Bro this video is a straight vibe. love the smooth riding and the sharing of your background and all the reasons why this is the right bike for you.
Thanks for watching man! Check out the channel I have a ton of fe501 stuff!
@@DualsportDisport picked up a 2021 fe501s yesterday. You pushed me over the edge to go with it :)
also picked up a best dual sport tuner--dear god the thing needs it out of the gate flare outs galore.
@@guywheeler4225 congrats man that's awesome! You'll love this bike! I just watched a video of a guy who went like 70k mi on his engine without doing anything. That tuner will really help! Have fun on that thing dude and reach out if you have any questions
@@DualsportDisport Thanks bro, I'll definitely hit you up with questions.
Such awesome bikes man . I can’t quit thinking about getting mine
Couldn't stop watching. That scenery is something to crave for if you're from San Diego like me. I got a 2020 501s too. Mods to come
That's awesome man I used to live up in Livermore, ca. Bought this bike so I could ride all year out there on trips.
Check out my.other videos on my channel I show what I do for mods and even motocross racing. Have fun on that Husky!

You guys need a holiday in the UK, have a look at the TET Trans European Trail. You can ride from the White Cliffs of Dover all the way to Scotland on trails like that.
Man this is the do anything and everything dual sport bike
I know where your at, houtzdale PA.
I ride there all the time. Picked up a 701 husky this year, haven't taken it there yet. Great place to ride.
I'm in the exact same boat. I want a tri-sport bike. I've been road riding ever since then (and before that) but the last time I was riding MX or trails was 15 years ago, never raced and not that good but wanna get back into it a little bit just for fun as well as trails and some hoolagin road rides.
I just bought the 2022 FE350s. I've ridden 450's most of my adult life and had a hard time deciding between the 501 and 350. I'm 50 now and felt like the 350 was the right choice. I'm hoping I can pull some fire out of the 350 by doing all the mods. FMF, ECU, Smog Delete kit and anything else people can recommend.
I really think that is just the best all around bike. I would have bought one last year had I been able to find one. Im ok with the 35hp, I just love how smooth and quiet they run from factory now instead of needing $1k in stage 1 mods to run right
I have an 18 FE 350 that I absolutely love. I throw it on the back of my camper van and travel all over with it. I put on an FMF slip on and a JD tuner. I've read so many reviews and have decided to leave the bike alone. I have bark busters with my blinkers in them. And a lot of protective equipment. Radiator guards shark fin etc.. In the summertime it's nice to ride on the streets. Whatever you do you made the right decision. Enjoy
Love this bike. I put on a SEATCONCEPTS after market because the stock on the 19 is REAL UNCOMFORTABLE. I have short legs so I lowered it and added a bigger sprocket for the back and a new one for the front ( to tall gears for the bush I found) and new chain...awesome bike though
Greatest single track dual sport made.
I traded my 21 FE350 for a 22 FE501. On the 21 models the suspension was way too soft (all of the FE range)
But for 22 they upped the spring rates and they are way better. They don't blow through the stroke under hard braking like the 21's do.
Just fitting a FMF slip on to either bike makes a ton of difference. Coming from a MX background myself the 350 just didn't have the grunt for open flowing trails even with a Vortex as well. The 501 on the other hand is a beast ! Can't wait for Vortex to send back the remapped ecu (from the 350) for the 501.. Great video mate ! I just subbed because of it..

I also have the 2022 fe501. Power option Australia. It is amazing to be brief. Suspension shock spring upgrade to suit my weight. It tears up the track and easily absorbs trails and a dream ride
@@richmondpd Did you do all of the mods to your 350?? If so, what do you think ??

