Two opposites in terms of fighting style - Frasier was an in your face brawler type, whilst Ali was a longe range fighter, more scientific even, at least in his prime. His fight with Cleveland Williams in November 1966 was astonishing, and a hint of things to come. That sadly got cut short due to Ali losing his licence to box, because of his refusal to fight in Vietnam. Lost the best boxing yeare of his life during the layoff. This is what made Ali the Greatest! To rise from that Smokin' Joe Frazier left hook in three seconds is astounding! Then to win a decision in their rematch when Ali was Champion and to make Frazier retire after the 14th in their last bout, is more amazing!

So many do not realize that Ali only had two warm up fights before the first Frazier fight. He did not have a fight for three years and seven months yet had to fight Frazier filled with ring rust. Ali had only two warm-up bouts because he was in such huge debt fighting the US government over the draft issue. In the second flight, Ali had plenty of time to warm up and you saw a different fighter. Let’s not forget that after the layoff Ali was a different fighter, his legs were slower, etc. If Ali fought Frazier in his in his prime he would have danced the night away and won a unanimous decision in their first fight. Come to think of it we never saw Ali in his prime did we? He was just entering his prime when he was suspended from boxing. No boxer in history could beat a prime Ali as he was just too fast. Like Sugar Ray Robinson said, the first thing that goes in a fighter is his legs, the second thing that goes is his hand speed and the last thing that goes are his friends. The reason why Ali is the greatest of all time is because even with diminished skills, he cleaned up the heavyweight division during the golden years of the heavyweights throughout the 70s.

Bud, Ali was never beating Frazier that night…. No one was. Not mike Tyson, not George Foreman, no Lennox Lewis. No one. Ali was primed and ready. It was a close epic battle. Ali legit was 8-7 on rounds up. However he lost on score due to the 11th and that beat down he got in 15. Round 15 by today standers would be a 10-7 round for fraizer. That was bad. A hard knockdown early, and a total onslaught from Fraizer the rest of the round. Ali had little to no output. I think he landed two punches that round on Fraizer. Frazier landed 20 plus.

@@RockstarrclarkeFrazier winning that fight was a fluke, he was enraged against Ali because of personal reasons and was out for blood. Usually Ali wins over both foreman and Frazier after a difficult fight. The next two fights prove that it was a fluke. Foreman curbstomped Frazier within two rounds and Ali knocked out foreman after heavy damage, not going down once, coming out if retirement and being out of prime, there is a reason Ali is the best boxer of all time.

Tyson stated that Ali look like a model but he was vicious like a Tyrannosaurus Rex. Tyson said Muhammad Ali would drag you out to deep water and drown you. I can't beat that man no effing way!

IMO the only thing about Ali that was truly the greatest ever, was his Granite jaw, he could obsorb, and endure more punishment and beatings than any fighter ever. He literally wore the greatest punchers out but eating punches all night. Always winning the last 30 seconds of every round. He was almost impossible to finish, broken jaw, bleeding kidneys, nothing seemed to bother him. Unbelievable poise.
