Which one would you pick up? Moment, Freewell or Polar Pro/Peter McKinnon?
No brainer after all your hard work on this video if someone goes & picks other than Freewell
Agreed, the Freewell looks like the best option.thanks for the info, another great vid. 👍
Freewell hands down. The Polar Pro is strong in branding and marketing but not worth it comparatively speaking. And Moment has been kinda disappointing the last 4 months or so I’m a little out on them for now.
I saw a lot of this crosspolarization of the polarpro on the potatojet vlog "Essentials for FilmMakers ON the GO!" at 0:22 , 0:52 , 0:54 is in all the vlog really hard.
F R E E W E L L ………. for sure !!!! Would be great if you can make a video of different cameras and different slog how to color grade and make it looks like was film with the same camera
Fantastic video, Dunna! I know how hard these types of videos are to make and I really appreciate your approach and method here. Respect, dude. Great job! 🤓👍💜💯
Thanks man! I thought about you a handful of times while I was making it. Usually I was thinking “how the hell does he do this every damn time! It’s so much friggin work!” 😜
I just saw this entire 22 minute video as an Ad before your ND filter video
as long as people just shoot the right shutter speed I don't care what one they buy 🤣
Good guy moment
Amen! Also, sorry I didn’t catch the lens cap trick until someone told me in the comments. Now I get why they’re wider 🤦🏻♂️
heck yeh!
Wrong, you can't do that on video without doing a mess with your footage
Hey Dunna,
SPOT ON, One more thing Freewell is the only manufacture among 3 of them we have our own production facility so we can offer reasonable prices without sacrificing on quality.
Thanks
Thats great info! Thanks so much for making an awesome product at an awesome price!
that's why I just bought a Freewell 2-filter vnd set :)
@@Frankvillage720 how are those filters? most of the Freewell review I can find seems to got theirs free from Freewell. I want a more unbiased review.
@@MangZhu
Freewell is killing it with all their filters. I've got (and recommend) the 2-5vnd, 6-9vnd, cpl, and light pollution. If they had taken out mist-like filters before Moment did their Cinebloom, I would've probably gotten those too.
But your customer service is horrific and that's just as important especially when you're charging people $100 + per filter. Thought I'd buy a freewell after watcching this video but its clearly cheaper for all the wrong reasons
You’ve convinced me, I need them all
Haha that was really the end goal. Everyone use my links to buy all of them!! 😜
😂😂😂
😂😂😂😂😂
After scouring video after video, you're the man for having the breaks w/ description on the video timeline! Helps me get right to what I need.
Thanks for running these tests and being exhaustive about just about every consideration. Creators and testers like you are why RUclips is so valuable to creators. Thank you, and subscribed.
The moment VND is designed specifically to allow you to use your lens cap - that's why it's so big. Works perfectly with my cap for my Canon 24-70 f2.8. I have the moment 2-5 stop, and the picture quality is GREAT. They boast no vignetting down to a 16 mm focal length, but I don't have a wide enough lens to prove of explore that. The case is cool, but it is pretty annoying to have to unscrew every time. Great review man!
Oh interesting! Testing now...Okay, I see this. Thats kind of neat! I'll make a little update in the description! Thanks for sharing. I agree that the quality is good, I didn't see any vignetting on any of these filters down at 17mm but the cross polarization is a real problem on all of them still. If it weren't for the freewell filters being even less expensive and better performing, I'd probably be more inclined so suggest the moment filters to people looking for a cheaper option than the polarpro.
Killing it Dunna!!!
Thanks a ton! It means a lot!
Loving the organization to your youtube set up. Such a time saver and stress reliever to be able to go right to the answers to my questions.
Dude, this is soooooooo helpful!!! Thanks for comparing them all!
That’s great to hear Sid! Thanks for watching dude!
Thank you for this comparison test! Helped me make my decision to go with Freewell! So far loving it!
Your time stamp helps us a lot.. great comparison.. Cheers!
Glad to see how well the Freewell stand up towards the PPVND. If PolarPro would just offer a non-signature series option, id be all over it. Nice work on this!
Hey Dunna, great video. I'm using the Freewell ND today on a shoot and wanted to test the ND strength and you were spot on. It's 2/3rds lighter.
One of the best VND filters comparison ever made. Huge ammount of work but one can see the professional hand. Thank You.
Thank you so much!
thank you for doing this! the vast amount of information in such a clear and concise video is incredible! and like many others, i am now most interested in the freewells!
Thanks so much for saying that!
Thank you for your energy!
Best ND filter comparison video out there. Thanks for putting this together, Dunna!
Thanks so much Sophia!
Thanks for putting in all this work on such a detailed review! So helpful!!
Thanks for watching and for the kind words!!
the comparison i was looking for. thanks man you helped me a lot
Ordering the freewell today. Thanks for such thorough review.
My pleasure!
FINALLY! I’ve been waiting for someone to make this video
Sorry I took so long 😂😉
Not gonna lie, you just talked me into getting Freewells
Links in the description 😉😜
@@dunnadidit but which one is good for daylight vlogging? 2-5 or 6-9?
