    Just to add most of the Mosin variants that Finland made and used had a nose cap that mimic the nose cap of a Mauser 98 type rifle. I owned a M-27 and M-39 Finn Mosins and at a distance you could easily confuse the two if by going on just the nose cap/ bayonet lug set up. The only thing is that other than the M-27 rv- Cavalry Mosin Nagant all the others used a straight bolt handle and not a bent one like most of the post WWI mausers used.

    Models look great. In K47 the Finnish can take the majority of Germany's Rift tech too, nothing makes a Finnish army cooler than some werewolfs running around in the snow.....

    Just getting started in Bolt Action myself and while waiting for my figures (not finns, yet), I have watched many battle reports to learn the game. And as a finn I love to watch you play Finnish army in your battle reports!
    I dont know if you already know (does it divulge in the army book?), but kaukopartio translates as a long-range patrol. They were small elite units whose mission was to infiltrate deep behind enemy lines and do recoinnassance and sabotage. Very dangerous and very deadly!
    And not to mock your pronunciation, but when I first heard you say kaukopartio, it sounded like some italian unit.😅

      Hi thanks for getting in touch! I did not know that, I presumed they were named after their commander the same as the Sisi squads, it's a cool fact to know! Hahaha yeah I think I need to work on my finnish accent, it's coming out as Italian for sure! What army did you go for mate?

      @@scholaprogenium7276 I am my local miniature groups only one into Bolt Action at the moment, so I decided to buy two starter armies so I can invite people to try it. I landed on german grenadiers starter and soviet starter armies. Asymmetrical armies, as one can be heavy on elite and armor and second heavy on massed infantry. There is also the painting, that I can't wait to get started!
      Some titbit about the sissi squads: Sissi translates roughly to guerrilla, so sissi squads were more like guerrilla fighters. They are a veteran special unit in the Finnish army (even today), operating also long times behind enemy lines engaging enemy. One of the toughest training regime in the army and they spend a lot of their time in the woods.
      I find google translate to be very good to learn pronounciation on new or difficult foreign words. You should try it.

    You can combine German and Russian winter plastics in great coats etc as they use both there kit too, either from German supply or taken from the Russians.
    Always loved the Finn's in Bolt Action, great themed rules and play style.
    Shame there Armoured support is so limited.

      Yeah if I'd had enough Mossins I'd have probably given it a go, but then I'd have to model a load of green stuff fedoras too hehe. Yeah I love the finns, they are so different to my other armies, really fun. The armour is a shame but then again...perhaps the stug is all you need! Plus they have the bt-42 which is an insanely good vehicle and doesnt suffer from unreliable. It's based on a bt-7 retrofitted with a british qf4.5 howitzer, in the war they scored precisely 0 tank kills even after the germans supplied HEAT ammunition, and the crews hated it...in bolt action it is a 8+ tank with a medium howitzer for 140 points...very tasty!

      @@stillunsure7630 First off, love that vehicle, I didn't know about it so appreciate the link! For friendly games you could always use the BA vehicle design system to include one in your force. Looks like it would be 110 points; 70 for a light tank, 45 for the heavy AC and -5 for being open topped! Obviously the rules arent widely used but with a good friend why not?! www.boltaltaction.com/resources

    Curious why you chose the Blitzkrieg Germans over Winter Germans with the coats?

    • @scholaprogenium7276
      @scholaprogenium7276  7 месяцев назад

      Excellent question. Finnish units specifically requested and were issued with shorter great coats than appear on the german winter kit. Most of the images and documents I used as reference showed them in M32 kit. Winter Germans are a fine choice it's just down to what compromise matters to the individual! Technically you could do british kit as the finns recieved over 125k units of this, but it was used with reserve units etc. I went down a rabbit hole you might say! Haha
