Tamiya Clod Buster Orange Soda Converted to Retro Class Racer

- The local hobby shop introduced Monster Truck Racing last month. I participated last month with the Clod Buster in the Sport Mod class with dual 17t motors. I was quick to find that a Clod Buster with a stock chassis is not a Sport Mod truck even with upgraded suspension and steering. So, I decided to downgrade Orange Soda to the Retro Class and swap out the dual 17t motors with Tamiya Silver Can 27t motors and 17 tooth pinions with adjustable motor mounts. The results are a properly classed Clod Buster that performed much better. For Sport Mod, I have a new Axial SMT 10 Raw Builders Kit. That build video will be out soon.

It is a lot of fun. I need a lot more driving practice but thats ok. The SMT came out nice. I got it built and its test run was my warm up run before its first race. 😀

Was wondering where you run. The Motors, Gearing, and Axle extenders you used are not legal for Retro where I am. If you still have trouble with servo the Savox 1231sg works real good. Good luck with the SMT10.

The motors are just Tamiya 27t Silver. Cans. What size motors are legal for you?
