My biggest gain in mileage comes when coasting down to residential streets. At 25-35 mph limit, this is where EV Mode kicks in for an extended amount of time. I drive mostly on B-mode, because it is so easy to regen. I use pedal shifter only if I coast towards a traffic light and minimize the use of my brakes. Some may say I’m being overly conservative, but occasionally I like to push the pedal for some zoom-zoom and highway merging. I don’t compromise for safety. There should be no accumulation in a new engine like thar. Unless something happen mechanical. But just keep using the shell premium and it maintains the system clean. I feel I get more power on the premium.
Engine cleaners are hard on plastic intake manifold internal. They work great but can be damaging over time. Top Tier Gas does the same thing without those problems because they are more aromatic.
Hi Bro, thx for sharing. Do you have any idea about the second exhaust? Why Honda didn't design it on Sport Turing? Is it helpful on decrease MPG? Do you know which trim has second exhaust? If any folks can share its experience will be great. Thanks!
Are you sure? I saw in some 2023 with 2nd one. May be they installed theirself manually 😅. Do you have any idea about 2nd exhaust for changing in MPG? The MPG of my crv is 38 now.
Hey, I have been checking all your videos and doing the math, you have done 6 months and 8K miles, its about 45 miles a day. I am contemplating between an EX vs Sport Hybrid models. I doubt I will drive that much, and might just do over 100 Miles a week. Question is, a hybrid valuable for that less of driving? the cost is about 1.5k higher for the Sport Hybrid model. I hear that the maintenance costs for hybrid are much higher in long run and unless you are driving a lot and saving on gas, it may not be of much value to invest in hybrid. What are your thoughts around this?
If they had a 2.0L gas engine. I would have gotten it. Problem is the 1.5L turbos usually have issues in the long run. So i placed my bet with the hybrid. Not a fan of turbo boosting a weaker engine. The rav 4 is a 2.5L. Says something
Love the videos, keep'em coming! Got my 2023 CR-V Sport Hybrid two weeks ago. I'm at almost 600 miles. I love it! I got 35.9 actual mpg on my first tank although the computer showed 38.3 mpg. I've been thinking about doing an oil change around 1,000 miles to get rid of any break-in debris. I'll have to do it myself since I've heard Honda won't service until it's at 15% oil life. Thank you and safe travels!
Honda told me soonest was 5000 miles. And to not change it sooner because they have break in additives in that first oil. It was 60% when they changed it.

Nothing to do with this video in particular, but has anyone successfully installed a 3rd party, Class 3 tow hitch (I know Curt makes one) on 2023 Sport Touring Hybrid? I just want it to hold a bike rack for 2 e-bikes. I’m not trying to tow anything. Factory tow hitch (Class 1) cannot support the weight of 2 e-bikes. Took mine to a local rack shop. They ordered the Curt model and when I went to have it installed after they tried to do it, they said they could not install it. They had to cut the underside of the bumper a bit and were worried it would potentially damage the kick sensor (Honda factory tow hitch has a sensor relocation accessory). Any 3rd party class 3 tow hitch success stories out there on a 2023 Sport Touring Hybrid in particular?
I had one installed, the Curt class 3. They also trimmed the plastic. The kick sensor is less sensitive and doesn't work every time for me, but I'm starting to get the hang of it I think. Had a local shop in socal do it.

Dont put anything Like SF into your new car, Top tier gas will do the same. 33 mpg. You doing stop and go city driving? or highway?
Mostly highway. But even in stop n go city it did the same. I watch the trip computer
The battery charges while you brake right? So the less you brake the less charge = less mpg? Try that and make a video🤪
What fuel are you using?
Costco 87 top tier
I would not use those engine cleaner. Just change your oil at 5000 or earlier and use premium gas from shell, BP to clean the engine
Ill try a tank of shell
There should be no accumulation in a new engine like thar. Unless something happen mechanical. But just keep using the shell premium and it maintains the system clean. I feel I get more power on the premium.
Engine cleaners are hard on plastic intake manifold internal. They work great but can be damaging over time. Top Tier Gas does the same thing without those problems because they are more aromatic.
How about the glossy black interior trim?where did u buy it?
That came with the car haga
Hi Bro, thx for sharing. Do you have any idea about the second exhaust? Why Honda didn't design it on Sport Turing? Is it helpful on decrease MPG? Do you know which trim has second exhaust? If any folks can share its experience will be great. Thanks!
The second exhaust is fake. On any model. Just a port
Are you sure? I saw in some 2023 with 2nd one. May be they installed theirself manually 😅. Do you have any idea about 2nd exhaust for changing in MPG? The MPG of my crv is 38 now.
@@samiepo-resin-jj4rz definitely. Its just a port. Look under the car. Follow the pipes
Great vid. Did you get ceramic coating?
Thank you! I did not do any ceramic coat from the dealer
Do you have a video that demonstrates how you paint those front bumper exhaust like rings?
Ive got videos for the emblems. And the exhaust is in this video. Same process. Just tape em off and spray 8 coats. Very easy
Does CA require any features on CRV that would reduce mileage
Not that in aware of. Just more expensive gas ⛽️. Gas taxes. Maybe more ethanol
Ok,Ok,Ok. we see you have installed a safe., Now, how is it as a vehicle.
