Perfect example of why parents should monitor childrens social media, phone etc and limit their time with the internet , phone. I just seen online that her last two people she was in contact with was a known drug dealer and the other one is a known person to be involved in trafficking how heartbreaking
That is extremely sad! Clearly, if she’s been trafficked, she’ll most likely never be seen again. Omg!!

@@MaRiAm936 yes sadly that's likely what happened. Most teens don't run away for years. Most only run away for a few days before they get scared and/or homesick. When years have gone by, it's likely something sinister, such as murder. God I pray their daughter is just being stubborn and is still alive 🙏

Exactly. She already feels rejected. The way the mother had to interject how big the family is and that she was loved. Where are her siblings? Who is this big family? Why aren’t they there supporting this effort? Well, many people who were abused or neglected were loved. Kids run away for a reason. I never once thought about running away from home. As children our parents and our home is our refuge. We are learning what it means to feel safe and your home and family play a key role. She obviously did not feel safe. Sending her away sent a message that he didn’t care, even though he thought he was doing the right thing. You don’t hear about her being in therapy, nothing. She was isolated in her room for hours meaning they were not involved in her day to day life. This is sad.

God this is terrifying. I have a 16 year old daughter but thankfully we're very close and she prefers to be home and not out with friends. She's like my best buddy. Idk what I'd do without her. This is every parent's worst nightmare 😭
Nope. I do not believe him at all. It all sounded rehearsed and fake. As soon as he said apparently laptops can call people I got a horrible feeling. Everyone knows laptops can call/chat other people. When she went to the doctor he found out she has depression , anxiety, and psychosis? If you are involved in your childs life, you know when they are depressed or anxious. I can understand not knowing about the psychosis if you don't know the signs and understand it, but there is no way this man could possibly be as clueless as he's trying to appear. 6-8 hours a day locked away in her room? HUGE red flag. Major sign of anxiety and depression. His entire story is off. Something is being hidden. Something just is not right. I really hope she is alive and okay.
My daughter and I are incredibly close. I had no idea she was depressed or anxious until she opened up to me about it. Any changes in her seemed like normal puberty and teenage angst. Depression and anxiety can be very subtle especially if they're trying to hide it
Not to mention keeping her phone for a month. That’s ridiculous. If the punishment is real, you take everything. Give her supervised access to the laptop only during school. Add trackers and loggers to all the devices to monitor what she’s doing. Password protect everything so she can’t change the settings. If she does then laptop during school and that’s it. He absolutely knew she could communicate on other devices. Texting, email, video, chat. This was only 4 years ago, not 20.

my parents checked my laptops, computers, flip phones, iphones, i pods, everything until i was 18 and yeah it was annoying at the time but now i completely understand. this is heartbreaking i hope she is alright where ever she is, and every child going through this for that matter.

In parenting, when something goes wrong, even if it's your fault or not you'll always be hurt to the max, and I think that's the curse it holds for all the blessings they bring along.
My heart goes out to this child. Loving kindness moves mountains. Sending her off to boarding school after she is already adopted into a home of strangers who left her to peruse the Internet freely with no restrictions. Actually sending her to that girls school may not have been such a good idea. Horrified for this young lady who was seeking help and too young to understand what was happening. The father’s heart appears sincere. The wife appears to be making excuses and blaming the minor victim. So sad but I cannot not judge, its not my situation. In my situation when a child talked about suicide I took ALL technology and they had to do everything with me. 4 years later a junior in college. It was tough I sacrificed pleasantries but he’s thriving and graduating college next year. A lot of prayer on giving me a gentle heart to try to understand him. I to this day never understood why he felt suicidal but I know then and now I could not sleep at night if I didn’t know he was safe and accessible. I really hope they find her and hopeful she is ok. I am an “IRS” baby so tough skin was the motto growing up. My youngest taught me that is not true for all, especially today. I do not believe she was looking for love on the Internet. She may have been looking for a connection some guidance a friendship something that made her feel valued or significant. I can imagine the couple is hurting but that child is hurting much more today and long term 🙏🏼

I thought the exact same thing. Who is unaware that digital devices with internet access can contact other people? He's clueless about laptops and couldn't see she was anxious or depressed? If you're an involved parent, there is no way you could possibly be that oblivious. Psychosis? Maybe you could miss that if you don't know the signs or understand it, but everything else? Not a chance.
Alot of people send their kids to boarding schools not just the very rich

And this is why people should never do online classes or always on their phone by themselves all day it can lead to depression and anxiousness which can make you very gullible and tricked when you meet someone online you don’t know
He weaned her off medication she clearly needed without trying to see if other medications would work or if there were natural alternatives that would have helped her. Depression doesn’t care how much people love you. A depressed person doesn’t see things the same way and often aren’t rational. Mental health is so misunderstood. You’d think with it being one of the top health issues that people would take it seriously, before it’s too late and not after.

I think as parents we always play the what if game when something happens to our children.
I am not blaming the parents but do not take a child off of there medications. Try to work with the doctors to see if they can lower the dose. Or if there something else she could take. But taking her off her meds could have really hurt her.

It is sooooooo difficult to parent children, in this day and age of the internet. It literally allows complete strangers to infiltrate your home! My heart goes out to the parents of the children of today! It’s almost an impossible task to keep them safe.

Where are other family members. The mother doesn’t seem to be her mother by blood or adoption. The way she says that he tried to parent her implies she’s a child from another relationship. @Kim Glenn yes they do. The only reason Gabby Petito got so much attention is because she put everything online and her boyfriend went missing right after her.
