Interesting and timely video.I have the same locomotive. I cleaned it and it runs w ell for being 50 years old. But it runs too fast. So I was considering a motor swap also. Thank you very much.
@@ericjohnson3746 this little guy runs with very low voltage. Not enough power to run the light. If I give it more power, it runs fast and the light works.
Good to know. Thanks for this. I came across a mid 1960's completely sealed atlas train set that has this engine. The engine runs great but the controller doesn't work. I'm being cautioned from a local legend old timer that it may not last based on their history on the engine. We'll see. Bit it's good to know its possible to switch out the engine.
Every time I see you take apart locomotives, it gives me more confidence in myself and y limited abilities.
You can do it!
Nice job, thanks for sharing. Dave
Thanks!

Yes, it’s not too hard to do.
This will fit the original rivarossi motor case?
Yes, it’s a bit longer, so I extended the case ( white parts in the pack ).
@watchtrainsnow1099 thank you, very nice
