FINALLY someone who shares my opinion. Johnny Sack was such a snake idk how Tony could remain friends with him. Little Carmine being the moron he was could have been a big advantage for the Glorified Crew.
I think he did good with the Tony B situation he just hesitated a little too long. Like he knew right away Tony B did the hit on peeps. He could have made plans then but he didn't and then it escalated. But outside of that he handled it the best he could. Now the Vito situation that's one where he messed up royally how he handled it. Definitely lost points with his crew on that one.
lost point with his cews regarding Vito ??? not at all.. Aside from Patsy who didnt give a damn about the whole thing, they were all disgusted by Vito. Phil would wage a war on NJ if the matter wasnt settle. The crews wouldnt accept to die for an homosexual, a dude they all rejected.
I'm saying he should have ordered the hit on vito and not allow Phil be the one to do it. That's how he is losing points with his crew cause it shows that he is going to let another family hit one of their guys when their family could have done it just like how Tony did with Tony B.
You're forgetting the key revelation Johnny Sack made to Tony prior to the FBI raid: Phil was ultimately just using Billy's death as an excuse to climb the ladder. He wanted either Consigliere or Underboss, and was using Billy as an excuse to leverage for it. Phil was a lot of things, but he wasn't totally unreasonable at that time. Not yet anyways. He became unreasonable once he tasted power, but prior to this he was more realistic in his expectations. He knew that in that life, any one can get clipped at any time. He had to have been somewhat prepared for this possibility given the civil war in NY between Little Carmine and Johnny Sack. I still don't consider Phil's wrath being 100% genuine as much as I view it as his bargaining chip to make up for doing 20 years in the can for losers like Doc Santoro and Rusty Milio, with no reward awaiting him at the end of it as he anticipated.
Now that is exactly how I was thinking about it. I think Tony b would've been great to win the war against NY. I mean let's be honest ny has been poking at Jersey for a good while cuz they know they can. The war was not preventable. Killing Tony b only held it off a year or so. That's where I get that if Ralph was around and Christopher and Tony b , those guys alone could've took down NY.
3:36 the part of the whole saga that a lot of people seem to forget. One of Tony's worst ever ideas (no way in hell was Johnny ever going to agree to a power sharing idea) that that lead to multiple deaths, both directly and indirectly. Tony HAD to kill or give up his cousin to make up for that blunder alone. Anyways, to answer your question, yes, Tony made the best of a bad situation. But who knows what would have happened if the Feds hadn't raided Johnny Sack to effectively make Phil the acting boss of the family and divert his attention elsewhere. My only criticism of your video was that you didn't include the best scene from during when Tony is trying to decide what to do about the situation and visits Paulie's house unannounced and finds the painting of Pie o My and himself made up to look like a general. The effect clearly spoke louder than words.
I feel like Tony S was checkmated in this situation. I don't think he had any other choice but to either eliminate Tony B himself or let Phil get to him. He could have let Tony B stay in hiding and hope he was never found but that was a big gamble and could have caused Tony S alot of trouble down the road with his own family and worse, with Phil and NY. That all went south anyhow later on but that's a whole other story.
That's part of the great tragedy of it all. A couple of years in hiding, there wouldn't have been anyone in NY left to give a shit about whatever happened there
Tony did what he had to do in this situation. Tony B basically gave him no outs here with what he did and left Tony Soprano to deal with the stronger and angry New York Family as well as his own family being pissed that they were at risk financially and their well being with New York because of Tony protecting his cousin. Which they knew deep down he would probably not give them the same protection if they had done the same thing.
Tony Blundetto personified the leader ideal. Crazy but controlled. A man of action, the kind of guy who could take the Sopranos from a small fry outfit to greater heights. Tony tried very hard to maintain a balance with New York, realizing perhaps too much how much more powerful they were in reality. Blundetto would have blasted his way to prominence or an early grave. Tony recognized this and it certainly factored into his decision to kill him.
Nah. I thought of it when rewatching the series. Here's the scenario. Tony has Sil get some goods together (guns, explosive, and unmarked van). He calls TB and tells him the plan, he'll send Chris with the van and goods to the farm, he'll call Johnny and give up TB's location. When Phil and his guys show up, they'll go into the house. TB blows up the house and mop up any stragglers if they are still outside. Next, stage is TB phones Tony and threatens to kill him. He goes back to Jersey and takes a shot Tony (hitting him non-lethally). Tony then puts a price on TB's head. TB hides out at a safe house in North Carolina and waits for Chris to bring the money he promised. TB hops on a flight to Sicily to hangout with their "cousins" overseas. They find someone of similar build to TB, kill him, and places his body in the van. Chris heads to IL, find a small town, pay off the coroner to say that the body is TB. Tony can easily talk Johnny down, it was Phil who placed so much pressure on Johnny and Joey's death. TB's punishment is ultimately exile, after faking his death. Maybe show up from time to time to do a clandestine hit or two.