If your lens is f2.8 or wider and you might want the 6-9.
@@dunnadidit thank you, I'm shooting on the sony 16 to 35 f4
Rios Family the 2-5 might be the right choice then.
That was an incredible video. Great job and thanks. You confirmed my choice with Freewell.
Great vid Dunna! Very thorough and extremely helpful. Appreciate all the effort that went into this one! 👍
Thanks for saying that Stephen!
I have both of the Freewell vnd and I have no regrets! Love using them!
Hi. I’m considering them. Just worried about the Color cast. Plan to use on long exposure photography. 6-9 stop. Any input?
Thanks for being thorough! I'm going with the Freewells.
Thanks for the review. It came in super handy. I've been looking for a review of the moment ones since it was released. Keep up the good work brother.
Thanks so much for watching!!
Exactly the video I was looking for! Thankyou. I was saving up for the PolarPro but I think I will be settling on the Freewell.
Thanks so much! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Respect man! Love your honest review, helped a lot!
Excellent Reviews!! Thank you 🙏 Greatly Appreciate it!!!
Excellent review Dunna! Very thorough!
Thanks so much!!
Thanks for the comps.
Honest and detailed, I like your reviews man I need to subscribe.
Cheers mate, very useful and thorough test. That helped me make a decision.
I realized I am a nerd when the magnetic lens cap on the FreeWell made me "ooohh ahhh" and the fact it quite literally matched the Polar Pro in performance means I am sold. Purchased through your link. Great review!
Haha magnets are the best!!
Awesome review! I’m really glad that I stumbled upon this
Glad it helped you!
Very nice intro sequence. Great video. Thanks.
Thank you, Just order the freewell 4 days ago. I had some regrets about the cross-polarization, but not anymore when I saw the others doing the same
Yeah they all do it to some extent. The hard stops help but don’t fully eliminate it.
Great video, keep up the good work
Great job you did, I was blown away with the hard work done, I had to sub. I couldn’t in all honesty walk away and not sub. Keep it up
Absolutely solid review on these nd filters - i'm literally stuck between the moment and peter Mck filters
Thanks for watching! They’re all great tbh, I’m sure you’ll be happy with whatever you get!
Thanks man! This helped a lot. Gotta get that Freewell ND!
Great video! Just purchased the Freewell filters because of this!
Awesome in depth review! thank you for this... subscribed!
Thanks so much!
Great video. Definitely subscribing because of the hardwork put into it.
Thanks so much!
Thank you. It is so clear and definite comparison video.
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the video! I will go for the Freewell one :)
Congrats, Man! Amazing video... 👏🏻👊🏻
Thanks so much!
Great info! Exactly the video I needed. I will order the Freewell since I’m a newbie to VND. Thanks!
Love the Freewell! I have had it for a few months and love the magnetic cap and price
Definitely helpful! Thank you for your detailed approach! As much as I like Peter, I think the Freewell is the way I'll be going.
Cheers! Glad to hear it was helpful!
This was an amazing video - love the thoroughness and attention to detail. Would've loved to see B+W filters included in this. That's what I've been using for a while and now wondering how they would've stacked up. 🤔
Thanks so much for the kind words and the recommendation!
Thank you for making this video! I was going to get the polar pro set but after watching this I'm using the link to get the freewell for sure. I would like having all the extra stuff that come with the polar pro......I just like extra money in my pocket more. Keep up the good work 🤙🏼
Haha extra stuff vs extra money is a tough one!
Thanks so much for an awesome in depth review
Thanks for watching!!
So glad I watched this. Great comparison, thanks a lot. I think I will go with the freewells, I really don't mind if they soften the image a little as the a7iii and Sony lenses are super sharp anyway
I ordered the freewell last week. Pumped to get it. ND64PL. Fantastic video. Top notch.
Nice!! I have that one too! The magnets are awesome!
If I like it I'll defo buy more
Thank you! You’ve helped me make my decision!
My pleasure!!
Polar Pro for me. Got the combo pack and they’ve been 🔥. First thing I pack. The filter cover on them should not be underestimated when run n gunning. A joy to use.
Totally! I got them on release too and have loved them since!
Just ordered the Freewell and used your affiliate link. Thanks for the review!
Very nice video! Well put together! Thx
Thanks for watching!!
The Freewells appeal to my frugal side and well, 🧲 magnets 🧲 The Moments are nice too, the PM polar pros are so far outside my budget that they aren’t even an option. Thanks for the comparison! :)
Haha MAGNETTTSSS!!! glad the video was helpful Jason!
Awesome review!! I'm considering get the 2-5 freewell and keep my solid 6 stops B+W. Thanks for sharing bro!!
Nice!!
Nice one Dunna! Definitely helpful! Thanks dude!
Thanks homie!
Excellent review! I've had the freewell in my cart at B&H for some time now. I'm just waiting for them to be in stock then i'm pulling the trigger. Thanks for helping me make up my mind.
My pleasure!!
Well done, very thorough! Glad to see that Polar Pro filters have the quality to match the price tag (although a little steep)
Thanks for watching!!
