On one hand , I hate the fact that not many people are aware of this masterpiece, but on the other hand, I like it as the hidden gem it is, among indie music.
I know what you mean. I bought the album on the strength of hearing Wish on John Peel. Fell in love with it and ever since it has lived in my "no-one's ever heard of this but it's wonderful" corner. And that's got to be everyone's favourite bit of their record collection.
Please don't worry about this. For example, I listen to FSA since 1999 (no youtube!!))) On CDs and cassettes, here, in Russia, Siberia. We listened to Sonic Youth, Muslimgauze, Massive Attack etc. We used mushrooms, walking in the fields of gold. Now this field are over, only new dull residential areas are standing. I return to FSA sometimes all my life.
Got this record about 25 years ago, listened to it and was like "WTF this is noise!" and put it away. Then I listened again and again, and it soon became my favorite record, and after all my other records were stolen I still had this one, and somehow that one got stolen too. The use of feedback and fuzz is just amazing, as it somehow harmonizes perfectly. This is the music of deep dreams when you're flying around buildings you've never seen before.
Same! First few times I listened to it I thought it was too abrasive for me, but now the abrasiveness is what is so satisfying to me. The loud textured emotional guitar sounds take you to a different place..
This song comes to mind at the strangest yet most mystifying of times. It is forever imbedded in my consciousness just waiting for the moments of solitude and joy in the expanding universe. of night, of days be the sea and in the mountains. It is not that they are always a soundtrack kind of band, it is simply that they were that great. I wish new music was arising from their prairie lands.
Like listening to the most beautiful song being played about a mile away. The search to get closer, to find the source, is somehow more pertinent and magical than already being right there.
The structure of this, and other FSA tracks, have ambient chords in the forefront and rock elements in the background. It makes for an interesting listening experience.
In all seriousness: I would listen to these songs again if the sound were cleaner, but it's like someone put a Yo La Tengo CD through the blender and then mixed the sound of the blender into the recording. Yes, I am aware that nobody asked my opinion.
A lot of avant garde that uses as much fuzz and distortion as this really is bad. But, in my opinion, FSA's songs move and express washed out, exhausted emotion. Compared to people just banging on instruments and strumming chords, at the least, FSA are better musicians.

Totally agreed, this song is a mystical gem on its own, and digging that Ash Ra Tempel icon.

An utterly ecstatic union of beautiful feedback and fuzz and soaring harmonies

I used to put this on and just crank up the volume, sometimes first thing in the morning. Absolute fuckiing joy!

Haunting, and beautiful.

It’s weird how many times I’ve heard these songs
I love the home recording sound. FSA are awesome.
recorded in a home studio with Rocker in Bristol

lluvianihilista 😂😂😂
lluvianihilista 😂 same
It would be really cool to have the tabs and have someone cover this clean.... however FSA are still otherworldly
@@Adyman182 i love the fact that they basically did it from home - it puts a nice spin on things, makes it sound very raw and (to me) more natural
reminds me of lost stupid days and drug fuelled road trips
Descobri essa música recentemente. Estranho ter passado os anos 90 sem conhecer.
Really weird listening to the beginning with headphones
100 HITS OF ACID.
microphonia and excessive paraphernalia that I love to hear.
the band started too late with their style of music. It should happen at the end of 80's at least
I prefer The Rezillos version.
like it, though mix could be better.
Not bad for a cassette multitrack recording though.
He wanted it this way
no avangarde here \ we just sound like shit

grow your ears, kid
Its not about the fuzz, its the sustained feedback notes
yeah it's just songs recorded in a home studio, you don't have to listen
