The Ultimate KLR650 Off-Road Adventure Setup?
Change driveshaft seal on the transmission.
Great review!!
Over 350 dollar now the tensioner oem
You mentioned about vibration, what did you end up doing to cut that down? Great vid.
Rubber mounted foot pegs and rubber mounted top clamp. Thanks for watching
Promaster 1500...biggest piece of shit I've ever bought. Transmission out at 17000 miles and at 54000 miles
I can't find any diagram on this thing online lol. Very frustrating, was hoping to see something that showed the exact belt layout along with what each component is along the path.
You can pretty much tell just by looking at what’s smooth and ribbed
how did you mount new cam bearings? by tapping them in or pressing?
I believe I pressed them can’t remember
I'm picking up a 2019 FE501 tonight. Been riding a 2014 FC450 for the last 5 years, and am ready for something with a headlight. Been watching your videos while I wait to pick it up. Getting excited.
Awesome! Congrats on the purchase! It’ll be a game changer! Enjoy the content I have some more videos coming soon!
Such awesome bikes man . I can’t quit thinking about getting mine
I’m going to get one of these . I currently have 2019 ktm 450 sxf fe and love it but man these are becoming more appealing to me every day. I’ll keep the 450 but probably ride this more.
KLR is really aren't designed for what you're doing they're designed for just highway street riding and then the occasional dirt road they're too heavy for this off-road single track stuff what you doing what you have is a really good fight design for more of the Motocross than the street writing so you got a great bike there
My KLX 250 is a 2 gallon tank and I go the same distance you do on your 2 1/2 gallon tank
I downloaded all trails and the avenza trail map both of those suck I just stick to a traditional map paper map which was the easiest to follow in my tank bag has a clear cover in the front for maps so all I have to do is look down look at the numbers see the number of the trail I'm on anyways for me I tried those apps they didn't work not one time but I know they work for a lot of people
My question is how do I clean the latch and oil it? I’ve tried mass airflow sensor cleaner and multiple water based oils and silicone based oils and it gets so gunky and I can’t get it cleaned out. Some fresh oil helps it for a little bit but after a single day it’s gunky and rough again. The problem is I can’t open the door from the outside when it’s cruddy, only the inside.
What sprockets you running for track days?
Stock in the front 48 in the back
Exactly in the same spot in my Ducato thanks !
wicked review, talking about it whilst showing it's capability on some easyish trails was great
Your almost as good as the guy in the orange sweater
I watched some of your other videos. You ride pretty good
Here’s what I know… When in the mountains: 1.) never use cruise control 2.) use Tow Haul In General: Only use the gear selector to set the range, not to shift on the go. Change transmission fluid and filter every 30,000 miles because the torque converter is the weak link and can burn the fluid which wreck the rest of your transmission
Can anyone tell me if this unit requires DC current or can work with the usual enduro AC current for lights? Thanks
Is it possible to adjust the cables? I have to really yank on the handle
Where are you finding the idler’s for 5 or 10 dollars??
20 but I got mine at autozone
One of those less crowded jewels. Love kayaking and fishing here.
Lifter's wear out, and depending on the year bad radiator seals. 183k on mine and running good
Brilliant
my left ear enjoyed this video
Ugh, I wonder if my codes just needed reset? Guess the dealership spray painted my tranny, stuck a sticker on it, and reset my codes for 8K-wouldn’t doubt it at all. Such crooks. 😮
Common problem the daylight bulb socket burns/ breakdown causing the bulb to loose.
Where could I buy these lights sockets?
have a ram promaster 2,500 Where do I buy all the belt and pulley parts I am in Miami fl thank you
Any auto parts store should have them. Thanks for watching
2019 ram v6 work with that kind of set up 4x4
Awesome review thank you very much. I’m currently in the market for a 500 XWF from KTM, which is basically the California off-road version of the bike.
