Elton John and Eminem performed ‘Stan’ together at the Grammy’s in 2001. The FCC and the public tried to ‘cancel’ Eminem for his homophobic lyrics, he said the ‘f word’ an awful lot and Elton John stuck up for him. That’s where the career Russian roulette line comes in. They’ve been friends ever since. Elton even had a big part in Eminem staying sober after his overdose. Eminem even gifted Elton John and his partner a diamond encrusted ‘cock ring’.

Back in the days everyone was trying to "cancel" him because of his outlandish lyrics and especially his supposed hatred for the gay community. That's why when he surprised everyone by doing that colab with Elton John it was very risky for him. Keep up it... Loving the reaction.
It should be known Elton John is his sobriety sponsor and a close friend of Marshall.
Marshall is not a hatred filled person.
Not to mention Elton John isn't the first name you think of when you think "rap". So for him too it was risky. Eminem wasn't a safe collar for Elton either.

The line about "dorm room doors of THEIR HINGES" begins the forbidden rhyme scheme of rhyming with "oranges"... "their hinges"...syringes"... "I'm inches"... thats why it sounded like a random mess for a moment.

People used to say you couldn’t rhyme anything with “Oranges” so he made a whole bunch of words and slant words to rhyme with it.
There’s an awesome well known interview where the interviewer tells him there’s nothing that rhymes with orange and Em does a lil freestyle on the spot using orange lol

It was Elton John who was playing Russian Roulette with his own career coz he teamed up with Em. But Elton didn’t care he liked Ems music and respected him and Elton was one of them who helped Em get clean. It was Em who called Elton and it was Elton who got Em into rehab. They’ve been close ever since.

The career suicide thing is meant for both him and Elton, because Elton defended Em when he was accused of being homophobic for his lyrics which could be risky for his career and image as a gay man, while it was risky for Em as a hip hop artist to collab with someone like Elton John (a gay man known for ballad songs, not exactly thr usual feature on a hip hop song lol). As others have mentioned, Elton mentioned in an interview that Em gifted him and David (his husband) two diamond cock rings on a velvet cushion for their wedding lol Elton was also a mentor for Em through his journey of sobriety.

I don’t know if he is saying possible career suicide for him or Elton or both. Eminem was getting a lot of backlash because of his lyrics people were accusing him of being homophonic. Elton defended him and he also was somewhat of a sober coach when Eminem was trying to get clean. They are still friends 😊

Just a fair warning the song "Marshall Mathers" from the MMLP is extremely over the top with full homophobic slurs etc i genuinely really dont think you would get any value out of it whatsoever. It's a great song for the diehard fans who know the 90s and 00s backstory and beefs but it gives no value to anyone else i assure you. Cheers for another great reaction with this one!