@@masterzombie161 not really. It was never stated if the Lupretasi Family had connections overseas. If you fake his death, then no one would be looking for a dead man. Don't forget the rat Tony killed back in S1. He was literally hiding in their backyard, upstate NY, and no one even knew he was there. Definitely could have gotten away with it.
Tony's hands were tied. Phil was out for blood, he even threatened Christopher's mom. Tony knew Phil wasn't gonna stop until Blundetto was dead, so Tony made the difficult decision to do it himself because he knew Phil and his guys wouldn't have done it cleanly.
He defied a direct order on a couple different occasions, not to mention operating out of pocket/unsanctioned against a stronger more powerful family and putting everyone else at extreme risk, only because of the chip on his shoulder about going to prison and tony being his cousin. Had to go.
I'm addicted to this channel, man. It was supposed to be just one or two videos to keep me from getting bored while I worked. But RUclips kept Recommending more.

Idk what tony should have done, but I just want to say that your ability to sneak in the best lines from the show into your script is top tier. with love, Jamaal Ginsberg
Tony S said it himself: they’re soldiers, they take orders, they obey. And if you’re going to accept those steaks 🥩 then you gotta accept those consequences. The sit down with Johnny Sack was to tell Tony S to deliver Tony B, end of story.
7:24 I’ve always said that animal would have absolutely taken Phil considering how obvious his approach to the house is. Animal had a reputation as a top hitman hence why NY hired him in the first place so Phil would have definitely lost that fight. So yeah, Tony saved Phil’s life weirdly enough.
Tony Killing his Cousin was definitely Better then Letting Phil Have Him for Tony B anyway. I think it would have been Better for Jersey\ New York Relations if Tony would have Handed Him over. but then again at The end of the Series Phil was just looking for any Excuse to Go to the Mattresses and because of the size disparity things probably would have ended up the same way they did. Tony B screwed up the Hit. he probably should have tried to get Closer instead of wasting all of his bullets from so far away. what's Sad about Tony B is He was so close to making it away from That Life but His children had to make those comments and make him Feel as if He had no choice but to attempt the Hit.
As I think about it, Tony needed to take Blundetto out swiftly before anyone could have said a thing or done anything, quick, fast and decisive. To wait and let things fester was his biggest mistake. The fact that he waited pretty much set the winds of war into motion later down the line, Phil wanted this guy badly and procrastinating only made things worse. If Tony was waiting he may have well gone to war and tried to take Phil out as soon as he could.. A real tough spot for Tony no doubt.
Yup. Glad u mentioned how Tony floating the power sharing idea? Got everyone at the table not named Soprano killed! Because he blames his idea on Angelo. That always bothered me.
Have you ever seen Sam Peckinpah's The Wild Bunch? That would be a fantastic and rich source of content for future videos, as it's an amazingly layered and nuanced movie.
I always thought it was hilarious that Phil shows up by himself to a house where a mobster is hiding out for his life. Absolutely zero guarantee Phil comes out on top.
Same thing with Vito Spatafore Tony was hiding him when Phil tried confronting Tony about his whereabouts Tony refused to cooperate and tried hiding him that caused Phil to find him first Torture Vito with that merciless beating and raming a pool cue up his ass If Tony would have took care of it Vito would not have suffered and Tony would not have lost the respect from New York and his own Crew. Most importantly there would not have been the war with New York that resulted in the death of Bobby and the coma of Silvio and eventually the demise of Tony. Tony is to blame for what happened because he failed to act when he was supposed to and he failed in the leadership role as Boss of his family
If he would have took care of Vito right away instead of telling Phil to mind his own business Phil wouldn't of ended up doing it himself and things would not have happened the way they did and business would of continued as normal and Bobby Silvio and Tony would have probably not been Killed The Vito Spatafore situation was the beginning of the end of the Soprano family
Yes. He had to. Phil would never let it go, and he'd never get a green light on Phil. Maybe if some financial opportunity came up that Phil was obstructing with his vendetta, New York would get fed up. But that's something impossible to predict and would be ridiculous to plan around.