Great video, thanks for posting! Why appease the trolls by repeatedly explaining where you are riding. It's none of their business!
I have a 2022 te300i and I love it
Now I want this bike
Sweet video. Helps solidify the fact I can choose between a husky or ktm 🤷🏻♂️😂 but I’m leaning more towards the husky the more I watch your videos!
Definitely can't go wrong with either bike! Personally I like the linkage system so that's why I went with the husky. Thanks for watching. I have a ton more content on the FE501 if you check out the dual sport playlist. Subscribe if you like what you see, thanks again.
I have the same bike bro I lowered a gear in the front sprocket to a 13 tooth and it is a torque monster you don't have to do much to it
Change the audio playback to mono... Right ear sounds like you're recording through a waterproof case, left is lovely and clear ;-)
I'm looking into getting a fe 501 and I'm really interested in the suspension dilemma I hear about with it. I am coming down from 2016 701 which was stolen the early morning after Xmas and instead of being depressed about it im taking the opportunity to assess what I need in a bike. The 701 was an amazing bike. I didnt have any issue with it, except one thing. The extra weight. I could keep up with any rider but it was exhausting if I didn't have perfect runs or lines and ended up off the trial or dropping the bike. The 501 seems to be the answer but now I'm interested in starting racing. I'm 25 years old and can't get into it like I'm 14 but I want to shoot my shot while still being able to explore which was my main goal with the 701. In the video you said you took some shocks off an sxf could you go into more detail about that? Were they revalved or specificly modified for the 501? I will likely aim for a very similar setup you have done with having swappable parts.
Sorry to hear about your 701 but nice to see the glass half full. So what I did was I think different than anyone else. I had some extra parts off my old 450 and I purchased the bike based off that. I started looking at this 501 and was thinking"this thing is pretty much like my ktm except for with turn signals". So my setup i went with was 4cs forks and shock off a ktm450. They bolt right up and I also had prior work done to them. I ride the track a decent amount and still hit big jumps so I needed a setup that didn't bottom all the time. The motocross valving is way stiffer and feels great. There is only a 20 pound difference between the bikes so if you factor in variations in body weights also it's not In my opinion enough to affect it negatively. By using the extra shock and fork, I'm able to have 2 setups. The stock setup for if I'm doing alot of mild riding and the moto setup for when I'm pushing it. I also have 2 sets of wheels with different tires- and a 19" back rim for moto, but I hardly ever change from the stock rims. Most of riding talent is the rider, not the bike. But this setup for me was more practical than doing a 900 dollar revalve and then if I ever sell the bike I can keep my stiffer setup for my next 501 haha. Feel free to checkout my channel. I have a video on my suspension setup here-

Also have a few more vids on setups and also some of me racing moto with it.

