The night light thing is always an argument. Couples who sleep together kind of use it as a way to say they are pissed off. I have a night light in my bedroom and my ex used to always unplug it. Then when I got up at night to use the bathroom I had to turn on a light and she yelled at me. lol

The "Sleeping like a log" joke is easily explained. The logs sleep so well that they remove all distractions to be completely asleep, including small sources of light. So it's just enforcing that the logs remove anything that can wake them.