Tony made the best decision And played perfectly Even though it killed him to hurt his own cousin If he had Of given into Johnny sack He would be perceived as weak And they will keep pushing until they decidedly get rid of him all together
I had a friend come home from prison and misjudged what type of time he was gonna be on. I was and still am so off. Like a whole new guy. I respect it too. Tony S didn't respect Tony B's decision
Sammy The Bull Gravano got into a situation like this. He was a captain at the time and one of his soldiers killed a Lucchese soldier. He got caught and was tied up in the basement. Sammy sent a few of his guys over to confirm the story. The Gambino did not lie and told the guys what happened and why. But then the Gambinos left him there to be beaten and tortured to death. Sammy was fucking furious!!! He told his men that they should have taken the guy with them because he was a Gambino so his own family would have handled it with honor! The fucking Luccheses with Gaspipe being one of them tortured the poor guy all night!!! My point is, Tony was 100% correct to do it himself or anyone else in his family. When you start torturing people for breaking rules, you are no longer La Cosa Nostra! You are Al Qaeda or ISIS.
Listening to this video made my mind do the strangest connection: Between this and the death of Dumbledore in Harry Potter. There is a discussion in the seventh book taking place before the event where him and Snape discuss the pros and cons on who has to kill him. They know Draco is ordered top do it and Snape has to at least make the attempt of helping him as to not come off as suspicious (which is also something he's promised Draco's mother to do), however they both know that this will deeply traumatize Draco and ruin his life, but not allowing his plan to succeed would lead to his death as a punishment to his father's failings. The other Deatheaters in Draco's team are psychopaths who will likely torture him, so Snape has to put him out of his misery.
If Tony made an error it was not having Phil clipped sooner. His major flaw as a boss was allowing clearly dangerous, volatile people like Richie, Ralph and even Chris poison the well. Like he tells Ralph he's known for having bad tendencies but he empathises because he has them too. He lets himself be surrounded by the toxicity that he can relate to, and not just when it comes to associates either. He's always too late to recognise what a threat they are while we the audience sees it a mile away. Empathy might be the only positive emotion he was capable of, and ironically it's his biggest weakness.
Tony should got blundetto to do the Jackie Gleason mambo impression for Phil as compensation, GET OUT GETT OUUUUT. Thats how it should've been solved imo.
You mention this being a moment people use for an example of Tony being a bad boss. Can you do a video discussing how bad of a boss Tony is or isn’t ? I guess in comparison to other bosses in the show in ranking them to see where Tony lines up
best he could in a bad situation...tony b should of remained a civilian...he knew by gunning down made men from new york it could bring pressure on tony in jersey....regardless if he thought he was going to get caught or not...theirs always somebody lurking unawares and you can never really be sure of no eyes....if anything..tony b should of wore a disguise or drove a different type of car than ditched it....he screwed up by allowing it to come back to him in one way or another....tony b was missing that mob life...and those envelopes....
The "animal Blundetto" actually makes sense if you think about. Tony B goes ballistic and kills high ranking mafia members which causes huge problems for the gang and Tony is forced to take care of the situation. Just like a rabid animal who starts attacking people and you need to put him down, you don't want to do this and you feel bad about it but you have to do that, just like how Tony had to kill his own cousin. It's a very interesting parallel.
The main error to me is leaving a dead body on a porch for New York to stumble upon. They are in no position to go into the unknown not knowing. I know it's rural but wtf...anyone could of rolled up on that before Phil gets there. If I was New York I'd be more pissed now Tony sent Phil into that situation
Tony handled it by the book. Bosses are supposed to handle their own families, not hand soldiers over to other bosses. Tony B broke the rules and his boss carried out fair retribution
I would have liked to see Tony S give up Blundetto's address to Phil, but waits around to ambush him. Tony B kills Phil, Tony S goes to pick up the body but grabs Phil's gun and shoots blundetto dead. He calls 911 to have the police discover the body and spread the story that Phil and Tony B killed each other.
Tony should have took care of it right away before things got as bad as they did Tony had a bad habit of letting things get worse and waiting too long to make decisions
If Tony Soprano hadn’t killed Tony B, Phil would have eventually caught up with him, and Tony B would have been tortured brutally before Phil eventually killed him. Tony Soprano had no other choice.
Tony should have gave up Tony B. and turned his back. Yeah he felt shame for what happened to Tony B. and it being his fault. But as we know of any crime family activity blood isn’t always thicker than water and Tony B. stepped out…..totally unacceptable.
In my book Tony Blundetto was the most stand-up guy from Soprano family. Angelo was practically his only friend, we've seen how they like each other and after Angelo got killed he does the right thing revenging his friend by shooting his murderers, all other guys wouldn't dare to to so

He could have made plans then but he didn't and then it escalated. But outside of that he handled it the best he could. Now the Vito situation that's one where he messed up royally how he handled it. Definitely lost points with his crew on that one.
