Memories of a few good friends,my first love and me at the local pub, having a drink, talking, listening to vinyl records..two of them are no longer among us,God I miss them and these days when life was still simple like crazy
I have listen this band for the first time in 93, in that time i have 19 years old, I have 41 today, good songs never get in older, never die, time pass and they stay strong like the first time that I have listened, congratulations!!! P.S.: Sorry my bad english, I am Brasilian, peace, love & health to all.
It's awesome that people have liked this band for so long I'm only 15 but my dad has liked them since he was 17 I'm probably the youngest person to be in love with this album but I'm grateful that he taught me what good music is
We were 17. Growing up on classic rock. 1990 was the year it all opened up. Our last year of high school and we saw videos of the band. Got the cassette and we’re just blown away.
I forgot something. I wanted to recommend you the song „Whirr - Flashback“ - another great Shoegaze track, sad, melancholic, but also beautiful. Do you know it? Did you listen to it?
Somehow, watching the Butch Vig interview with Beato led me here (through comments on Pumpkins songs). Glad it did. I can't believe I've never heard this band before.
This song brings back Happy Memories when Ride came to Melbourne-Australia for their first time and we met them after the concert and then we drove to Sydney to watch them perform Live again. After the concert we gave Andy a Birthday Cake, as it was his actual Birthday on the day. Random & Fun Times will always be cherished!!
Lying under sky laughing at everything I say And pulls me under, there's no time to resist Lying on the floor the tears are falling down and more Her eyes speak loud but actions speak the best Waiting, hoping for a sign That what's forbidden can be mine I just want what I can't have 'Til my dreams burn down and choke me every time She's effortlessly cool but circumstances can be cruel And sometimes you must accept that you can't always get what you want We fill up our days and nights, we fill up the gaps in our empty little lives But we know we are doomed the moment we walk out the room Waiting, hoping for a sign That what's forbidden can be mine I just want what I can't have 'Til my dreams burn down and choke me every time
"her eyes speak loud but actions speak the best" such a great line, Is like that moment when you both know you're going to kiss and just wait for one to take the initiative
I wonder who broke this guy's heart. It's incredible how music resonate so much with us and sometimes I think that is what make this kind of songs atemporal. I'm a little heartbroken right now and this record help a lot ♡
Every few years, i remember this song, so i play it. It never fails me, always sounds epic, special yes, it always will be. Its everything music should be.
This is the sound of sonic psych epiphany perfection.. a band in perfect chemistry, inspired and making music way ahead of its time. This stuff still sounds totally devastating in 2015.
I often think I am sad I missed out on the generation that had Grand Funk, Doobie Brothers, Fleetwood Mac etc then I remind myself of seeing Ride live in 1992 and forget all that - best lyrics ever on an album is Nowhere!
Come back to Brazil guys!!!
The second half!!! 2:43 This sonic progression, most of the alt rock band/ indie with shoegaze influences sound like this! I can especially see it in the Japanese shoegaze scene and some american bands, it's great to see from where it comes!
I just asked Google to recommend some 'shoegaze' songs, having only just learned what the word meant. I hadn't realized there was a separate genre for this, this lovely daydreamy sound. I always just called it hypnotic. Now I know how to find that beautiful sound I remember from my misspent youth. ( Spinning in lazy circles on the dance floor) I sure do miss the 90's...
Lying under sky, She laughs at everything I say, And pulls me under. There's no time to resist. Lying on the floor, There's no time to resist, Lying on the floor, The tears are falling down and more. Her eyes speak loud, But actions speak the best Waiting, hoping for a sign, That what's forbidden can be mine. I just want what I can't have, Until my dreams burn down every time. We fill up the gaps in our empty little lives. But we know we are doomed, The moment we walk out the room.
This song is awesome!!! The best here so far, I love its guitar tones and beautiful riffs (there's one that almost sounds like a harp or something like hahaha), and the noise burst part is totally like what I see in many alt/indie bands from nowadays, this makes the song feel so fresh to me, like something that could be made in 2010's idk.
Shoe Gaze might be the most cringe fake sub genre name next to Grunge and Emo. I mean, every time you label a band as shoe gaze, emo, or grunge you take a big shit on the musicians who worked hard to make good music by making it cringe.
i absolutely love this band. such an inspirations to us. just love everything about it, without a doubt my favourite band right now. amazing to say the least. thanks for the music ;) we would appreciated very much if you can check us out and help us improving our music. again thanks you so much and hope to see you live someday.
I was late to this song...partly because I didn't know who sang or even thr title to this. A friend burned this on a CD and I just listened along. The drums are AMAZING on this song... this is a song that is in my running compilation, and I hit a high whenever it comes on.
Thanks all of y'all for sharing your love for this song/band. Coldplay before there was a Coldplay. I hear you, there's definitely some sonic similarities. Love this album, my college age years. Was around 18 then, 44 now. Peace.
Waking, wanting, seeking, to define all that I am in this world only to find that I am defined by those 3 verbs, thank God He is there to remind me my place in this universe,.....RIDE//// on....
30 years later and just hearing this is enough to remind me of the woman who broke my heart. What a song.
Memories of a few good friends,my first love and me at the local pub, having a drink, talking, listening to vinyl records..two of them are no longer among us,God I miss them and these days when life was still simple like crazy
Loz Colbert's drumming on Nowhere by Ride is awesome. What a drummer!!
The drummer makes this band, best sticks man this century up to just, he is remarkable for sure
He was next gen Bonham (that's a compliment)
Loz Colbert (one of the best indie. Drummers)
@@micklee5152 weirdly enough, the intro of this song reminds me of When the levee breaks
@@simoneburini4036 it's a similar drum beat