Year and a half later, any issues with this headlight? I just ordered one after my first night ride; absolutely the most garbage stock headlight (low and hi) I've ever seen on a bike... Did you use the adaptor it comes with or make your own for fixing the wiring mismatch?
Still rocking it still loving it. I used the adapter but you could unplug the terminals and swap it around
@@DualsportDisport I figure smarter, not harder. Looking forward to getting it installed!
Comprehensively the best review of the bike I've seen. I have a TE300 and a 701 Enduro and thinking about what's next. My plan to merge the two into a 501 has just been cemented. Great riding, and beautiful trails. 😁
Thank you very much for this video. my dodge journey passenger side had similar issue with tapping as described in the video fixed the problem. God bless you for posting this video.
I must be dead inside because I’ve read so many complaints about vibrations on this bike and it’s never bothered me. I have an FE501S and do 150-175 mile days in the desert riding all kinds of terrain and I have no complaints. Stock cockpit, foot rests, seat, etc…. Just balance my wheels and I run mousse front and rear on Kenda DT Parkers. Also ride plenty of single track and on the road occasionally. Will do 80 on the highway no issues
Ive owned several dodges over the years including a 2017 promaster and bulb contact corrosion has been a repetitive problem. I am a mechanic and have learned over the years to ALWAYS use dielectric grease (also sold as bulb grease) whenever relamping. oxidation requires oxygen. Go figure. If the metal surfaces are coated with something, no corrosion. Some folks believe putting a grease on an electrical connection is bad. NOT SO with dielectric grease. I also have a set of miniature files that work great for cleaning the contacts prior to grease. Also white vinegar a mild acid will help clean off corrosion. You can put anything rusty in vinegar for 3-4 days and the rust just slides off. If you have trailer lights Im sure you have encountered poor connections at some point. That connector has 12 volts on each terminal except ground when in use. Rain water on a piece of metal that is energized is bound to corrode. Clean them well and use dielectric grease and no more fussing with bad trailer light connections.
Unreal vibration issues ... expensive sub frame repairs thats all a big turn off. Numb hands feet and butt with pins and needles and a vibrating mirror you cant use. But i still wish I had one.
Even on the 701?
5 years $500 spent on replacing blown low beams at $70/ pair..dodge dealer claims they have never heard of this issue..ya right..first time both went out same time I took it to dealer and $200 later all they did was put in new bulbs..now getting good doing it myself in about 15 min
Ooohhhh please don't make that bike dirty ,go around the water😮 fucking hell ,don't get dirty 😅😅😅
You're a lifesaver, brother. Thank you!
My valve system is mounted on the outside of my lift arms. So every day in the woods I worry about it getting busted off. Also no water proofing on my electric connectors. Josh S
Yea it’s almost like they don’t think we use our machines.
@@DualsportDisport hopefully manufacturer, install them from the factory with factory parts with the proliferation of third function attachments across the market. mine has like 16 gauge wire, not shielded not wire loomed just flopping around
You might have just sold me on this bike. How is it on the highway? I would use it to commute 30 miles to work on the highway.
Just make sure your tires are balanced and you should be good to go!
We had a problem with the passenger side parking light on our Promaster. Turned out to be a rodent issue. We found the harness was chewed and one of the wires was chewed through.
Great video! I used to have an ‘18 FE501 and I miss it so bad. I’ve got a ‘17 FE350 which is awesome, but just doesn’t have the power of the 501.
I just change the bulbs only to find rats damaged the power wire on the passenger side headlight. Hopefully someone can fix wiring. I cannot.
Just replaced my alternator and really didn't have money to get the heater core replaced when my heater suddenly stopped working. I stumbled upon this video while searching out how to replace the heater core. You Sir are a godsend! Tapped that bad boy with the flashlight i was using to light under the dash and just like magic it started working. You have my thanks and gratitude.
Look at all the carbon in that motor that thing needed a CATCH CAN hooked up to it😮...?