Long John Silver, maybe
lost point with his cews regarding Vito ??? not at all..
You're forgetting the key revelation Johnny Sack made to Tony prior to the FBI raid:
Phil was ultimately just using Billy's death as an excuse to climb the ladder.
Whatever happened there…
Turns out junior "went south" aswell!!
That's part of the great tragedy of it all. A couple of years in hiding, there wouldn't have been anyone in NY left to give a shit about whatever happened there
That’s not checkmate, that’s zugzwang. Tony S had an obligation to do something, but they were all losing outcomes
@paul-dq6lk I heard you were in the muff!
Based on what happened to Vito Tony absolutely gave blundetto the easy one way put
Hell no. He was even more impulsive than Tony.
2:48 - my guy just said it was some VIOLENT DYSENTERY in them ranks!!!
I didn't realize the ranks were suffering from diarrhea in those scenes lol
Always with the scenarios
But would Johnny not figure it out or least suspect. He would have lost a top guy
i love this senerio, because phil is the cause everybody on the show died.
Issue is that people know who he is, so even if he were to run he would forever be hunted, much like Fredo they were dead man walking.
Had to go.
Steve's character always has to die, it's a standard clause in his contract.
I'm addicted to this channel, man. It was supposed to be just one or two videos to keep me from getting bored while I worked. But RUclips kept Recommending more.
I think Tony did the best he could. He obviously didn't want his cousin to die, let alone tortured to death. I think Tony did right. BTW, I still love your sense of humor. Cracks me up every video.
Love the delivery of your videos, the inside jokes and references. So funny and informative!!
Idk what tony should have done, but I just want to say that your ability to sneak in the best lines from the show into your script is top tier.
with love,

"... slipped on a shinebox, or something..."
Omg, you make me laugh!
Unless he had a mastermind plan, it was either kill him or go to war. I don't think he made a mistake, its just a fucked up situation all around.
All these cineranter Sopranos videos are fascinating. Just subscribed.
Fantastic video as ever, Varsity athlete worthy!
It cracks me up in his videos every time he says "dysentery" instead of "dissention". It's as if the crew had all gone to Taco Bell for dinner.
"More is lost by indecision than by wrong decision."
-Carmella Soprano
This never would have happened if Kim could pronounce "West Caldwell."
Thanks for the great work.👍
Same thing with Vito Spatafore Tony was hiding him when Phil tried confronting Tony about his whereabouts Tony refused to cooperate and tried hiding him that caused Phil to find him first Torture Vito with that merciless beating and raming a pool cue up his ass If Tony would have took care of it Vito would not have suffered and Tony would not have lost the respect from New York and his own Crew.
How can you say that ANIMAL’s name so often? Your heart must be made of stone!
Have you done a video about all the Jasons in the show?
I love this channel like cheese of the Radiator.
Yes. He had to. Phil would never let it go, and he'd never get a green light on Phil. Maybe if some financial opportunity came up that Phil was obstructing with his vendetta, New York would get fed up. But that's something impossible to predict and would be ridiculous to plan around.
VIDEO IDEA! “Who told Phil that Tony calls him ‘The Shah of Iran’?”
Good analysis - forgot about the intricacies of Tony's Rubix cube....I did not know Mercedes made them.
Tony made the best decision And played perfectly Even though it killed him to hurt his own cousin If he had Of given into Johnny sack He would be perceived as weak And they will keep pushing until they decidedly get rid of him all together
I love the non-stop references, it's like having a Sopranos version of r/okbuddychicanery in my ear
Your Carlo is spot on! Lol Hilarious 😂
Shine box reference - well done. 😂😂
I had a friend come home from prison and misjudged what type of time he was gonna be on. I was and still am so off. Like a whole new guy. I respect it too. Tony S didn't respect Tony B's decision
Tony B was lucky to get taken out quickly.
"Dysentery" in the ranks hahaha ... Good one!
He uses that in practically every video😂😂
I think no matter what Phil would always be a problem - he had a 20 year chip on his shoulder.
He should’ve had him take out Phil before he took out Tony B
It was actually the most cleverly cunning move that Tony Soprano did as boss. Setting Feech up for parole violation was the second most clever.
HOW CAN I BUY TONY'S SHIRT ON 0:55 ?