+kirsten mo hell yeah!
I'm from China I found this band from a music sharing website and I listen to it over and over and I love it so I climbed over the firewall٩( 'ω' )و

When those drums kick in at the start, I can never fully prepare myself for what's to follow. Just amazing.
it was the drums that got me too
We were 17. Growing up on classic rock. 1990 was the year it all opened up. Our last year of high school and we saw videos of the band. Got the cassette and we’re just blown away.
Probably one of the best shoegaze songs I have heard and will ever hear.
Just wait until you hear the *next* song on this album. The drumming on Decay is one inch beyond perfection.
Ever hear Dif Juz 'No Motion' before??? Awesome 80s 4AD band.
Yes, Sir! I agree. It feels like their (Ride) best song. 👍
It’s somehow combining and showing melancholia and beauty.
It’s a terrific song for sure.
I forgot something. I wanted to recommend you the song „Whirr - Flashback“ - another great Shoegaze track, sad, melancholic, but also beautiful.
Do you know it?
Did you listen to it?
alison better
Somehow, watching the Butch Vig interview with Beato led me here (through comments on Pumpkins songs). Glad it did. I can't believe I've never heard this band before.
Because Alan MOULDER mixed Rides first 2 albums and Siamese Dream by SP
this album just gets better and better the more you listen to it
It- and all 'shoegazer-style Music peaked right here.
The guitars on this one. My god

"FLOATING IN & OUT OF TIME. IN & OUT OF SPACE
NO ONE ELSE CAN TOUCH US NOW
WE'RE IN A DIFFERENT PLACE!"
Feeling love for you for this
Ride were massive early 90s but nobody I speak to now remembers them.
Criminal how bands like stone roses are worshipped and stuff like this ignored.
Well said
Back then Ride and Chapter house
Still to this day 👍🏻
the chameleons
"her eyes speak loud but actions speak the best" such a great line, Is like that moment when you both know you're going to kiss and just wait for one to take the initiative
Discovered in 91 when I was 18 years old. Still relevant in 2021. For ever.
Probably one of the 100 ever bands 🎉❤
I wonder who broke this guy's heart. It's incredible how music resonate so much with us and sometimes I think that is what make this kind of songs atemporal.
I'm a little heartbroken right now and this record help a lot ♡
@Steve Knight I was by the time I wrote that. I guess I didn't want to admit it
Every few years, i remember this song, so i play it. It never fails me, always sounds epic, special yes, it always will be. Its everything music should be.
this song just shows how awesome Ride is as a band and timeless their sound is
This is the sound of sonic psych epiphany perfection.. a band in perfect chemistry, inspired and making music way ahead of its time. This stuff still sounds totally devastating in 2015.
gp Totally and completely devastating; 2015, 2016 and the years after. I love this band.
It’s impeccably beautiful
She really was effortlessly cool 😞
This song hits home every time
I often think I am sad I missed out on the generation that had Grand Funk, Doobie Brothers, Fleetwood Mac etc then I remind myself of seeing Ride live in 1992 and forget all that - best lyrics ever on an album is Nowhere!
90s concerts were awesome I was born in 2005 but I’ve watched so many 90s concert videos
Wow what a drummer!!!!
One of the best album
Loz Colbert's drumming on Nowhere was mind-blowingly good, and this song is a great example of that.
Come back to Brazil guys!!!
The second half!!! 2:43 This sonic progression, most of the alt rock band/ indie with shoegaze influences sound like this! I can especially see it in the Japanese shoegaze scene and some american bands, it's great to see from where it comes!
One of the best album of rock.
Quintessentially an English sound. This album and "Going Blank Again" are, in my humble opinion, the 2 greatest records ever written! Thank you Ride!
Chris Taylor no its a British sound....
Andy and Mark have Welsh and Irish heritage respectively
@@dream-67 Sound doesn't necessarily follow roots. Anyways, I dub it "Bagg/Shoegazey" and sorta move on.