@@DualsportDisport what year was your old ktm? I could be over thinking it but different year bikes use different shocks and have different weights. Im sure as long as I account for the extra weight of the 501(if any) from whatever years bike shocks I can grab itll be fine, just grabbing knowledge on it before I dive in. There is a guy parting out a 2019 ktm 450 sxf close buy so I might grab those shocks. I absolutely believe in 80% rider 20% bike but I'm hoping this next purchase will be a long term and I'd like to get it dialed in especially if I'm going to race and bottoming out sucks lol I assume as long as I stay with a similar year ktm or husky shocks from a 450 that is set up for motocross itll be fine weight wise and a night and day compared to the soft trail shocks that come stock on the bike. Thanks for the info. I threw down a subscribe and I look forward to seeing some rides from you.
@@2WheelApe awesome man thanks! So mine was a 16' and the shock was the exact same length. Forks too. I notice a 100% improvement on mine and am loving it with the moto setup.
Really nice video
The Explorers would blow right thru the stroke-
And it hurts….it really really hurts.
Lol. Feel your pain man.
Nice Vid bro. Thx.
Haha yeah definitely hurts with those stockers! Glad you liked man I have a bunch of other videos on the channel too about modding with the 501
Also where you at in PA? I grew up near lake erie (in cincinnati now) and my uncle lives in Lewisburg. We used to hunt in the old coal mines in clearfield county.
Close to Clearfield. Thanks for watching!
Классный обзор, полезная информация👍👍
DD, could you compare the 19’ 501 differences to the 22’ 501 changes?
Please, thank you 👍
Great review! I’m on the fence. Heard a lot of complaints about the big bikes flaming out in hard enduro. Man, I wish we had places like that to ride in Ga…!! We did until everyone up north moved down here 😡😡😡
A fuell controller fixes that no doubt
Never had flame out just idle it up some....Beasley Knob,Whissenhunt, etc to ride.
You mentioned you are back into racing, are you racing the 501s ? If so, what are your thoughts on racing the 450 FX Husky VS your 501??
Yes the fe501s.. racing it in moto +30 and it does great..can't speak to the fx450 but the the 501 feels just like my 16 ktm 450sxf I had.
Thanks for watching
@@DualsportDisport Thank you for your thoughts on that. I appreciate your wisdom on it. I am leaving to Edmonton in 2 hours to pick up the 2022 FE 501s, its a 7 hour drive from here but we lose one hour due to the time zone change. I am sold on it. Thank you. :-) Exciting, my friend. :-)
Might be a dumb question but I just started riding, wondering if there's an easy way to make it less powerful until I get up to speed. Feels like the front wheels want to come off the ground all the time.
twist the throttle less
What mirror are you using?
I am using a mirror from double-take mirror. I can't remember the model but it's the smallest one possible to instill being street legal. Thanks for watching!
Its gr8 to have a purose built bike but to have one that can do it all ,more or less ,,SWEET,,, got a 13 BETA 520RR/S,,,, GETTING A SET OF S/M RIMS N TIRES ,,TO REALLY GET THINGS SERIOUS,,AT 60 ITS NOW OR NEVER,,gotta say should of done some more research ,,n got a BETA,,
who'd you buy that side mirror from?
Doubletake mirror it's a great little piece to make it legal.
@@DualsportDisport thx :)
No problem! Glad to help out
@@DualsportDisport got it ordered. I'm getting lost on figuring out a tire. Have any DOT approved suggestions?
@@guywheeler4225 Kenda Trackmasters. Cheapest dirt tire out there, I race motocross with those lol
How’s it on road going 65?
With the tires balanced it's really not bad. I have dirt tires on it though so I don't go riding 65 for more than like 30 miles usually. Thanks for watching. I'm running Kenda Trackmaster currently
@@DualsportDisport thanks man! Trying to decide this or 701, I do so much road riding.
@@SickBikeDude Hey check out my other video here on the FE 501 long-term review! It'll definitely help your decision making.

@@SickBikeDude I have both, they are very different bikes with different purposes. If you're on the road more the 701 feels great. I DO ride it off road a bunch but it's a lot heavier. The 501 Is way better off road, and vibrates a lot more than the 701.
the 5hundys have all the power you need at the twist of the throttle...no comparison....
My fork lock broke the first week I had it
How the hell do u find ur way BACK ?? :o)
I have a 2018 Husqvarna 501FE My 4: broke the first week I had it
What is your for 4: ?
I went w/ the 701. Love the bike, but, it can get a little 'big' when on trails. I went w/ the 701 so I can hit highway if needed. (In Colorado) So....as can leave the house and go adventure for a few hours and come back. I love my dirt bike...but the 701 opens up more adventures
Excellent choice on the bike. I feel like in 10 years that'll be the direction I go.(701 size). We took a trip out to Colorado in May dirtbiking and it was awesome. Hit up places like fruita desert, rifle, and up north by meeker in addition to Utah. Thanks for subscribing!
@@DualsportDisport Wish I had more $$$....cause I'd also like the 501. :) I'm on the front range side of CO, so stil haven't been to those areas...yet.

I find very funny the sound efect that you play when you are being demonetized :). Stupid policy.
How sweet would it be to have ktm build a dual sport 500 2 stroke fuel injected. Puhhhhhlease ktm puhleaaaaase
All these vids are promoting the best dual sports but they don’t have any
Herb he is. I never thought to change my forks so my bike doesn’t work for so called “enduro”
