- No safe hotels or camper rigs for us - We motorcycle camp under the stars the entire way! There is WAYYYY too much amazingness in this part of Canada to cram into one video, so this will be a three part video. I hope you enjoy!
This is the moment we have been waiting for! We have finally reached the point in our journey where the road turns to gravel - we made it to the Dempster Highway in Yukon, Canada!
In this episode, we ride our motorcycles into the amazing and unique Dawson City, Yukon for a quick bite, to explore, and stock up on last minute supplies. After that, we then start the final leg of our journey to the Arctic Ocean.
The landscapes change frequently, and there is no shortage of breathtaking views from the winding gravel roads that go in and through the mountains.
My best friend and I did the Dempster 30 years ago. I was riding my 91' Harley FXRP police special and my friend on his 1981 BMW 800 GS. We left Iowa on June 27th and took our photos at the Artic circle sign on July 4th.Your video brings back many memories from that trip. Especially the mosquitos. Lol Planning a month-long trip to Labrador/Newfound land this summer. Great job on the video and camping gear tips. Sadly, my friend passed away in 2020.😢😢
So great to watch this. In 2016 I rode the Dempster as far as the Arctic Circle. And it was the summer solstice. Three of us stood there, in awe of the solitude and beauty knowing the sun wouldn't set. We had our back facing south and suddenly heard the rumble of a vehicle and a "minibus" pulled into the parking spot by the marker. Ten thoroughly drunk Brits got out. They had come from London on a package deal to visit the Arctic Circle on the Summer Solstice. The mosquitos were the size of sparrows, and they got out of the van wearing t shirts and shorts. The mosquitos attacked them instantly and in formation... leaving red welts after each penetration. After five minutes of swatting the bugs and taking pictures, they were back in the van and headed off. We stood there, looked at each other with the "did that just really happen?" expression. But we have photos, so it did. I'd love to do that ride again but at age 74 now, it isn't likely. Thanks for the memories and your video of such a wondrous place.
We want to do this trip next year. Just bought 2 Honda NX500s. Late July early August we thought. Love your videos of the trip. Awesome.
Great video! The Dempster is on my bucket list, wish I could get the time off work! It''s videos like this that pushed me to buy a bigger bigger adv bike and do some longer distance trips. Thanks for sharing!
Glad you enjoyed! :)
Can't wait to ride this road some day!
I was originally going to drive it but have now decided to take the Africa Twin!
Great videos 🫡
Thank you! The Africa twin will love this road! 😎
Beautiful landscape! I loved this one….
Thanks! It’s an amazing place out there! 🙂
awesome video so scenic, great job
Thank you!
Love this video! Thanks for sharing! Going to do this next June!
Thank you!
Outstanding fellas! Hey from Wales!

That was INCREDIBLE! Immediately subscribed . Thanks for all your videography
Thank you! I’m glad you enjoyed! It was definitely an incredible place to ride!
Thank you for sharing like your series of videos thank you so much for posting them, ride safe
I’m glad you are enjoying them! Thanks so much for the comment! 🙏🙂✌️
Beautiful scenery, lovin’ it!!
The landscape was definitely mind blowing - thanks! 🙂
Great video. Rode the Dempster in August '22. Amazing scenery.
Thanks!
I'm a bit late to this particular party but what amazing scenery and what a great place to ride! Jealous much!
Never too late! 😁 it’s definitely a bucket list worthy ride!
Great work with the content and your laid back demeanor on such an epic trip.
Thanks! It’s definitely a bucket worthy trip! ✌️
Awesome views of the land and drone videography on this one! Enjoying the "epic" views. Can't wait for the next episode! Ride safe!
Thank you! The scenery is spectacular out there. Epic is just the best way to describe it! 😁✌️
Beautifully shot. I was up there just before you last year. The scenery is second to none. Might have to go back in ‘24.
Thank you! Yes, it is definitely a must see wilderness in Canada! 🙂
thanks for sharing your ride very beautiful
Thank you! 🙏🙂 Glad you enjoyed it!
