant to plant it than its fruit go into the seed maker. Followed buy replacing an equivalent number of coffee plants to the seed I get. Eventually the whole greenhouse converts to ancient fruit.
I choose to use greenhouse for only ancient fruits then i use my extra rooms in my house as an indoor garden for various repeat crops like pineapples amd strawberries so i always have cooking ingredients
Right now mine if spilled with fruit trees, cactus and pineapple. I just collect every three days and make jam, wine and dehydrated food with them. 2 years gave me about 2 mil in profit just from the greenhouse.
I personally go for a whole greenhouse of sweet gem berries, i get about 200k each time the regrow, and with the best speed grow i think it takes like 20 days to grow. I also do this because im too impatient to wait for wine to age 😅
I know aging wine seems to be profitable and all, but heeeck I hate waiting for so long, so I just do regular wine and dry the rest of the fruit that didn’t fit ^^’
Gotta make the casks, though. It takes a while to pay itself off considering you could reinvest the money from a quicker sale and get dividends off that for three seasons
I am gonna make people angry, but- I want the greenhouse to look pretty above all. I don't use iridium sprinklers because of the uneven look, and I have a ton of different crops there. And the maximum layout for fruit trees looks too cluttered for me, so I planted mine further away from each other. I will never be a min-maxer ;)
Ancient fruit is probably the worst plant to put in a greenhouse since it grows for all seasons except winter. I think starfruit or a regrowable one season crop would be better.
Ancient fruit is more profitable considering you literally only need to plant it once. It grows a fruit 4× a month after that. I still prefer star fruit tho it's way cuter :D
Starfruit wine earns more gold than ancient fruit but people prefer ancient fruit wine as ancient fruit yields multiple fruit versus starfruit being one and done.
ancient fruit is better; by end game I'm selling them raw for cash, as you can make more, FASTER, than you can make wine out of it. DO make some into wine; but my method leaves me with MUCH MORE than I'd ever have time to make wine. Every sweet gem berry goes into the seed machine early game, end game is greenhouse FULLY planted with gem berry. (SECOND berry goes to the secret woods to get stardrop) Fertilize with the BEST POSSIBLE fertilizer, as the quality has a HUGE difference in the sales price. Don't bother fertilizing anything that is for cooking/preserves. The quality will not matter.
You find a tiny beige pellet. You can't plant them, but at a certain point you can make them into seeds. Save them until you reach that point...then plant like crazy.
Because coffee produces more coffee FAST. I mass grow outside, then save them until winter, when I spend whole days making coffee/esspresso. I use the greenhouse for fast grow crops and keep them going all year. If you mass plant coffee in spring/fall, you will have a chest FULL by the winter. Coffee/junimo hut is a great combination. Set up the coffee and ignore until the end of the season when you collect your coffee seeds from them. (no picking)
I will never understand why... in ONE breath someone is claiming that 'Kegs are best moneymakers" And then STILL use preserves jars... Cut out the middle man... Kegs are useful for QUESTS and BUNDLES ONLY... Everyone always ignores the fact that Kegs take longer... and AGING takes too long to be viable at all. Sure you get a BIG PRICE increase.... But compared to the time spent WAITING, no, that's not even close to making up for what you could be selling. I prefer a constant steady increase of money rather than a whole bunch of time NOT getting the money from the product just to get what equates to EQUAL or LESS overall just to give them stars.
Dig in the dirt in the mines where the duggies are. Also kill the duggies. They have a chance to drop ancient seed artifact which you take to Gunther in the museum. Ancient fruit seeds an rare seeds are 2 separate things. The rare seed which grows sweet gem berries and takes 24 days to grow(less with fertilizer) is sold by the traveling merchant Friday and Sunday
If you have a Seed Maker, you can try your luck with a few crops. There's a slight chance for you to get an Ancient Fruit Seed per crop. I recommend using any multiple harvest crop, as they easily regrow.

If you use pressure nozzle's on your sprinklers you only need to take up one crop space
if you got pressure nozzles unlocked, you also have access to deluxe retaining soil, wasting 0 spaces like in the video.
