  • In this video, I am shooting slide film for the 3rd time in an attempt to rectify my 2 other failed attempts. I am shooting on the Nikon F5 + 24-120mm f4 lens. This is also my 2nd go at Ektachrome e100. Make sure to Like, Comment, and Subscribe. Enjoy!

You did the right thing by exposing for the highlights. In high contrast scenes that does mean the shadows will be inky. There's no way around that given the lower dynamic range of slide film, other than shooting in more even light.

Slide film has a very narrow dynamic range, proper metering is key, and High contrast scenes will always have you decide whether you choose to lose detail in the blacks/shadows or in the highlights.

The color is very cool, well done photographer

    Love your videos!

    Fantastic and amazing video.

I've been wanting to try, but the high price of slide (also, my lab would have to cross-process slide), and the unforgiving nature of it keeps me at bay.

As an idea you might consider doing a video of Provia (or E100) with studio strobes. Seems from looking around you'd be one of the only videos in all of RUclips. People are scared to death of strobes with ANY film and slide film?? Petrified!!

I just shot 2 rolls of E100. One in D.C. and one in Baltimore. Yours look very different than mine. I wonder if you should try a different lab just too see if there is a difference. The lab I use offers uncorrected Noritsu scans. Not saying these are bad shots they just look like your lab did a lot of color corrections.
