I’m with ya on D2, kind of inner chuckle at those complaining-considering how sought after it was before and around the time the Rat 1 debuted theirs. I really like the look of that Begg! My unpopular opinion is the knife community love affair with the Buck 110 and the Spyderco Tenacious, totally overrated, there - I said it.
Changes I'd make. 1. Replace the back spacer with pillar standoffs. 2. The curved clip makes the knife hang poorly in the pocket and creates a hot spot when in use. 3. The liner lock is too proud of the handle and could be chamfered more. Thanks for the video. : )
Decided to go with the mini glimpse will let ya know. I have zero problem with D2 or most modern steels properly heat treated! Artisan rpm9, civivi 14c & nitro v, kizer 154, kubey D2 all done well and like em all!
Hey Rolls. Nice little knife you've got there. Been looking at the steel series Begg knives for a week trying to decide which model to possibly buy. Think I'll probably get the Bodega. Ltk sent one of the new D2 steel series to be pmi and rockwell tested. It is D2 and the model he sent tested 62hrc. If they are all in the 61-62 range they should perform pretty well. Thanks for your thoughts. Great review.
thanks, a good review. I just purchased the mini glimpse and checked out your video! ....a question.... is the larger glimpse still available someplace? Also, have you heard the Harbor Freight has basically the same knife for $39.00? I may get one and do a little comparison....there is one video on that already.
The larger glimpse has only been available as a custom for a while now unfortunately..that may change though you never know..the harbor freight knife you speak of is a clone of this one..it's legitimacy is questionable to say the least but otherwise I've heard it's well made at least
NOW EVEN BETTER MADE BY ICON HARBOR FREIGHT!!!!! 40$ I paid 30$ with a coupon! And it HAS A LIFETIME WARRANTY!!!!!!! I’m practicing throwing knives again and this is gonna be my go to! I’m already pretty good but I hate snapping the tips off no longer a problem
The issue I have with the icon knife is that it is a blatant ripoff from begg knives/Todd begg- these types of practices are damaging to our economy- you can and should buy whatever makes the most sense to you, but for me I can't support it- thanks for watching
@@Rollshambo yes but Todd lost ownership of the company (being his fault or not) harbor freight was able to license the design and they make it much better than Todd ever did. Plus it’s crazy people are mad about this when he also build “his design” in china
@latindoggy8059 it's your money and your choice, how you choose to spend it is your business..if harbor freight licensed the design from begg knives then that's fine but that part hasn't been made publically clear yet...you don't need to justify to me why you like it I'm just not championing what appears to Be a blatant ripoff
Begg Knives Mini Glimpse ---- shrsl.com/4333f
Always liked the Glimpse design, it's nice to see affordable knives that are actually interesting to look at (aka not 50 iterations of the Elementum)
Without a doubt! The world doesn't need anymore elementums..honestly one was enough😂
The thing about d2 is that getting the heat treat correct is difficult in a mass produced knife.
Cool knife bro liking these Begg budgets have you held the Bodega? Really interested in one of those
The Brothers Begg to differ with each other!😂
Hence Begg Knives as a separate, stand-alone brand.
Love this! Just found your channel and I’m loving your content. Don’t know how it hasn’t come up in my searches before. Subscribed!!
This looks great for 80 beans, the blade is beautiful

We knives did the full size Glimpse and Reate did the mini Glimpse and both the Bodega and Mini Bogie.. Awesome video Sir!!!!

I don't think you can go wrong with either, action on the mini glimpse is just so good🙌🤘🔥🔥
@@Rollshambo went to order out of the non fuller ones looked around nobody has them will wait for them to restock. Not a huge fan of the fuller mini

That's super useful to know..I was wondering what hrc they were getting the D2 to..61-62 is perfect range for this steel, thanks for the heads up
Unpopular opinion : Buck makes a better knife then benchmade at a better price....with better materials...in the USA 🇺🇸
You know what..I'll stand next to you on that opinion😂🙌👊

I love this blade shape and design.
My unpopular opinion is that the Spyderco PM2 should never be called a Para2. It's either PM2 or Paramilitary 2

@@Rollshambo 😂
Man I dig Begg. Good looking stuff.
Just wait till you see some of the new designs they have their team working on...🤐
Now it has the fuller with holes
Unpopular opinion:
-Deep carry clips make it harder to remove from pocket do not like.
-backspacer > standoffs
It's a little beauty
It's not the most Imposing looking design but it's extremely functional, I dig it!
You know what they say about opinions....
They are both fruitful and fruitless😂
