  • In space no one can hear you scream. No, seriously, sound can not travel in space. I learned that from Firefly.
End song is a cover of the Ishimura Shanty that is a hidden audio log in the game. Cover performed by ‪@mewhorizon‬

I think just about everyone I know has said "ya' can't beat a grenade launcher" at one time or another.

I mean, a rocket launcher would be better but I'll take what I can get.

dead space remake looks to be better in every aspect, has taken over much of the "new", then at the time, mechanics from dead space 2 like the new zero-g thing but also alternate firemodes and a little more exploring and stuff off the beaten path, but I am still not sure how to feel about Isaac getting a voice. I mean he also got one in 2, but the story there also was more open and action-y, kinda like with Alien 1 and Alien 2 or Terminator 1 and Terminator 2. the sequels are maybe arguably the better movies, have more action and so on, but they do not grasp the eerie feeling, that "otherness" from the debuts. And I liked that this isolation aspect, this otherness and ability to have isaac being the stand-in character for the player instead as its own entity now contributed to the horror immensely. Apart from that, yeah, the remake is prolly better in literally every other aspect. But I am still amazed also how graphically and in terms of lightning and textures the original Dead Space 1 and Dead Space 2 still hold up today. And they were even past in the days not hard to run and did require top-shelf hardware. still one of the best horror experiences in games the orignal for me. next to other classics like system shock, which also got its remaaster, which I liked as well. maybe that is just nostalgia speaking, but I still probably like the orignals better than the new ones. But in terms of visuals, gameplay, quality of life features and so on, the remakes are probably better. same with something like Half Life and Black Mesa for example .

Thanks for offering up your take on the remake. It's always nice to hear what others think. Personally, I'm glad that both are available to still buy so that way you still have a choice. Unlike some companies that delist the originals when a new one gets released.

    To put things into perspective
I was playing the original before the remake came out, and I found myself laughing more than freaking out(because I had played dead space 3 with my friend who was a franchise vet beforehand, so I went in knowing a lot of the tricks)
And uh...the remake had my heart rate at 500BPM constantly. I was scared to all hell.

The only slightly negative thing I can come with about the remake (and it’s a pretty small nitpick) but I liked the old sound effects for things like the weapons better. Otherwise it improves in every category imo.

Yes. Save for some voice direction lacking (but at the same time kind of being preferable to the original, specifically in regards to how hammond and kendra tore into each other for practically no reason from the start), absolutely EVERYTHING about the remake is better. I'm going to go hard as well in saying that people who prefer silent isaac are weird.
Also, nicole being older is perfectly fine and is more immersive, considering her role as CHIEF medical officer, compared to how young she looked in the original.

Few personal issues. Dr. Klein, Hammond are changed for the worse. Stomp animation ain't that fluid like in DS 2. And that is all that comes into my mind. Ah yes. Necromorphs aint beelining at you as often anymore like in original.

I don't think the stomp animation was ever meant to be fluid in the first game. Isacc is an engineer not a soldier so it makes sense that he'd be slow physically. Now in the second game he's had lots of experience fighting Necromorphs so now he would be faster at stomping. That's my take anyway.

i don't like the changes , the voice actor of Isaac is the new isac , Nicole is suppose to be much younger but looks like she is 50 years old , some of the suits are copy/past from the original very noticeable on the white suit , kind looks pixelated , some necromorphs kinda feel robotic instead of being organic beings , there are some bugs but nothing much , and of course and best it does not need the ea cancerous launcher .

I agree with you on that last one. The original Dead Space is drm-free on GOG. We should petition EA to bring the remake over there too and do away with the slow EA client. :)

The Nicole thing I kinda excuse as she’s a senior medical officer… the years of school alone would make her like 28? Then all that time in the industry to become a “senior” in her field. Idk 50 seems a bit much but 35-40 would make sense to me for a woman at her point in her career.

@@jasminecluney1769 she looks nothing like the original , the original was made in 2008, and they decided to make the new model the same as the voice actor , they should have made the remake as if it was 2008 age...just look at her

@@tumado7304 idk, it's creative license. I think it makes more sense being older in the remake. But that's just my opinion.

No it's not...none of the originals charm is present at all

      @BenKii  6 месяцев назад +1

Not sure what you mean by "charm". If you mean the scares in the game, there's quite a bit more unexpected scares in the remake.