You captured it really well. Rode there a few years ago and it's difficult to describe how awe inspiring it is.
Thank you!🙏 I know, it’s such a unique, amazing spot! Part 2 will be out next Wednesday which will contain even more changing landscapes and scenery. Thanks again for the comment! 🙂✌️
What a beauty!
That’s awesome you rode a Duke over the Dempster! I bet you were the first and only person to do it on that bike, well done.
Yes I’m most likely the first with a Duke 😂 (some might say a bit crazy!) Believe it or not, it actually drove quite nice for the most of it. Just couldn’t go as fast on the really rough areas with deep potholes (having a sport suspension and all) Thanks for the comment! 🙂✌️
I always wanted to do this trip and now watching your series I am desperate to to it!
Thanks for another great video!
I definitely highly recommend it! I also recommend doing it around late fall… Late August “ish”. It’s a bit risky because I’m told it’s starting to get toward rainy season, but there are no mosquitoes and if when the sun is out the colours just pop!
@@pavechaser great advice! Thanks
Somehow I made it all the way up on a 2022 goldwing. It was a fun experience for sure
A gold wing up there would definitely be an adventure!
@ it was, on street tires too! We had a lot of dust, a fair amount of mud but an amazing adventure… if you ever get bored. Check it out.
Great videos. Canada is such a beautiful place to ride thru. One comment, videos can be just a little longer, detailed if you want them to be. Thanks for sharing so much!
Thanks - I’m glad you enjoyed! Thank you for the feedback 🙏😁
EPIC!
It is! 😁🙌
NICE EPIC TRIP ... ALL THE BEST FROM OMAN
Thanks so much!🙂✌️
D8d this in 2010 on a Ural with my three best pals. We called it the Dempster 100. As collectively I had know them 100 years. Chee4s enjoy. Tuk wasn't open yet when we went.
That would be a great trip on a Ural! I wouldn’t want to be the one in the sidecar tho 😂!
@@pavechaser ha haha me neither, I was the chuckwagon for the group 😅
Ok 👌
Awesome video. We did it two years ago (2 up). Makes me want to go again. What's your goPro set up? Clear video and audio.
Thank you! I was using a combination of two hero 10s, and a hero max(360). The Helmet cam hero 10 has the media mod with a microphone run into the helmet for talking while riding!
Waiting a week like a drug addict, for a few minutes video 😭😭😭... Buy the way really love the view😍🥰
Thanks so much!🙏🙂 10-15 mins seems to be the sweet spot for most people’s attention span 😅 (it’s a lot of work to get them down to that shorter length!)
No mention of mosquitoes. Hardly seems like the Dempster! It is a remarkable ride though.. in any season.
We camped the entire way with tents/hammocks - Mosquitoes or bugs were never an issue - in fact I don’t think there were any at all! I suspect it is a “time of year” situation as we were there in their late fall.
What date did you head North from Dawson City?
Late August.. the 30th I believe
Hi, curious, what date was this part of the Ride?
This would have been the last day or two of August. 🙂
You were fortunate that the road was dry. A lot of this road has a clay base and when it gets wet it is a skating rink.
Yes, I have heard this. I would encourage everyone to ride this road while it’s dry! 😅
What time of year was this ?
It was late August/early September
How's that 20mm higher seat been feeling since you have been on this trip?
Some glad I put it on. It performed like it should have and was a great investment! I’m used to it now so I don’t even notice it being any different than the original.
@@pavechaser I appreciate the input. They were out of stock when I tried order one. But the bike is away for the winter. I'll have one next season.
Ride safe 🙏
BC has best riding, by far. no need to go all the way up there…..
Finally did it in July. It truly was an Epic roadtrip! Almost 20,000kms round trip from Toronto to Tuktoyaktuk.

Good job! It’s definitely an epic ride!
It looks beautiful, but every Alaska video I see it just seems like such a boring ride.
Non stop challenges - risks of dropping the bike with no mechanic shop or hospital anywhere, grizzlies walking out in front of you, sunny one moment and then snowing the next… I wouldn’t use the word boring - Most videos make it look easy :)
