    Now this is how an oil change's supposed to be done, torque specs, proper cleaning thumbs up.

    Also worth noting that if you are doing the 1st oil change, it is quite normal to find visible chunks of metal on the magnet and screens. As the bike goes through the 1st few oil changes, you should see visible metal particles reducing as engine is wearing in.

    Rocky I would crack open the oil plug to create a faster oil dump before opening the 13mm nuts.
    Also, change those gloves constantly before handling the filters going back in.

    Nice job bud... great to know the torque values too. My fe 501 has been laid up for 2 years now.... will be dusting her off soon and this will be the first job before taking her out again. Thumbs up and a sub 🙂😎

    6:17. Why oil the filter when you are submerging it IN oil?

    Thanks for the video...gotta do that soon to my 2017 501 Husky. Laying the bike down seems a bit extreme...

    • @Buca24
      @Buca24 6 лет назад +2

      Even when the manual states to do this, you still think it's extreme?

    Just changed the oil on mine, didn’t know I had to lay it on it’s side! I didn’t fill the filter with oil but I still filled the bike with 1.3 liters... am I low on oil now?

    Do not forget to slightly lube the oil filter seal before you push it into the place through 2" of oil! :)

    At 4:29 which way does he turn the bolt? Does he turn it clockwise or counterclockwise?

    • @rmatvmc
      @rmatvmc  2 года назад

      He is removing the bolt at 4:29 so that would be counterclockwise/left.

    I have a brand new 2019 fe 501 with 2 hours on the motor and the check engine light came on. Is that normal as a reminder to change to motor oil after the first ride?

    • @rmatvmc
      @rmatvmc  5 лет назад +1

      I'm not sure if it's still a problem for the '19's but I know some of the KTM/Husky's had ECU problems that would cause that but it's hard to say. Since it's so new I would definitely recommend calling the dealer you got it from and seeing if they know what's going on. In the mean time, I'd even go over all your grounds and check that they're secure.
      Sorry that doesn't help much but be sure to let us know hat you find out!

    Dumb question here.... But can somebody tell me what's the function of the allen head bolt beside the short screen plug ? And why we should not remove it ?

    Well I busted out the tq wrench and set it to 11.1 foot lbs and there is no way that’s tight enough. I understand it’s all aluminum and you can’t get carried away but as much as these things vibrate they would be falling out.

    Do you still need to change the oil so often if you only ride on the streets and not hard?

      Not as much. They say up to 35 hr intervals if doing more adventure riding.

    Hey Erick
    What kind of tires you recommend for the 501???? I honestly hate the stock ones lol, I m more like 90 /10 (dirt/road)
    Thank you and as always Great video man!!!

    I don't lay down the bike, I fill that hole inside the filter with oil and put it back. It does the trick.

    • @aaronmgray

      That may be just fine; but a note to anyone else reading: the official husqvarna owners manual calls for laying it on it's side and 1/3 filled.

      The service manual will give specifics for how often the oil should be changed. They will give a specific amount of hours before very change.

      Not that we have seen. Most people have a set of needle nose pliers or snap ring pliers. They do the job.

    Wait ! They call this a dual sport bike? Change the oil every 15 hours ! ! ! So take this bike on a 3500 mile road trip and change the oil three times !!! So be sure to pack the oil and filters
    along with your sleeping bags and food ... I am impressed with the performance of the bikes and now I know why they are hi performance. HIGH MAINTENANCE !