You pay for it I would guess. Probably would have to pay some tax on it as well which can vary depending on where you are from
Tony should got blundetto to do the Jackie Gleason mambo impression for Phil as compensation, GET OUT GETT OUUUUT. Thats how it should've been solved imo.
Great video but do some more Carlitos Way videos that movie doesn't get enough analysis or reviews
You mention this being a moment people use for an example of Tony being a bad boss. Can you do a video discussing how bad of a boss Tony is or isn’t ? I guess in comparison to other bosses in the show in ranking them to see where Tony lines up
This is the real ending to Nucky Thompson.
best he could in a bad situation...tony b should of remained a civilian...he knew by gunning down made men from new york it could bring pressure on tony in jersey....regardless if he thought he was going to get caught or not...theirs always somebody lurking unawares and you can never really be sure of no eyes....if anything..tony b should of wore a disguise or drove a different type of car than ditched it....he screwed up by allowing it to come back to him in one way or another....tony b was missing that mob life...and those envelopes....
Vito loved the pool cue.
Richie, Feech, Animal B - everyone who gets out of the can gives Tony agita
The "animal Blundetto" actually makes sense if you think about.
Tony B goes ballistic and kills high ranking mafia members which causes huge problems for the gang and Tony is forced to take care of the situation.
Just like a rabid animal who starts attacking people and you need to put him down, you don't want to do this and you feel bad about it but you have to do that, just like how Tony had to kill his own cousin.
It's a very interesting parallel.
Great analysis and narration of animal blundetto and parade float Tony uncle Johnny
Tony and Tony take down the whole NY crew period!
Tony handled it by the book. Bosses are supposed to handle their own families, not hand soldiers over to other bosses. Tony B broke the rules and his boss carried out fair retribution
Slipped on a shinebox😂😂😂
I would have liked to see Tony S give up Blundetto's address to Phil, but waits around to ambush him. Tony B kills Phil, Tony S goes to pick up the body but grabs Phil's gun and shoots blundetto dead. He calls 911 to have the police discover the body and spread the story that Phil and Tony B killed each other.
I believe his full title is That Animal, I Can't Even Say His Name.
How bout some videos on Sons of Anarchy???
I still can't even say his name.....
They didn't agree to keep Phil at bay, they agreed to whack him. "These people you run into want to be boss, huh?"
46 years old he was just a kid
Tony should have took care of it right away before things got as bad as they did Tony had a bad habit of letting things get worse and waiting too long to make decisions
If Tony Soprano hadn’t killed Tony B, Phil would have eventually caught up with him, and Tony B would have been tortured brutally before Phil eventually killed him. Tony Soprano had no other choice.
I like the angle of giving up Tony then tipping him off. Resulting in Tony B becoming bait to whack Phil in self defense.
I'm pretty sure we are recreating the discussions they had in the writing room.
i loved the way carlo 😂😂😂😂😂said "hes got gooo"
Tony should have gave up Tony B. and turned his back. Yeah he felt shame for what happened to Tony B. and it being his fault. But as we know of any crime family activity blood isn’t always thicker than water and Tony B. stepped out…..totally unacceptable.
Tony could have sided with the Lupratazi family against Johnny Sack. That might have saved his life.
I love these vids for the quips lol
In my book Tony Blundetto was the most stand-up guy from Soprano family. Angelo was practically his only friend, we've seen how they like each other and after Angelo got killed he does the right thing revenging his friend by shooting his murderers, all other guys wouldn't dare to to so
Angelo was trying to play the Game of Thrones when he wasn't strong enough. He wasn't really innocent.
@@BM-wh5qk Offcourse he wasn't but he was better then most of them there. Unlike Carmine Jr and Rusty he was reluctant to go to the war with Johnny Sack, offcourse ,he and Rusty arranged Joey Peeps hit to avenge Lorraine and Jason but after that he said they could avoid all that, having a sitdown. And on the meeting with Tony he said that he don't want stress anymore, that he wants enjoy his family after so many years inside.
I would have gave Tony b information where Johnny sack side of the argument was and let them duke it out
If Tony S. had given Tony B. up, Tony B. would have been tortured and admitted killing Joe Peeps. This would mean that Johnny Sack would have known that Tony S. lied to him about being with Tony B. at the time of the killing. Tony S. was also protecting himself by not giving up Tony B.
YES. Unfortunately. Phil Leotardo : U Ever had Somebody U ❤️ 💀in Your Arms"? ..Well wait & see if i cant Arrange That 4 You"? 😳. Phil : "No More Of This😡! "SCRAPS"..I Dont Have(Leave) SCRAPS📎🖇 On My BOOKS"📒📌🖋💀💀💀🗑
