I recently played Detroit: Become Human and people told me I should give the other Quantic Dream games a go. So here we are!

I just have to say... congrats for handling the part at 1:43:24 like a champ! when I first played this game I actually failed that part and I´ve seen alot of people that also failed at that part so congrats for getting through that part without any issues!

This was a pretty revolutionary game, for the time. I’ll be honest - it did impress me, for the first 5 or 6 hours - I was convinced I was seeing a new genre of game and that we’d be playing games like this for years to come. And I do still like aspects of this game - I really liked the IDEA that the game carries on, no matter what happens, but it doesn’t pull that off as well as I would have liked (props to it for trying though and putting genuine effort into pulling it off).
But I wish they had put some effort into the voice actors for the adult characters - “OriGARmi killer”? Come on. Surely someone should have asked the VA to do that line again.
I heard the VAs were French? Considering that, they did well I think.
I agree about the voice acting, but for you other point: we DID get a new genre out of this. The Walking Dead series, Wolf Among Us, Game of Thrones, and many others by TellTale Games, Life Is Strange, Fire Watch, Gone Home, Amnesia, Soma, Outlast, and many many more.
I felt this way about Life is Strange when it came out, I thought it was the best game I'd ever played and I just loved it. Looking back after having played other games that did the same thing, but so much better, like Night in the Woods, all I think abnout is how 'cringe' and out of touch the writing is, the incredibly shallow and one-dimensional characters, all the 'filler' content, and how much it over-relies on shocking moments (probably to get people to ask RUclipsrs to play it for reactions). It was a pioneer, and I'm probably going to replay it again some day, but it really hasn't aged well in every respect.
To be fair, LiS did some things really well, too, like the cosy atmosphere, the choice of music, and how incredlby well, for the most part, they handled Kate's sexual assault (sort of) story arc, and I stuck with the series for a long time, but yeah... Don't think I'll be getting their newest one.
@@Coffeepanda294 I think people need to appreciate games like this that revolutionized the gaming industry, of course it’s not going to age as well as time goes on because graphics get better, voice actors, sound design, character development, etc. but games like Heavy Rain and LIS paved the way for this gaming structure and allowed others to expand and do it even better. For the time this came out this game was exceptional.
The voice in Beyond is no pun intended beyond better than heavy rain. The more i play this gamr the more i see some totally not realistic or cliche things like with the drug dealer he had a gun pointed at ethan and still ethan does a uno reverse on the guy. Or when he asks Maddy what's that pills she's giving him and takes it before she says anything lol or the part with Scotty when the old man is killed 2 minutes passes for them but from our perspective only 3 frames passes and Laura is looking directly at his way there's no way she wouldn't notice him leave or hear a noise of anything happening. Also it takes me forever to "like" Blake, like being the operative word ar first he is very cliche but then by the end he actually feels like a character and starts to have real impact in the story which i like. I don't like that ethan is so trusty to madison but i guess we needed to have a romance but it was too rushed, i mran not them going at it but thr family together in the end i wish we could have seen Ethan recover and what the closure with his ex wife we never see her face again, not that i care really but only Ethan knew about the kidnapping and not the mother too?

The supermarket scene is just soooo amazing...as if whoever designed that scene has never set foot in a grocery store. No glass protection at the fish counter? Live chickens? On a _shelf???_

yeah I wish. but it was quite the long path to go.. maybe Ethan wanted to save time and just crawl through it.

You are driving me insane getting through this electricity! I've never shouted at you on my screen before but... you were literally right there!!! 🤣 Sorry about that LIZZ. I just had to get it out of my system We can carry on now lol. I still love you... even though you can't see the obvious clear path that's right in front of you... arrgghhh!!!!! OoohhhhKaaayyy... I guess it wasn't out of my system after all. It's gone now. Let's get those clues, buddy 😄
Hee-hee-hee this is why I shouldn't put RUclips on in the middle of the night (well, it's 7:25am but that's the middle of the night for me) when I've just woken up from a nightmare. I hope you don't mind the little ninety-five-percent-joking paragraph above. I hope it amused you but I think it's mostly therapy for my nightmare-addled head. Please forgive me.

I can't, my arm is injured, I need to play slow paced games like this for a bit, and once it's healed I have a ton of games to play. Older releases like Miles Morales can wait.
OK, so, there's someone I suspected from the very beginning, but they seem *too* obvious to me.
I've never played this far in the game or watched any playthrough so this is pure speculation on my part, not any kind of knowledgeable spoiler. I'm gonna hit return a few times to hide the rest because you might not even want to see some other person's guess. I absolutely respect that attitude and I really don't want to colour your own thinking in any way if that's how you want it. My spoiler-free guessing is down below. Ignore it completely if you like.
The shrink seems *way* too obvious, doesn't he? He's the only likely suspect in my eyes, but it would be more than just a bit of a cliche if the shrink did it. Anyway, I'm thinking Ethan went to see a shrink after what happened to his first kid. Ethan blames himself. The shrink is weird about testing people to see if they deserve to have kids, or are willing to protect their kids, or something like that. He was the Origami Killer all along and Ethan has just walked right into his hands. He is somehow affecting Ethan through, hypnosis or something, causing Ethan to have the blackouts and to suspect himself. Perhaps he wants to quit killing and is setting up Ethan to take the fall by making him confess that he has another personality who is the serial killer.
Didn't Ethan say he was depressed for a while and the blackouts started later? His shrink said he has been having blackouts since he lost his first kid. I wonder if his blackouts started after losing the kid, or after he started seeing the shrink. It would be a massive cliche, though I just can't see it being anyone else we've met so far. I don't think it's Ethan; the FBI guy is a bit dodgy but I don't think it's him either; Madison I'm guessing has been sent by the origami killer to help Ethan as long as he's trying to follow instructions; he wants Ethan to have a fighting chance to succeed.
That's all I've got so far but there's obviously nothing solid. I've only seen as much as you have so it's just speculation. I'm really wrapped up in the story though. I wish I'd been able to cope with the controls and the silly quick time events for stuff like standing up, for goodness's sake! 🤣 I'm really looking forward to every episode from now on. Bring 'em on!
