A'ja Wilson is the GOAT of the WNBA. And Angel Reese has been mentored by Wilson. It's interesting that A'ja Wilson and Angel Reese #1 and #2 rebounders. Reese said she's just thankful to be playing against the best player in the WNBA. It's gonna be fun to watch.
Why is Angel Reese responsible for a team loss or win. It's a team sport. Angel has already proven herself, and the A'ja Wilson is the best player in the WNBA right now. They both will be fine.
If she get a double-double on this game, I'd be really impressed..I expect Wilson to put her foot down and proclaim "I'm the MVP here, and don't you forget it." It's interesting that A'ja Wilson has mentored Angel Reese and that they are #1 and #2 in the WNBA in rebounds. This gonna be fun to watch. Reese pinching herself, playing against your idol.
Going from Nylissa Smith to whoever is guarding her from the Aces is going to be a big difference.
Also doubt she is gonna get those easy foul calls. Credit to Reese for knocking the FT down but thats how she got to that total PTS wise the last game

I think that Angel will be fine, but I doubt the Sky will win. The main difference between Reese and Wilson is that Wilson has a jump shot.
This is going to be the true test of whether she can keep her double double streak going. If she can get a double double playing against A’ja Wilson, she has a good chance of breaking Candace Parker’s streak, lol. That being said, Reese can learn a lot from Wilson (the same way that I feel like CC can learn a lot from Sabrina). Hopefully she’ll grow from this game even though I don’t expect Chicago to win.

Angel has incredible BB IQ, she will play on injured ankles (like last season)… but this I’m gonna give her some grace on… her body is not developed enough to defend Aja yet…

The footwork is on different levels, I’d be shocked if she can keep up with Aja at all.

Yea. Angel is about to face the WNBA's apex predator: Aja Wilson. She hasn't faced a player of Wilson's caliber, and Wilson brings it from everywhere! Angel has to stay out of foul trouble vs Aja Wilson, and that's my biggest worry. if she does, and she's allowed to play her game vs Aja Wilson, I say Angel has a good game, and maybe even a great game. Angel will be ready though. her mindset, her mental toughness, is what separates her from that of other players.
I'll keep saying it. It wasn't that Smith couldn't defend Reese it was because she didn't. Big difference. It will be interesting to see how she does when she's actually being defended and you're right. AW will dominate AR. you can count on it.

Aja Wilson is dominating everyone. She is going to eat AR alive. This could probably be the best thing for AR
Angel Reese has an unorthodox playing style that could give A'ja problems. Reese's offense is to crash the paint and heave the ball into the air as soon as she is touched. If no foul is called, she often gets a rebound padding her OB stats. BUT often a foul IS called. Reese uses this unorthodox technique to get defenders into foul trouble and to get to the charity stripe. Out of all players in WNBA Reese is 6th in the number of free throw attempts at 86 FTA. She's shooting FTs at around 76% so it's a great technique for padding her total scoring and slowing down the other team's offensive play. These shots look ridiculous, but IMO Reese never meant for them to go in and she could care less if it lowers her shooting percentage.
You pretty much nailed it. I hope she eventually improves her footwork and get a decent mid range shot because flinging the ball with no chance in hell of going in definitely has it's limits especially against a great player like Wilson. That style of play is a page out of the James Harden school of shady offensive techniques because he has a tendency to try drawing the foul instead of actually trying to score and that drives me crazy all the time. You can clearly see when a player isn't fully committed to scoring. He has the nerve to get upset when the refs don't give Harden the call. Therefore, players should put more of a diligent effort to get the and 1 instead of just trying to draw the foul.

Wilson is the best player in the league, she’s a mismatch versus everyone. Reese shows up and battles every match but no one can handle Wilson so it’s not much of a knock if Angel as rookie can’t.

Grabbing rebounds and playing defenses two different things people got to remember that
18 rebounds against a shorthanded Wings team currently the worst in the WNBA. Then 25 points against Smith who thinks playing defense is just standing in one spot with your hands in the air. I have to admit, watching Reese get a beatdown by Wilson might be a fun game to watch.
I got Aja with 34 and 11 game and I got Angel with a 15 and 15 game
Cardoso will be guarding A'ja more than Reese will.
This is going to be interesting. I wonder if T-Spoon puts Cardoso on A'ja because she knows Reese isn't as much as a presence in the post. And Reese can easily contain Stokes.

