    You might want to pull the vacuum for awhile longer. There maybe dissolved or retained moisture (or freon) in the system usually tied up in the oil, it takes awhile to out-gas. When you are pumping down an elevated temperature helps speedup the out gassing (park it in the sun) Just a note -a slight lose of vacuum indicated on your gauges maybe do to the out gassing. Just want to send a quick "thank you!” for mentioning the AutoZone loaner tools. I used a slightly different fill method than you show (using a can tap connected to the yellow gauge hose rather than than the " can topper " thing) but I was about ready to just deal with having a shop do this because I didn't want to shell out the cash for the (hopefully) one-use tools 👍

      DO NOT DO THIS... the A/C stop leak will work once at home. But if you bring it to a proper garage and they detect the stop leak they will need to DISMANTLE AND CLEAN the entire system and all their components . You'd be looking at a bill of $1000 or more.

    Wow, you are the only video out of dozens that shows if the compressor is not spinning in the beginning it COULD kick in once the pressure is high enough. question for you, I purchased a 2012 vehicle in the winter, now in the summer, i realized the ac is not blowing cool air, checked and see that the compressor clutch is not spinning so I added a can of recharge and could simultaneously hear hissing below the compressor. Is this something that stop leak could fix or should I replace the compressor? thanks

    • @JonnyDIY
      @JonnyDIY  4 года назад

      sounds like a large leak coming from compressor. You could inject leak dye to make sure its the compressor, but most likely it is. Unless you see a green leak trace on any of the hoses coming off compressor or near it

    Does the air-conditioning In the car have to be empty before you seal it? I am assuming you use the sealer before you recharge it?

    • @JonnyDIY
      @JonnyDIY  4 года назад

      It works better when the system is completely empty and vacuumed out but I have used the sealant on systems half or partly charged. Just don't use too much and make sure you run the air conditioning for a while after you put it in because those sealants have been known to clog up certain parts on the inside of the system ruining entire systems.

    • @JonnyDIY

      Vacuuming out all the refrigerant makes sure to get all the moisture out of system so the stop leak will attack the right spots and not clog things up

    Loved this video you did a great job. So, I have a leak behind the dash (evaporator guessing). It is going to cost me way to much to pull the entire dash ($1300) Old Chevy Prism (Corolla) car has no book value.... Anyway, the system has been open for about a year. So, I am sure the oil is all out of it. How would you add oil is it necessary if the system is open but components have never been changed. I definitely want to try some stop leak just to see if I can get it working for a little bit.

      Ohh wow awesome a Prizm. My gf had a 93 lsi Prizm that almost got 50 mpg! You really shouldnt have to add oil, just find and fix the source of leak and you'll be good. If worried I think they sell cans of refrigerant with oil added or even little cans of oil that you just put in low side port when recharging 👍
