This must be a very recent change at KDP: Only 3 categories are allowed now (June 2, 23) under the Kdp help - Amazon, store and product detail page - report issue with Amazon categories (The only category related option) it says “ We are currently launching changes to help you choose three Amazon store categories for each book based on primary market place during set up. While we’re making this experience available to all authors, we are no longer accepting request to add or update categories…” 😢
Hi Dane, just wanted to thank you as I tried this on my new book and it actually ranked as the #1 new release in a category . It was for a shot period of time before the feeling was awesome 😀 .. I guess I should ran Amazon ads also to keep it there. . I can vouch 100% for this technique
Just great stuff! It seems like the whole ranking an Amazon is borderline gaming the system. I have now spent weeks researching how to get my book ranked on Amazon most are borderline dishonest. It seems like to get the best seller status you would sell the most books for an extended amount of time not an hour but like weeks or days or months to get that status. But I'm finding even international bestsellers are getting ranked number one giving away all their for a couple of days to ranked Amazon doesn't distinguish between giving away books hundreds of books for free for an hour and be an international bestseller doesn't seem right to me
I used this technique and it worked perfectly. My book is #1 but I don't have the best seller badge yet. How long before the badge appears? Do I keep the badge forever or just while the book remains #1?
Please be aware that KDP will no longer do this. I just tried it and they said they stopped doing this now that we choose our own categories during set up.
This absolutely doesn't work. I sent them my category n they told me this. The category paths you requested aren't currently available in the Book Store. We're unable to manually add these categories, since book categories are automatically mapped based on the Book Store category selected during publishing. Please select categories that already exists, and reply with this information so I can add them for you. Then why is it all over youtube that one can add extra 10 book categories?