Will they even matchup on each other alot? A'ja is gonna match up more on Kardozo more than anything. When they played the Mercury BG was on A'ja most of the game. I also think the Aces like to play A'ja at Center most of the game. Aces are going to beat them pretty good though. They are an allstar team and they have too much on the perimeter. Chelsea is gonna do her thing and all they really need is for Jackie Young or Kelsey Plum to go off.

We not gone really see what angel is made of just because she playing Aja. Angel already proved herself in this league. Reese also has Cardoso to power the point Do the Aces have twin towers? I don't who is supposed to guard A'ja but I don't want to see A'ja being knocked around and hit in the head like she was earlier in the season. A'ja shoots a lot from the midrange and puts up a few 3s. The Aces are kind of an elite team but they struggled without Gray. And even the elite teams can lose to a team like the Sky or Fever or even Mystics.
A'ja finishes with both hands and she's left handed. I agree this is going to bring in a lot of interest. We'll see how it develops. Aces may knock Angel around trying to stop her from getting a double-double.
Aces have another big, she’s 6’3 but she does slim to nothing, she’s alright defensively, but nothing offensively.
They are definitely elite, they are back to back defending champions and with GRAY being back , they seem to get things back on track.

Angel isn't a number 2 pick: does not post defend. Does not shoot the 3. Does literally nothing that Cameron Brink excels at.
If you think the number 2 is a rebounding 40% shooter under the rim, then that's low-balling the players in the WNBA.
Cardoso and Cameron Brink are actual obstacles in the low post that prevent scoring. Angel is a wing that needs to get a shot outside of the paint to even reach her potential. She is getting bailed a lot of the time by refs not calling her for offensive fouls when she pushes others to get rebounds. She is getting whistles for non-foul shot attempts.
She is a very bad post-player and should put in the time to improve her shooting beyond the rim. If she does that, she could be a great wing hybrid. You can argue about her being the 4/6 pick though. But Edwards is a better player than her right now. Jackson is actually a legit offensive starter.
Lol this post screams clear bias towards Reese. Reese is undoubtedly the second best rookie. Neither brink or Cardoso were doing anything similar to her. She’s not a bad post defender like how you are acting, she’s not a wing, she’s already one of the best rebounders in the league, why in the world should she become a wing… makes no sense. She’s literally rated as one of the best overall defenders in the entire league. Rebounding and defense is her bread and butter, any points she scores on top of that is just icing on the cake. No one expected Reese to come into the league and average 13+ per games, she surpassing all expectations.

Angel isn't guarded half the time. She wasn't even guarding the Center when Cardoso was injured. She was hanging around the wing slot.
If you put a post threat on her, she can't stop them. Put Aja one on one against her and she's toast. She can't stop a 6-6 player. Big Boston pushing her around. Literally anybody bigger than her at 6-3 gets eaten up.
Angel needs to work on spreading the floor so she can shoot that shot.

Jones had more issues with dumb foul calls than Angel herself.
Thomas was ejected after manhandling Angel for 3 straight possessions in a row, without any real issues. Angel stood no chance against Thomas.
They played an injured Dallas team.
And they played Atlanta and Fever a lot.
I believe that besides Smith (who is probably the worst defender at her position), I don't think Angel really had a great head to head against those post players.
I would have to look back at the numbers for the facts. I just know that the pattern was basically Angel gets shut down for half of the game or 3 quarters. Goes on a small run, randomly. Nothing else happens. She had two good games so far this year.

Because she held her own against of number of those players, those players you named are going to get their stats regardless, that’s just what great players do. She played very well against probably the 2nd best player in the league (Breanna Stewart), she frustrated her a lot, had her playing out of sorts, and even drew a few offensive fouls from Stewart. And this is coming from a liberty fan, Stewart was forced to play in the pick and roll game instead of the post because she wasn’t getting good looks against Reese in the post. 2 good games? Once again you are box scoring watching likely, most of her game doesn’t show up in box scores, defense, hustling, switching onto guards and holding her own, switching onto centers and holding her own. There’s a reason she has one of the best plus minus stats on her team. Her team is so much worse when she’s off the floor
In all realness Angel has fight in her she not going out without a fight so even if Aja give her the work she will still give Aja a hard time, one thing that Angel has is Defense thats her best asset at this time to be honest. She has stolen the ball basically from every position in the W so I think she will be fine