Freewell sounds like the way to go, thx
Highly Recommended!
This was a really valuable video, thanks! So Freewell it is.
Glad you made this comparison, results were surprising 😳
Definitely not what I expected.
Dunna Did It I know right, glad you made this comparison I didn’t foresee anyone else making it.
Lui Aviles 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Thank you for these very thorough tests and comparisons. From start to conclusion the Freewells stood out.
It's 2020, who needs all the overdone packaging.
Thanks for the kind words about the video!
This is a great video. This is exactly what I was looking for. Now to shoot some more video for my RUclips channel.
Love my moment NDs !
Awesome stuff man..now I know what to get.thanks
Thanks Dunna ! Love the video
Thanks for watching!
I’ve been using freewell’s love it
This guy hits the right topics at the right time and still delivers with quality. Outstanding channel! (Better than Peter McKn Imo)
Thanks a ton Michael! I appreciate it!
The Freewells are now actually available in 58, 62, 67, 72, 77, 82, 86 and 95mm!! I bought the 95mm for my telephoto. Thanks for the information my friend!!!
Very useful and helpful , thanks for posting
Thanks for watching!!
I recently purchased the PolarPro Cinema Series ND filters for my Mavic 2 Pro. The 2 reasons I purchased was because of the quality, and second the PolarPro app. I recently found out that the PolarPro app is now discontinued because they want to focus on product instead. Thanks for doing this video, because I wasn’t sure about the Freewell’s. I will give them a shot as I need to purchase a variable PL filter.
Nice!
Thanks a lot, great work !
Thanks for watching!
Thank man, that help a lot =)
Just cancelled my Polarpro and ordered the Freewell.
Very Helpful, Thank you!
My pleasure!
Super test ! Merci
De rien!
With the moment nd, they designed them so you can use your existing lens cap. The extra large outside flare has the nd stops marked so you can read them from behind your camera. It’s basically all explained on their product page.
Yeah that’s the idea! Unfortunately I had some issues with my lens caps not staying in nicely.
Love the Polar Pro packaging...it’s a nice bonus but all I really care about is the best possible image quality - for what I can afford...nice packaging is never a serious selling point for me...thanks!
I don't think you're alone in that!
I have the 6-9 Polarpro, haven’t used it yet sadly, but after watching this, I would have gone with the Freewell getting both the 2-5 and 6-9. For sure seems like the better deal, plus that magnet 👌🏼
The polar pro is a killer though. The 6-9 especially is awesome!!
This is the EXACT video I was looking for. THANK YOU Dunna Did It!!! ❤😎👌
My pleasure!
Great video man! I was stuck deciding wether to choose the PolarPro V2 or the Moment and didn't even know about the Freewell.
I do mainly video over photo so my end plan it to pickup a PolarPro Basecamp system, I therefore in the meantime didn't want to spend TOO much on screw on filters, only to end up barely using them in the longer term. You've made my decision very easy, Freewell 6-9 in an 82mm and some step-up rings should do me just fine until I can afford that sweet Basecamp System!
Keep up the great content man!
I just dropped my Hoya variable ND last night. Boo... Great comparison. The Polar Pros do look amazing, but for the price, I'm leaning toward the Freewell, I need a lens cover for sure.
Thanks for such a helpful and comprehensive comparison. I had initially been looking at the PolarPro but putting it off due to price. Your video educated me that there were good alternatives ... and those Freewell filters are looking like an outright bargain.
Nice! I’m glad it was helpful!
I wonder if you had an ir cut underneath all of them if it would make any difference?
I’m not sure how that would affect it.
Something to consider for upcoming videos.
The camera above has your perspective, but when you join it with the front camera, which has our perspective, everything turns and tides. Maybe next time if we see you from the front, the camera above should also have the viewer's perspective.
Thanks for the video, very good!
Haha funny thing is that shot was flipped too so I could have done it that way! Thanks for the suggestion!
Thanks for the great comparison and honest thoughts. I will be getting the Freewell. I guess no collaborations with Peter anytime soon.
Lol hopefully I put it in a way to show that this wasn’t my personal bias and Peter will one day forgive me haha... the tests don’t lie 🤷🏻♂️
Bought the Polars. Waiting for them now
Nice!!
I was looking for the best and the quality, but with this great video, my camera lens spoke to me to choose the FreeWell filter without hesitation, thank you, Mr. Dunna
Thanks for watching!!
After waiting a couple weeks for this review I still can't be disappointed with the outcome even if it wasn't the one I wanted to hear. The reason why I'm so for the Moment VND is because Aesthetic mainly, haha. Also I have a serious brand loyalty problem since I currently use Moment filters for my Drone and was looking to upgrade my current VND I own. The moment is still within my budget range and I am hoping I don't regret the purchase even if it didn't come out as high :/
Haha they’re still great!!
Great review - exactly what I needed, thank you! Freewell it is :-)
Excellent comparison video. Really appreciate your production. You got me to swing to Freewell. To minimize the cross polarization / vignetting effect, does it make sense to get the larger size filter and step up in effort to use sweet center portion of filter, or just to get exact size to fit lens whenever possible?