kudos to google. it picked a fucking good one.
Best gig and one night stand of my life ! One wet autumn Saturday night in the 90s. Town and Country club Kentish Town London
Aaaaagh. Simply beautiful ❤
I just saw Ride play that song in concert last week. As fantastic as ever!
RIDE ! Amazing Band ...The Phoenix for Future Time ....Remember this Comment
One day, it’ll happen. Now just isn’t the right time.
Bless you Ride. This song is getting me through a lot right now.
Hey hey. A real John Bonham 'When the Levy breaks' tribute with the drum groove on this track. Tremendous groove
Still slamming into Loz's drum pattern in the depth of ocean
I love this song so much! It gives me the chills... that riff is sublime...
What a band, what a sound. Brilliant.
Reminds me summer 1990 or 1991...I had this song on an old cassette in my Renault super 5...
Wow I'm with u mate. Memories of a time when it felt anything was possible. Sweet serenatey away from new media and mobile phones.
me too mate, Sept 1990 i saw them in Dublin, happy innocent times. by God they were loud tho..my ears were shredded
The drumming kills in this song.
Love it. Title always made me laugh, with a feeling of affection. His dreams not only don't come true, they burn down. I can relate.
one of the best albums ever ❤️🐬 still burns timeless 30 years later 🌈
Those chiming guitars always get me!
What the fuck have I been doing these past 25 years. This band is beyond awesome!
Lying under sky,
She laughs at everything I say,
And pulls me under.
There's no time to resist.
Lying on the floor,
There's no time to resist,
Lying on the floor,
The tears are falling down and more.
Her eyes speak loud,
But actions speak the best
Waiting, hoping for a sign,
That what's forbidden can be mine.
I just want what I can't have,
Until my dreams burn down every time.
She's effortlessly cool,
But circumstances can be cruel.
And sometimes you must accept,
That you can't always get what you want.
We fill up our days and nights.
We fill up the gaps in our empty little lives.
But we know we are doomed,
The moment we walk out the room.
I know such pretentious lyrics.
Well I was at the Town and Country Club when RIDE played this gem... Fan bloody tastic I can tell you - grats to who did the lighting wow!
This is just otherworldly......Alan Moulder man........... I bet God has this on rotation.
Maybe my fave Ride song, great hooks
This song is awesome!!! This song is a masterpiece! I remember the first time I heard it back in 90....2? 93? Whenever it was. Love it.
Ride managed to distill all my favourite bands into one album and made the sound their own. Thanks for posting.
I've found the best band. from Japan.
Great to hear the intro to this being used on Eurosport's Watts this week for a Luge Doubles clip :-)
Magnifique!
Coldplay's "In My Place" started playing on the car radio. Turned it off and came to listen this wonderful Ride song. God bless Shoegaze.
Coldplay can not hold a candle to Ride, especially with the album Nowhere.
This is what I was thinking, very similar.
Shoe Gaze might be the most cringe fake sub genre name next to Grunge and Emo. I mean, every time you label a band as shoe gaze, emo, or grunge you take a big shit on the musicians who worked hard to make good music by making it cringe.
Both songs are good, relax ya coochie.
this album cover so nice. makes me wanna learn surfing.
😂

The sensitivity of teenager, great music!😋
Temazo !! Gran disco . 🇨🇱
what a album, lovely!!
This among the greatest songs I've ever heard.
Gigantic, tremendous sound, reminds me to my 20s... In the early 00s

One of the best intros!
One of the best songs live, fullstop
I first heard this song in 2017. The rest of Nowhere is a masterpiece!
I want this and "in a different place." Played at my funeral… along with Territorial Pissings by nirvana or something to make it awkward as hell…
Very good hear this, long live to the good rock n roll!!!
+Seemöve ssz it will live on until the earths end
"fodderstompf" by PiL should cover your awkward needs :P
Masterpiece

Still the most immense song live for this old shoegazer
Best track on the album.
Simon Griffiths many many good songs on this album. Is it the best ? Too hard to say for me....
another reason to live are this six minutes
Absolutely beautifully said. True dat.
The best shoegaze song not recorded by My Bloody Valentine
It's definitely a contender, alongside Vapour Trail.
Slowdive
slowdive pale saints and bowery electric have left the chat.
I like slowdive, but I MUST AGREE.
Slowdive and RIDE are better
when the loud part comes...
Described my love of the band, oh and have a nice life yoo
Yes very MBV
used to cover this song there no greater pleasure
Love from S korea ❤
Clearly, this song has influenced Alcest's work. This is indeed a jewel in Shoegaze.
Memories
Has it really been 20 years? Still sounds good
Although I can no longer see his beautiful hair, this music is still beautiful.
Love it