Tell me you're American without telling me you're American 💥
Hahahaha. Darn tootin
Where did you get those Matt's? I have the same car.
I got them from the college honda website
Love the videos, keep'em coming! Got my 2023 CR-V Sport Hybrid two weeks ago. I'm at almost 600 miles. I love it! I got 35.9 actual mpg on my first tank although the computer showed 38.3 mpg. That's on a mix of city and highway on econ mode. At 8,000 miles has your maintenance minder come on yet for your first scheduled service? Just wondering.
@@DrHondaCRV So at 60% when they changed it, was that before or after the maintenance minder came on?
@@gferr991 i had a code come up as A1. Which is the initial oil change maintenance. That popped up around 5k miles
@@DrHondaCRV Thank you for the info, I really appreciate it! Did they do the service as part of the Honda Service Pass? I think it's supposed to be included for 2 years or 24,000 miles free of charge (or tacked on to the price of the vehicle).
Your crv didn't come with an air compressor?
It does. I just didn’t want to open the plastic wrap.
Did u ever do a video for the crome around the windows?
Yes. Checkout my videos!
Great videos on the CR-V upgrades.. any suggestions on getting the front window tinted (clear for UV block) and the clear vinyl over the headlights? I am also looking to add some additional led fog lights...
I did a clear 3M ceramic tint on the front. Great for heat reduction. I just bought some diode dynamic ss3 lights. Will install soo n
Just two things. 1. If you’re still running your climate control in “lo” it’s going to rob some mpg. 2. If you drive at freeway speeds and don’t use them, removing the crossbars should help.
Oh yea its been on lo a lot d/t the heat. Lets try without that. The crossbars look cool tho xD
I get 42-45 in my 2023 CRV Hybrid Sport, I drive in ECO, that is City Driving
A very unusual blog.
Chrome exhaust tips usually cost more money when getting a new car. Why would anyone paint them black ?
Chrome is always the cheapest and ugliest option
Where did you get that little garbage can
Temu
It’s so funny because I was just wondering if you could chrome delete the exhaust. Yours looks great. Mine is in the shop right now getting chrome delete around the windows, window tints, and ceramic coating . I’ll add a video too. Here’s my account . Finally got the Thule part so I’ll be adding a video on the kayak lift too. ruclips.net/user/shorts91LY7IpOI1Y?feature=share
Nice! Link me when its up!
How do you feel about the wipers having the fluid sprayer on the actual wipers? Am I the only one who finds it annoying? 😂
You don't know to much about ccw when you talk about road rage 😮
I ended up getting one installed at a local U-Haul in SoCal.
hows the kick sensor working for ya?@@paulshandi1392
you must be driving mostly highway miles or really hilly terrain to be getting 33mpg for the last 8000miles. I've got 39.1mpg for the last 9000 miles.
My overall avg is 36.
Last two tanks 33. Econ. B mode
Recent tank did 37 on highway for an hour. I switched to D mode. Normal.
Its so variable and I’m not sure why.
@@DrHondaCRV It could possibly be the cold weather. I notice that when its cold in the morning or in the evening, you can hear the engine on even when its cruising on EV mode. I drive in mostly afternoon traffic and heavy rush hour traffic. So its warm outside and its stop and go in city streets and slow heavy traffic speed on the highways. I suspect that if my area wasn't so hilly I would have gotten even more than 39.1 mpg for the past 9000 miles.
@@jeschr3462do you have sport or sport touring?
It’s too new to put seafoam in your engine it’s not gonna help increase mpg to get better mpg u need to go long ride on highway like 4 hours continuously driving after that it’s gonna increase ur mpg
Cant wait for you to smoke out the rear lights like a boss
I should do that eventually haha
Anyone having a problem with the seat belt digging into your hip?
Honda needs too get back too good engine and trans .Enough of this hybrid crap
We need the fuel economy though
I guess you will be doing a video when the motor blows up because you’re using seafoam stop using that
Its no bueno?
Lost my interest by paying so much attention to the gun safe! Whoopee!
Thanks for these videos! I feel like you should be pushing 40mpg… do you have a lead foot? Lol
Hahahaha. I don’t! I feel like i drive conservatively too. It varied a lot.
I feel that if i start low. 33. It stays low the whole tank. And if i start well. Drive slow. It stays higher 37 ish. The whole tank.
The computer is definitely off when i compare to gas replaced.
Mpg is horrible im getting on average 33mpg smh
Is anyone hearing the engine noise for almost a minute after start driving for a little bit?
Like a fan whirring? Buzzing?
@@DrHondaCRV the sound of the engine not the fan
Why seafoam a new engine?
They say theres no dammage. Just cleans it. MPG dropped. Just curious if some dirty gas caused it
Have you ever thought of getting new wheels 🛞 l know the factory wheels are nice but seeing you mode it from top to bottom is too clean also is it 19 or 18s ?
Link me any recs
@@DrHondaCRV 2023 Sport Touring comes with 19" wheels
i thought u would talk about the driving experince and issues
Checkout my last video! I go over all of that
Speak up --- don't mumble!
Haha okay. Im not a professional
